No Brendan O'connor for the 2nd weekend in a row.
Hope they've enjoyed their time off over the Christmas, I finished up in my own job at lunchtime on the 21st and I'm not back at work until tomorrow. They're entitled to their holidays as well and hopefully it gives one or two others a chance to gain some opportunities and experience while they're off. Failings of senior management aren't the presenters' fault.
All at the same time?
Most of the "Top talent" back now ...folksy Ray still hangin in on the arternoon graveyard slot at a cool €450K + !
Be snapped up over in the UK so he would ...could be trouserin up to £80K sterling like Tubburty ?
Can't figure out why these Dudes don't give it a try.....
I wonder will we have a "Try it Sometime" moment from the disgraced once? Who will conduct the Interview?
"Two houses, one in Dublin and an Apartment in London, two housekeepers and multiple bags of sneachta...on my wages? You try it sometime."
No sign of Claire Byrne after a week. Carole Coleman presenting Morning Ireland, Samantha Libreri and Cian McCormack have already filled in this year. Just the five full time presenters.
Tell us more about Sound Operators thing? Surely the producer would make decisions on that?
There is no evidence of a producer whatsoever in that mess of a show
The story as I heard it was that early on in the life of the Ray D'Arcy Show, he was determined to drive his own desk, even though a Sound Op. was assigned and rostered for the show. They could still very well be paid to be available for that to this day, I don't know.
The D'Arcy team also wanted a printer in the studio, as was the case in Today FM.
The team got a flat "no" to that request from somebody senior, pointing out that the noise of a printer in the studio would be too loud.
There followed a rant by somebody on the imported D'Arcy team about the Civil Service mentality of this decision - to much mirth from the techies.
The imported D'Arcy team never did mind taking the Civil Service money, though.
Strong bang of “Tell them fuhherk all and get the hell outa Dodge” from RTE today.
Goggins must be packed……
Shay Byrne has been busy mixing it up all week with all sorts of genres. A bit of Country and Western, a big of Country, a bit of Country and Irish, a bit of Irish and Country, a bit of Western, a bit of Western and Country and some Irish.
And because he's on next week as well, he brought in an 80's compilation and ABBA Gold that he has in the car just in case he runs out.
Did he play any of his Rising Time favourites:
Shaney Boy by Kevin Johnson
Mr Bojangles by Sammy Davis Junior
Margaritaville by Jimmy Buffet
Anything from the Hamilton soundtrack
Hi Shane! 😁
Jesus christ Brenda is back with another petrol station extravaganza.
We had another Marty Party followed by The County Measure AGAIN earlier.... the BH offering on R1 is so bloody stale, boring and repetitive
Which of the choir is doing the driving?
At least we hadn’t two hours of Ronan Collins.
Be thankful for small mercys , horse.
I'm not sure as I've just woken up, but it sounds like they have dug up Derek Davis to present Drivetime.
The L O N G ads before 1pm 6 pm etc. they sound like a taunt.
unlike his replacement, Ronan knew his music without relying on the internet. a proper music radio presenter sadly a dying breed.
Ah now Brendan I've made it well aware here that I've a soft spot for Ronan, I'll not take the bait 😂
Good lad…admirable restraint…I say admirable restraint.
No "What it says in the papers" this morning, and NO REFERENCE to this either from the continuity announcer.
This has happened on several occasions before. Not the standard you'd expect from the national broadcaster.
And, once again no "What it says in the papers" this morning!
Anyone any information about this?
SATURDAY 29/06/2024 - no "What it says in the papers" and no reference to this either.
I've known crummy pirate radio stations with higher standards than RTE.
I know that Dobbo has now left the building but are they short enough of hacks to sending Philip Boucher Hayes to Blighly for the UK election coverage, as what happened on Friday?
Lot of new voices springing up in Montrosia, Losty.
Seems a lot of the 'heavies' have taken off for the Summer.
The number of coinciding sporting events has also stretched the roster out a good bit.
No "It says in the papers" this morning. Holidays in full swing.
They piled for a special news edition of the news at 8am.
Met Éireanns direct line to Montrosia is coming up trumps today. The "stars" got a heads up on todays good weather.

D'Arcy show
All have stand ins today.
They're probably at the launch of the autumn schedule.
The champagne will be flowing
The good times are back!
