I know this was briefly mentioned in the Limerick Improvement Projects thread but I feel it may warrant a lot of discussion so probably best to have a separate thread

Under the proposals within the Limerick bus network redesign report, the level of bus services in Limerick city and its suburbs will increase by approximately 70%. 61% of people in Limerick city would be located within 400 metres walk of a bus stop, up from 53%. The added service levels will be enabled by the extension of bus services to new areas, more routes with frequent services, an enhanced Sunday timetable and a new 24-hour route.

A lot of changes proposed, the most notable being the introduction of a 24hr service on proposed route 4 (current 304).

Some areas are still seeing spare enough 30-60 minute services including St Mary's Park and Ballynanty.

Another point of bus connects is to connect which is why the hopper fair is a big part of it. Buses to hubs benefit everyone when the hopper fair is introduced.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but the Busconnects Limerick website states that there will be a Park and Ride as part of the plans... Has there been an announcement where this might be located? The website is very vague

AFAIK an area mooted for the P&R is out by the M20 exit to the Raheen Business Park.

They'd want to hurry on and finalise the plans, the plan is due in 2025

an interesting new development includes a busgate from St. Brigid's School onto the Childers Road to allow onward journey to Castletroy for proposed new Route 6.

It's concerning that they haven't proposed any details on how buses will access UL. It's the second most important location in Limerick in terms of public transport destination and they've essentially said we'll sort this out another time.

It appears the plan to create new road in between the east and west gates has been removed and all buses will access campus now via east gate, subject to change.

Coonagh Cross looks very interesting. Is there any sort of agreement in place in regards to turning this into park and ride ?

It's a genuinely transformative plan (unlike all the other times that word is thrown around). Sadly 2025 is still a long way away for a start knowing that start dates are never met so probably 2026.

I think the real battle will be the next stage which is the physical changes needed (bus lanes etc.). These won't even be permitted before the new network starts.

There's a P&R going in at the Newport Roundabout, no route is shown going out there though. Presumably they will have their own dedicated busses
