AMC start date is September 9th I can't see a start date for RTE just a coming soon.
It don't see any plausible way to resurrect it. Bren was the only good thing about season 2 and he was done away it.
This recent piece from the Sun seems to suggest BBC may back future seasons (but nothing in the article seems to actually back that up!) so I guess it's a wait and see approach. Maybe there'll be some money available if it does well but a new season would need strong writing.
There are unresolved plot points they can go from such as the rival drug dealer that made a deal with the (now dead) Turkish gangster and Amanda's money laundering trial etc

Bren carried season two on his back. Unless they can script an equally interesting character there's no point in a season 3 the rest of the characters are methodical weak and boring. Season one was like watching paint dry.
I only stuck with it to see it through. Looking at Twitter the Brits are loving it though so we may yet see a revival. I thought Aiden Gillen was underutilised but I also understand it was always going to be hard to not have the Johnboy Power comparisons if you make him a strong character.
I thought seasons two and three were shot back to back.
Don't know for sure, I've heard conflicting views saying it was filmed and others saying it wasn't

Watched Kin & The Tourist. Didnt realise Bren was in both. Same mannerisms just toned the Dub accent down a bit in the Tourist.
Back in 2007 or so the ads for The Sopranos finale all but showed Philly getting one in the head meaning it was absolutely no surprise when you watched it and exactly that happened. They have form for this.
Back about 2019 there was a show called Dublin Murders.
It was going very well until about halfway through the season, the cops find a dead woman who just so happens to be a doppelganger of the female lead detective, so they send her undercover to the rural student house where the woman lived to basically pretend to be their friend, still alive, to investigate the murder. She somehow manages to perfect the accent of the dead woman, mannerisms, gait, presumably has the exact same weight and body type never mind facial features and hair length, and at no stage is she unlucky enough for anybody to go "here dya remember that time five years ago now when me and you went to....".
That was the most ludicrously batshyt plot I have ever seen, in anything.
But what you suggest comes close and all.
She isn't his sister and she didn't get married- how many women do you know have the spare time to be sneaking about with a new man 3 weeks before their wedding?
How many couples aren't living together before the wedding like she presumably is unless he's on nights?
Or don't wear their engagement rock in work?
She took her holidays and told her colleague to get rid of him if he comes back over.

The Brits loved it because the first season probably looked good if you know nothing about Dublin, Ireland and its gangland.
The rest of us know the people who inhabit this realm aren't so well spoken.
They don't dress like centrist rugby dads.
That with CAB laws they are forced to live in top dollar retrofitted ex council houses, not compounds in Ireland's most expensive neighbourhood.
That making out about one third of Gardai, the DPP and the legal industry in general are black is some pretty cringeworthy box ticking.
The second series was quite watchable, albeit not remotely realistic in parts (your man killing two hitmen sent to kill him in the rural house, executing a man at a private airport, it's more Jason Bourne than John Gilligan isn't it).
Other parts showed a lazy lack of research- there's no way Bren being released would have been a surprise to them- EVERYONE gets released once 75% of the sentence from the day you went into custody on remand has elapsed, and despite what they claimed nobody loses their remission in Ireland no matter how much you have acted the maggot in prison- why would they, prison officers are in a union, and as such they want rid of nuisance inmates, not have to tolerate them longer.
And the going rate for a kilo of heroin is nowhere near as cheap as 35k.
i agree with the above as to why it was popular in the uk and we should bear in mind it was made for the american market which explains quite a bit
Well said, I like realism in my gangster drama - the wire, love /hate (quasi realism) and Gomorrah.
Kin was grand but laughably unrealistic
iirc the Dublin Murders correctly, it seemed to take place in a Stephen King type universe, there were 'signs and portents' that some of what was going on was supernatural in nature. At least that was how I interpreted some of the goings on, including some of the twin stuff.
tbh I found Love Hate very realistic. The death toll was fairly grounded in the reality of what a very active Dublin gang might have been doing back then. A good deal of the plots and the characters were directly inspired by real events or were composite characters (John Boy's descent into his coked addled, murder everyone for the slightest perceived disloyalty, was quite clearly a nod to the late Eamon Dunne who was at the height of his paranoid psychotic reign when the show was an idea in the writers heads)
Indeed you would nearly wonder if the writers only felt safe to write the character of John Boy once his inspiration had seen his grand finale in a Cabra pub only a year or so before it started- I certainly wouldn't have felt safe using a living person of his qualities for inspiration for a fictional TV character.
His brother was also a composite of daft, drug addled unbalanced Finglas headers like Daly and Curran, the boss based in Spain clearly a take on Christy K Snr. Love Hate was definitely made with the quiet consultation of Gardai, crime journalists and almost certainly people who were at the very least on the periphery of gangland. Kin, without a doubt, was not.
Like you say, all of this looks a long way from Kin, with its gangsters who dress like investment bankers on the weekend, with a casual shooting count like an 80s action film.
I would say the wire and Gomorrah were ultra realistic. Love hate, id say was realistic but a step down realism wise from those shows. But I can’t tell you really why other than superficial reasons like Robert Sheehan was far too pretty to be in a crime gang. But he was a well written character while obviously the likes of nidge and Fran gave off very convincing vibes.
Ah yes I'd forgotten about that miscasting.
Though TBH even in that world there is the occasional outlier- Ross Browning looks like he manages a vegan juice bar in Greystones.
Gomorrah turned into the A-team in later seasons….started so good and might be worse than Kin by the end.
I only watched up to season 3 truth be told
Season 2 starts on BBC1 on Tuesday 13th February at 10.40pm.
We might see S3 so at some stage?
I wouldn't hold out on it, all the actors were released from their contracts and all have moved on to other projects they might not be available to film a season 3.

Yes I see some of the cast will be on The One Show on Monday, hopefully they might have some update if any on where the future of the show is.
Unfortunately no real news on yesterday's The One Show, they had Aidan Gillen and Emmett J Scanlan on, basically they said no confirmation for a Series 3 but their hope is that if Series 2 was also a success on BBC it would help progress it.
