Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

A kind of bizarro world Doctor Who in that the show gets better when the Doctor is replaced? Being more cynical about it, it looks like RTE is trying to remove all memories of Tubridy while rebranding the LLS. Wonder if his portrait has been removed from that wall of RTE celebrities in Montrose?
Regards...jmcc
Strange considering that RTE is reusing the "Toy Man" thing. Could it mean that RTE rather than Tubridy originated it? Going to be hard on Tubridy watching the LLS toyshow and thinking "that should have been me".
"But this young couple with a wee girl passed by and she came up to me and called me the Toy Man and I suddenly thought, `yeah, that’s me!’
Noooooooooo 🤣 oh how that must hurt the original toy man. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Tbh, I thought that never happened except in Tubridy's imagination 😁
Maybe the Toy Man is kind of like Doctor Who or the Dalai Lama?
Joe Duffy one is pure mental. He is funny.
I was abroad for nearly all of the noughties so missed the whole Savage Eye thing.Any bit of it I've seen is very funny and that clip is hilarious 😂
And calling them out of their lack of scientific know how. Lol.
Someone isn't going to like this:
"Patrick says he’s looking forward to testing the latest toys with his very own team of elves and he says that younger viewers are beginning to realise that he is the new Toy Man in town.
"There was a moment about a month ago when I was walking down the street and normally you have grown-ups coming up to you and saying that was good or that was rubbish," he says.
"But this young couple with a wee girl passed by and she came up to me and called me the Toy Man and I suddenly thought, `yeah, that’s me!’ That’s the point that puts you slightly over the edge. So far, there has been nothing but goodwill." "

This post is hilarious
..
That's a pity was hoping for a revival of the Pat Kenny Toy Show.
Unbridled belligerence and utter contempt for the children.
Actually some reassurance here from the man himself
Paddy (52) will be using a tried and trusted format. “Basically, the way it’s going to work is exactly the way it worked whenever I was a child and we used to see Gay doing the Toy Show, which is all the stuff that Gay was testing out we genuinely thought there was a chance that that stuff could end up on Main Street, Dundrum (his childhood home in Co Down) on Christmas morning — and everything changed slightly and was slightly downgraded.”

Yeah if they don’t change the format and don’t have eh, fcking toys FFS , and just ego segments for the presenter and misery guts sections I’ll be out too
His demeanor is basically "I don't want to know... this really isn't important"
And really looks like he wants to stand up and leave.
It's embedded in the Indo article which jmcc posted - link below
Actually, just going back to the article, I'd also question the reporting style and language.
Three RTÉ stars besides Ryan Tubridy earned more last year than the broadcaster’s planned €250,000 pay cap, according to official figures
That should read - Three RTÉ stars besides Ryan Tubridy were paid more last year than the broadcaster’s planned €250,000 pay cap, according to official figures. They didn't earn it, from my point of view
I think he'll do quite well. he has a quite pleasant radio voice - the English listeners will be all over it.
where is this interview?
The Star headline is more to the point: “Dozy National Broadcaster Wakes Up!”
It is incredible that Daithi was allowed to be “Brand Ambassador” for hair plugs and the only limit was that he couldn’t use his own show to talk about it. Who could possibly have dreamed that he would walk down the hall to Oliver Callan and get the “plug” in there?
There’s nixers and then there’s taking your boss for a ride 😎
The Irish Mirror made it up.
It's now an internet fact. So more credence than reality.
"Veil of silence" RTE !
Nothing new there, the one thing the PAC should insist on is clarity and full disclosure by RTE on dealings with reform.
This burying stuff in a fog of smoke and mirrors is over, or should be.
Nothing which has happened yet has given me any confidence whatsoever, that genuine 'reform' will happen.
I thought the (rather amateur) interview with KB was illuminating. To me, he came across as arrogant; dismissive about the review of Marty, Doireann and the talented Lottie’s “commercial interests” - “I think he’s (Adrian) looked at it” but there’s going to be no follow up, no explanations, no sanctions if appropriate; in fact there’s a veil of silence to be drawn across, so we will never know. Also the repetition of the mechanism for getting the earnings cap down below €250k, namely that they’ll work less hours. So money will be spent on filling the radio silence. And still no transparency on earnings FFS!
We’re all being played for fools. Nothing is changing in RTÉ
Who told us that?
It is and always will be jobs for those they know, relations and friends offspring with the odd 'alternative' presenter just to show we are inclusive.
Unless serious changes occurs nothing will alter.
Darcy was quick to head off to 'greatwr things' yet when the big success I'm imagining he was expecting didn't occur, he was very happy to Weasley his way back to rte and a vastly overpaid salary.
Duffy will see his days out there. He is too old and dreary to be taken on anywhere else imo.
Yes p Kenny in his day was good on current affairs/politics etc but who in their right mind thought he was worth the salary he was getting?
Rte management will keep out only as much as they are forced to feed the PAC and public. They truly think they're above any rules and regs.
And not one of them has an angle that makes them worth anywhere near that money - a snotty nosed kid out of school could do some of their jobs
Though I do think RTE seem to throw these random people into some presenting positions knowing they are useless (with no experience) to make the star presenter look good (a few that were on Prime Time of late come to mind)
More RTE payments to the L'Oreal class "talent". Because they were worth it.
Why the Hell should these people be bailed out with taxpayer money?
And the main quote from the article: "Former Late Late Show host Tubridy’s €515,000 earnings in 2022 top the list."
Post of the thread, imo.
It's an unreal deal. And plenty of time to do extra work elsewhere. Before the advent of digital photography I get it. But now... No offence meant, but how difficult is it to take a photo? I know I'll be glamed for this, not wanting to take away from the profession, but in my job I've seen these photographers coming in and taking shots if staff in various interactions and I have to say, I've been thinking how simple is that. But what would I know hah!
250,000 + 100,000 does not make 500,000+. TBH I think PK is over paid and I think its a sweetheart deal.
As I said upthread I listen to Q102 when I am at home. It's light, easy background listening for me. Music, a bit of chat, not much, and more music.
They mentioned Tubridy today and had clips of him saying how wonderful it was all going to be. I didn't listen in detail tbh to what he had to say. But it sounded a bit like every year when RTE would launch the Autumn schedule and he would hold forth about the LLS and how it was all going to be .. bla bla bla.
I didn't watch or listen when he was in RTE, I won't be listening when he takes up the new job.
Well I'm sure that it will come as a relief to many people that Ryan's profound and intelligent "observations" may be a thing of the past. Now he is just a poorly paid, record-spinning monkey. Intriguing! Sure if he's short of a few bob for the rent I'm sure you'd be willing to help your messiah out Sunny 😜
Toy show this week. I might actually watch for the first time in years because Kielty comes across as somebody with a decent personality who can interact with people and children in a normal, friendly way rather than the self-serving manchild that stunk up the show for the past 15 years. Having said that if it's full of odious, spoiled south Dublin brats, I'm out before the first break!
