At this stage, it's a joke. Every county ground should have floodlights, regardless of the philosophy. I know the local residents would object to being given 100K each simply if the Kilkenny county board suggested it, but floodlights are a different story.
Not just that, but the GAA should be pushing for every county to have two more grounds, with floodlights and a full stand as well, in the 10 years. Just something functional. The option of having three good grounds that can support evening games at this time of year would be very welcome.
Partitionists. Even in the GAA of all places they hang around like a bad smell. Pat Spillane for one. RTE is full of them. I notice it in the snide remarks said about Armagh football for example. Pity they lost to Galway that day. I think the Casement Park upgrade for the Euros is a huge win. The Pommies get to foot most of the bill (minus a dig out from Dublin) as the price of securing the Euro Championship from an otherwise hostile UEFA. Roger Casement will be smiling when the Ulster Final is hosted there.

Cusack Stand Upgrade in Croke Park Underway
Clones recycled the previous Cusack Stand wooden seats in it's Roslea Rd end stand.
Fitzgerald Park in Kilmallock currently has some of the old "sawn off" PuC seats and I think the original Hogan stand ended there when via a stay in the Gaelic Grounds.
Wouldn't be surprised to see loads of faded blue seats around some clubs soon enough.
Hadnt heard about the CP renovation until now. Would love if they changed the seat colour to something a little less boring and maybe colours that are not the Dubs ones.

Croke Park will be selling off seats in pairs. Not much detail yet but it said a max of 250.
Don't know if that's 250 per person or they are only refurbing 250 for sale.

Something about the warranty on the seats not being transferrable to other parties, and Croke Park being afraid that if a seat snapped or otherwise malfunctioned, and somebody was injured, that they might end up on the hook for it. Don't fully understand myself, but am led to believe that's the jist of it.
many reasons but I noticed you’ve changed the subject to something pretty different to dublin GAA getting home use of a stadium and not paying anything but rental. A sweet deal so fcuk knows what problems they could help the FAI solve.

I don't know. But can only assume it was fully considered before the decision was made to do things this way.
Seems a waste to not make the seats available to county or club grounds, but would like to think they'd have done so if it were possible, without the risk of any subsequent issues arising.
It's hard one with Dublin and a stadium. There Home stadium is to small for Football . Do they build a 25/30 K stadium like they where thinking about which will cost probably up on a 100 million or use an asset like croke Park that's sitting there not used during the league. Once they are paying the rent I don't see an issue as its money back in to the association

but my main point I took issue with was your suggestion they offer consultancy to the FAI. The fai has challenges that dublin GAA simply don’t. I don’t think dublin GAA really would offer much expertise as their experience of hard times and tough challenges is limited.

The FAI have proven time and time again they are a badly run organisation and don't really care about their own professional soccer teams on this island.

If the Dubs do indeed pay rent for the use of Croke Park, then this year (for example), it would only be for the three home matches they had in the National League.
They wouldn't have had to pay for their League Final because that was a national fixture where it wasn't the responsibility of either side to provide the venue.
Wouldn't have had to pay for their championship matches either, because it's actually Leinster Council who pays rent for venues for Leinster Championship - e.g. if Wexford (my county) are playing Kilkenny in the hurling championship in Wexford Park, Leinster Council pays rent to Wexford County Board for the use of the venue. Or if that match was in Nowlan Park, they'd pay rent to Kilkenny County Board.
So, when the Dubs play a Leinster Championship match in Croke Park, it's actually Leinster Council rather than the Dubs themselves who'd be paying for the use of the venue.
And when they get to the All-Ireland stages, it's on Croke Park themselves to provide the venue. Obviously they don't pay rent to themselves since they own the property, but Dublin County Board wouldn't have to pay rent for it either.
So overall, Dublin's rent bill this year would be for just three League matches. I don't know how much that would come to, but I'm sure it would be far less than the cost of providing and maintaining a 25,000 to 30,000 ground of their own.
And that in turn gives them another financial advantage over other counties, because no other county has a realistic or viable option of just renting a venue when they need one, instead of providing and maintaining their own.
I would bet they are only selling 250 to create artificial scarcity.
The seats wouldn't be worth much if there was 80000 of them available to buy!

The Dubs don't need another large stadium but I'm surprised that they aren't looking for capacity for a few thousand at Spawell. I'm sure they could get decent crowds for southside senior club fixtures. Getting to and from PP would put a lot of people off attending there. Could also host the odd early season county game, under ago, etc. There is a big market for them there in the south of the city.

I wonder if Croke Park will replace the seats with bigger ones. I'm average build and size and they are a tight squeeze. Then if someone fatter sits in beside me it's terrible. Iv been at the Emirates and they have way bigger seats as do Wembley. Its a disaster that people are getting fatter but they need to male bigger seats . As an aside in the Emirates amd moderm stadiums people can walk past your seat without you having to get up to let them Past.
