RTE refuse to says. The assumption is he got a huge payout of the tax payers hard earned. "It was an amicable agreement with his legal team present."

That's the rub of the issue. It's not that he'd be getting a big payout for a job well done, but rather if it was in his contract and RTE don't have a legal basis to deny him the payout, they have to pay it out.
Catherine Martin needs to act here. No point waiting for a report on governance next year. These severance packages are still happening TODAY. Get in there and find out what is happening now!!! Stop wasting our money.

Catherine Martin has been awful in this whole debacle from the start. She gives the impression that she really doesn't give a sh1t about it and rather than trying to sort out the mess she is burying her head and hoping it goes away.
She has been utterly useless. Her first big political test and she walked out of the exam after 10 mins. Fail fail fail.
Of course Leo and MM are happy to let the Greens get the blame.

Probably dragging it out in the hopes that it will be forgot about and then they can carry on as before, which is basically what seems to be going on here. RTE management and "Talent" don't want to change, they will take the money though.
It's worse than that it seems likely that the current RTE is unwilling to make any real change at all.

I don't think there's any evidence that Tubridy expected to keep his full salary after he left it. My own supposition is that RTE were afraid of the damage the while thing would do to their biggest earning broadcast but were prepared to take the risk on a comparatively inconsequential 1 hour radio show. Until Backhurst arrived in and looked for an excuse to get shut of him.
I could be wrong of course. Maybe Tubridy leaving had more to do with the reported clashes he had with the new head of entertainment Alan Tyler

Govmts are highly reliant on the state broadcaster. In reality then, FFG needs RTE more than RTE needs FFG. The funny thing here is that regardless of how f****d RTE are, they have so little respect for FFG that they won't even pretend to play nice to get their 60M. Also there's word going around that RTE Execs will not be answering stupid PAC questions until FFG also starts asking questions from the FFG-appointed RTE Chair i.e. glowing Moya Doherty. LOL!

extra.ie published an article less than 2 weeks before Tubridy quit TLLS, insisting he was going nowhere anytime soon - Bizzare!
Tubridy's quitting TLLS came on the very same week that RTE top brass became aware that this thing was about to blow up - Coincidental!
He knew alright!
RTE staff are not public sector nor civil servants.
Pity.
RTE would not take such an ultimatum seriously. They know the government would not allow them get into such financial difficulty they had to start cancelling 'important' programs.
Their internal solicitor was fine example of what they think of themselves.
Hopefully the Govt realise that if they think they can get away with bailing out RTE without everything being exposed and the absolute shambles they ran, coupled with the riding bareback of the taxpayer, and JQT will not react!!!
