A new messge now. Very frustrating.
Should be able to add your PTSB card to Apple Pay and top up that way
Sorry not to sound clueless but I've an ex KBC now BOI credit card. Are you saying I can lodge cash into that account for free?
Yes you get an irish iban so can lodge just like any other traditional bank. You cannot lodge cash or cheques however so you may want a free ebs account or a deposit account (no current account) in aib or boi or ptsb for that rare occurance if you see the need and transfer from there to revolut.
Yes, no fees on credit cards except for interest if you don't pay your bill on time.
What are you on about?
Of course you can lodge cash or cheques direct to your BOI Credit card either via a BOI lodgement machine or cashier. Not everyone pays their bill electronically (using an IBAN).
Thought they were asking about the Revolut.
Back to €70 for refer a friend for me
Ive been using my Revolut as primary account for about five years now with no issue. App and features are light years ahead of AIB, I remember at the time of closing that account the teller had never even heard of Revolut and when I told him why I was switching he couldn't figure out how Revolut made money without charging fees.
Have you encountered any / many places that won't accept your Revolut Debit Card?
I've actually recently found somewhere that won't take my aib debit card, bit revolut works fine
Moved to it full time post KBC and can't think of a time it's not been accepted in person including EU and Australian travel. There has occasionally been issues online with transactions where it wont work but aib visa would. But then the reverse has also happened too where it works and Aib doesn't. The contact less 150€ between entering chip and pin is annoying but doesn't happen when using Google wallet at least.
It's free to try out so give it a trial run if unsure.
Random on mine between 10 & 200. A max of 5 to Feb 13th
Revolut cards are now standard MasterCard debit cards. There’s no reason for any merchant in the world not to accept them. There were issues previously when they were classified as prepaid debit cards, a card type that some merchants refuse to accept in offline conditions like flights, but that’s not a problem any more.
I have a revolut Mastercard debit as well as a Visa debit with them which is handy in the extremely rare occasion where Mastercard debit are not accepted and Visa debit is (once abroad in Holland to date) or more likely (but not really likely) the Mastercard system was down, but happy to have the option and it was offered to me as free at the time for some unknown reason you can decide which you want or get one of each in the add cards section.
Have never been able to use my Revolut card in the local Post Office. Although I do think that's more something to do with their card reader than anything to do with An Post themselves.
You can't cant collect deposits from the public in any part of the EU without a banking license. In some countries it is possible to get around this by having the customer leave money at a collection point for forwarding to a bank. However since the bank is not taking deposits at the point where the client leaves the money, they have no responsibility towards the client for such deposits, so you need to look towards the T&C you accept at the collection point and those usually absolve them from any responsibility as well. A further point to keep in mind is that your deposit could be rejected by the bank due to MLA rules and then you are faced with the challenge of trying to get your money back...
I don't see this model being widely adapted as it could cause a lot of customer care issues, costs and bad press when it goes wrong... The EU directive on third party financial services might eventually lead to some kind of service opening up, but as yet that remains to be seen.
I've used mine multiple times in the post office.
It's definitely a local issue for your post office /card reader
FWIW “revolut cards are now standard MasterCard” isn’t true for everyone. Mine is a Visa card for example (have a virtual Mastercard with them too)
My local credit union has signs up saying “revolut cards not accepted”, and oddly enough I heard something about PTSB cards on a flight home.
More details??
Lately I am getting lots of notices of future transactions from the likes of Tesco from certain stores that will be taken in x days despite the actual transaction and deduction from my total going through on the transaction date in question, no idea what is the point of this, utterly confusing and stupid.
That may well be anti competitive behaviour by the CU. How are they going to know what card you use when the card is on your phone?
Almost definitely in breach of scheme rules with their acquirer. You can't discriminate based on card issuer.
I got a text just before Christmas from the CU that web payments over 1000 to revolut or non Irish banks would require verbal authorisation
Yes we can otherwise we would not be able to process the transactions and ensure it is property accounted for. But it has nothing to do with the card, it happens on the service providers side.
It is already available here, I got a notification a few weeks ago that cash lodgements was now live and the option to add cash is there when you go to top up with a number of local shops/filling stations showing up as places where it can be deposited.
In relation to places not accepting revolut, Aer lingus don't appear to and I have tried and the transaction has failed so they aren't just saying it.
Can you explain that?
Notification in what app for who?
A notification to say that cash deposits were now available in Ireland.
