Does this look bad this far out?
Still no orange wind warning which is odd, surely its more warranted than the rain
The day is young!
probably want to be as accurate as they can be, at least people are well aware of it now...
"Sadly the models have upgraded the storm a little with some potential for local Orange level winds in the South"
At least that dot isn't exactly the location of the city centre of our second most populous urban area.....gulp😶
I'm assuming they're debating orange or red and don't want to put up orange and then change it to red a few hours after
I would be surprised if it was red. If orange warning schools can close i think anyway if they feel the need.
PROBABLY SHOULD GO ORANGE,THEN RED OUT AT SEA, then if it all goes tits up they can cover themselves that way, thats what they started doing recently anyways to make up for the fact that the warning system is inadequate and flawed.
Big range here from 95-139 km/hr
Doesn’t matter what they do. Will still get the stick.
High tide Cork city shortly before 5pm tomorrow evening .. will we get away with it?
Nope. With the rain, wind, low pushing up from the south. Will flood.
id say tides are gonna be really nasty
I'd imagine if you're saying red out to sea, that should still probably be red for Cork as the City is going to get hit with that anyway
Red warning at sea does not equal red warning Level conditions in the city.
If Red Level conditions were expected in the city, a regular Red warning would be issued. These conditions are not expected.
Some serious rampers on this thread 😀
I think it's clearly orange looking at charts people have been posting with a potential red though. Based on their own metrics, red is when we get gusts over 130kmph and the UKMO was looking at that at least.
Three to five looks like being peak in the Dublin area tomorrow afternoon, should be a fun rush hour with the wind, rain and possible downed trees.

Wow there's a lot of rain there.
Would we usually know by this stage if it's going to be an orange or red wind warning for tomorrow? I can't remember the usual timeline.
What does the weather system mean for flights in and out of Cork Airport tomorrow .
I think they might be waiting to see what afternoon models show.
I wouldn't be chancing a pre departure pint
...start looking for a god!
A hard one to call but I would urge taking extra caution in urban areas anyway just for the fact that there are still huge trees and branches coming down after the last storm. A massive one came down beside Lansdowne station last week in moderate winds.
The trees in Dublin are in full leaf and some of them have been severely weakened structurally from a very intense storm not long ago. I'm expecting a good few to topple tomorrow and this storm will be right through business /school hours
I'd expect delays/cancellations
Where can you find the tornado risk from a storm?
Thinking the conditions look very similar to when tornadoes were embedded in a storm that hit South wexford.
If we are ramping for tornados can I say the dreaded S word too? 😂
Snowdadoes!
Hi Aisling.
Have you a link to those charts. Thanks.
