He hasn’t played any jingles or promos but did have some beds such as over the 8:30 news.
He played a few between 08:30 and 09:00 including Pat the Security Guard sketch, promos for the Top 100 countdown and he has pre-recorded his 80s hour as usual - so I dont see what's different in output affected here.
Maybe it came back up, not sure.
Computers can be rebooted.
Good publicity stunt by Will to claim he was playing from CDs. I hear he's giving away an elephant next week
*toilet flush sound effect*
The top 100 love songs was a bit meh ( unchained melody at #1) but good to hear at least a few Irish songs that you wouldn’t hear elsewhere
Anybody know where to find the full list of songs?
Probably on the rte gold webpage
In Oct 2017, on his final 2FM link on his final show, he played a Sawdoctors song and specifically mentioned it was played from CD.
I think its the radio anorak in him coming out !!
Highly formatted is not the term that comes to mind when listening to RTE Gold .
This afternoons 'format' was obscure songs from the 50s/60s followed by the Spice Girls (Viva) followed by more obscure 60s tracks followed by Girls Aloud !!
Yeah you are right. "Highly Formatted" was not appropriate.
Yesterday I heard on Ronan Collins show Snap "Exterminate" (the follow up to Rhythm is a dancer)
The last time i heard this on Irish radio was probably in 1993 when it was in the charts !!
I've heard it on Clubland TV and stuff like that, maybe the Non-Stop 90s pop-up station from a few years ago as well.
Same here.. that brough me back!
I like Ronan, love this show and refreshing to hear him introduce songs from the 90s and 00s that he normally wouldn't have - but I don't see the point of his pre-recorded show on RTE Gold if he cant relate to his loyal audience from Radio 1 ?
Right now he is playing Greenday, followed by Ed Sheeran .. then D-Ream.
They should have left Rick where he was at 10 am and put Ronan on 1pm, for 2 hours playing older / Easy listening / Irish showband music with listener anniversary etc requests.
It’s good to hear a playlisted show without the requests for stuff that appeals only to some random listener that ruins the overall flow of the music
A once a week, two hour live show from Ronan with listener interaction etc would be great! I'd take that over the voice tracking any day!
Totally agree that voice tracked programmes are so bland and are so obvious…
Anoraks will know best but am I correct to say that the only non voice trackers on Gold are Rick, Will, Dave Fanning, and Micky Mac?
Isn’t half of Wills breakfast show voice tracked! 7am-7:30 and 9-10am.
Dave and Micky are defo voicetracked
I dont think any shows on weekends were live
was Rick voicetracked this afternoon ?
I can't really remember Larry Gogan presenting "Ireland Biggest Jukebox" when John Clarke left RTE altogether. Maybe only as a fill in, as Larry was on 2FM around then??
I always thought only John and then Aidan presented it on Gold, after it moved from 2FM.
RTE objects to former 2fm boss John Clarke hosting 'Ireland's Biggest Jukebox' show on Radio Nova | Independent.ie
Looks like they made a mistake there, the tweet directly below it mentions Aidan.
The bank holiday brings a trip around the 32 counties and the the best songs associated with each county well worth catching
Great idea and it sounds first class…
Fair and play to Aidan and his team - the station has so much potential and nobody in RTÉ cares…
This is real public service radio
Elvis and Ritchie Kavanagh back to back only on RTE Gold!
Anywhere we can see the playlist, some counties will surely struggle to get more than one artist
no idea ,cork must had 10 classics langer ,jumper ,after all ,woderfull world by Black who singer died in crash in cork ,Dublin have a dozen to go trough ,i hope all this show can be heard again
Interesting!
Ran til nearly 7 last night but kinda fizzled out with Wicklow. That’s the problem with the lack of a countdown. Last song was Sinead O’Connor from In The Name Of The Father
