Russia's blanket interference in media and politics at large should be a bigger deal than it is. I would have expected a lot more to be made of it by governments because it's creating division and a swing to the extremist right wing groups and personalities that are just Putin puppets.

So further reports suggest Russia bombed the hill very hard forcing the Ukrainians to evacuate their tunnel trenches. They were too slow and suffered some losses.
Russian soldiers while they have placed their flag which has now been destroyed on top didn't take up positions as the previous Ukrainian positions were either too damaged or destroyed making this a no man's land rather then a stronghold for Russia to launch further attacks.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out as Russian attacks have reduced dramatically the past 2 days while they regroup. Fingers crossed for a positive next few weeks.

Russia is trying to stretch the Ukrainians again,I wouldn't be risking big numbers to hold a slag heap , Ukraine doesn't need another bakmuth yes they done a Fair amount of damage to Wagner forces but also suffered heavy losses themselves, it's going to a case of who can keep finding the numbers,and how much artillery the Ukrainians can keep up with demands of keeping the Russians back, the current situation in Washington isn't going to help either

I've had similar thoughts myself about the levels of men and machinery the Russians are sending into battle.
I see reports of 1000s of men killed in a day, but wonder are these experienced soldiers or poorly trained fresh soldiers.
We laugh at WW2 Russian tanks and trucks but if they can get the job done that's all that matters.
I'm rooting for Ukraine but the creeping Russian territorial gains are worrying.
I'd love to see an analysis of Russia's capabilities as percentage of what they can can dig out of storage/museums.
Hopefully the recent ATACAMS strikes and the impending deliveries of F16s make a real difference.

Report from the Ukraine side that claims the line holds at Avdiyivka and that there was just a flag planted temporarily on the edge of the slag heap that was later removed by Ukraine's armed forces using a drone.
Did they capture the flag with the drone?
Or by removal do they mean destroyed?
It is obviously a serious situation, people are fighting and dying but sometimes in war there are catch-22 moments of absurdity and something about sending a drone to remove a flag strikes me as such.
