Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

Are there no actual Galway "senior hurlers" who could do it just as well...
What is the definition of a ‘non permanent contract’ versus ‘a permanent contract’?
Wrong side of the county.
Well Brendan, a "non-permanent" contract, unlike a permanent contract, is not permanent.
Surely non permanent contract is by definition a contractor?
Yeah a one off gig.
They can still be an employee and on payroll, just like a normal employee. For example a person covering an employee of maternity leave. The issue is with self employed contractors.
Exactly two weeks before he decided to step down, he did an interview where he said he had no intention whatsoever of stepping down.
This interview was done on March 2nd.

Tubridy did the nation two huge favours. First, implementing the sly topups pay deal with NK and RTE which brought the whole house of cards down and second, managing to cock up the open goal that Bakhurst presented to him and failing to walk back into RTE, job secured.
To think but only for sheer greed and vanity, he'd be there presenting the LLS for another 20 odd years. Only a fool would think he was ever going to voluntarily walk away from those huge salaries, national status and tiny work load.
Did any of our fearless journalists, the ones who claim to “speak truth to power”, question Tubridy about his dramatic u-turn on the eve of Saint Patrick’s Day when the director-general was out of the country? The timing speaks volumes about their relationship. Was it the audit which had just unearthed the “Renault” payments that Dee Forbes had disguised so she could pretend Tubs was making less than half a mil. ?
It’s an education to look back on all the fluff that the media produced about Tubs and his anachronistic TV show which rarely had an A-list guest and never asked an awkward question.
There was a point when I was searching for info on RTÉ that I was removing Tubridy as part of the search, and even then there was a massive amount of fluff on goss, her, joe, extra and other "news" sites about what they wore on some show or they said this and that.
Here's some of the news about rte today
and the usual TLLS Toy Show show type headlines
I take it the honest contractors are going first
They are probably the people who do most of the work.
I know you're all about slagging him off. I get it. But this is a nasty, nasty post. Using an ill child to score points against someone you don't even know is low.
It is RTE. It seems to have the same question only a lot more are involved.

RTE figures for PK's LLS toy show are 1.7 million viewers. Seems that it was more popular than Tubridy's last toy show:
"Friday’s edition of the festive show drew an average of more than 1.7 million viewers across the live broadcast and catch-up on Saturday and Sunday, up by 200,000 from the 2022 edition of the show."
The Toy Man is dead, long live the Toy Man.
Probably. I actually watched a few minutes of it this year, something I would never have done in previous years because of the odious guy that was hosting it 😛 I'd say there were others who tuned in just because Tubs wasn't there.
Anecdotally my own kids said they really enjoyed it this year, there was more toys on it.
They had got a little bored of it over the previous couple of years.
Impossible. We were told, assured even, on this thread that it would be a disaster with PK and RTE must bring Tubridy back for the Toy Show.
Seems like hundreds of thousands disagree.
Baffling!
I don't watch it, never did, well not since I was a kid, which was in the Gaybo era. 😁.
Patrick Kielty seems to have struck the right note from anything I have read about it.
Ryan Tubridy's media firm paid out over €880,000 in directors' pay over two years.

At least 200,000 people agree. The LLS toy show under Tubridy just became about Tubridy. This LLS toy show was about the kids and the toys. The one question that should be going through the minds of RTE management now is how much more have they got wrong about their "talent"?
Definitely Claire Byrne was over promoted. Her salary is particularly outrageous.
All their "top presenters" are hospital radio quality
110%
OMG - the money that has been wasted... grrr... does not bare thinking about
I always said "I have an irrational dislike of RT".. never liked him - but didn't think about it enough to figure it out.. (i don't watch much TV)... but now.. I can see.. he is ALLLLL about HIM..
I adored this year's TS - twas all about the kids - their talent and the toys... PK was just a facilitator.. which is only right!! He was BRILLIANT
That question wont be going through anyones mind, instead it will be "why did that string of piss ruin it for the rest of us?"
They were all in on it, to various degrees.
RT turning on the lights in Clifden. Why Clifden??
Turns out:
Ignore the first line. The crowd oviously went "Wow" because of the lights, not because of who switched them on.
"Staying at the Abbeyglen Castle Hotel, which is run by his cousins, Ryan was kitted out in a Christmas jumper and winter coat."
His cousins run the nearby hotel, thats why he was doing that particular gig. Another way to stay relevant I suppose.
Looking in from the outside you'd forgive anyone for thinking how spiteful could you be to try and get in the newspapers as an ex presenter on the night your replacement is hosting their first toy show
1.7 million people watched the LLS toy show. A few hundred people turned up to see a formerly famous ex-RTE celebrity switch them on. Maybe Clifden can get someone famous next year.
