A reliable goal kicker lacking with the lower teams.

As already said, they wouldn't cos Russian rugby has stagnated since their 2011 appearance and weren't gonna qualify this year. Which is my point: qualification can beget development if investment happens. As is my examples given historically. - and currently with Uruguayan and South American rugby.

I thought France were bad v Uruguay, Wales are worse again.

Portugal have been the better side, imo. Wales have had about 10 minutes where there were better, and capitalized on 3 opportunities...they haven't had many more. Portugal nab another try and it's absolutely game on. Clock is probably going to beat them though.

Pity Portugal don't have a good kicker. Scoreline should be closer

Was coming on to say something similar.

Portugal are proving themselves to be a decent side. Georgia have been stuck in no man's land for over a decade, and Spain would be here if it wasn't for admin issues.

There HAS to be something put in place to give them more access to so called Tier 1 nations.

Same applies to Uruguay and to an extent Chile.

Surely that was a Wales knock on?

    Obstruction in midfield. Blatant

ITV reiterating that many of the Portuguese in lower level rugby and the jump up is significant. That's fine but let's not forget a lot of the Welsh players play for Welsh clubs so can probably relate!

    Wales don't deserve the BP.

Fitness wise Portugal have been excellent.

Don't think it was deliberate, but it should probably be a red regardless. You can't kick people in the face even if you're in the air.

Would an expanded Under-20s six nations be worth a try for a few years. Give the Tier 2 youth teams an opportunity against quality opponents that would hopefully straighten their senior teams in a few years.

That's where bunker is good - give yellow and then have a look. Would have been a long delay debating it

What's up with Faletau? He looks green.

Have thought this myself in the past. Add a couple of teams in, go to two groups with play offs for final position, everyone still gets 5 games and the likes of Georgia and Portugal get good exposure to a higher level of competition and all the benefits that goes with that.

If Portugal had a stronger front row and a little more composure they’d have run Wales a lot closer. As it is they would give Italy a run for their money.

It's at least worth trying. Don't really see the downside.

It would help but unless changes happen at adult level then it wouldnt do huge amount in the long term

Problem is some of the 6 nations wont agree because they will lose to Georgia etc

FIRA(now rugby europe) have been running underage competitions along side the senior tournaments for years. Ireland and some of the other 6 nations sides used to compete in it. For years it was seen as the second under 18 competition and ireland sent the schools u18s to a 5 nations tournament with the other 6 nations sides while the u18 clubs team competed in the FIRA competition. then the 5 nations event stopped and all sides entered the FIRA competition. in 2015 Georgia and Portugal beat several of the 6 nations sides and the year after all the 6 nations sides pulled out of the FIRA competition....

Is the U20 RWC annual? Georgia already play in division 1 of that and under usual points difference rules would have made the semis at South Africa's expense. France seem to win it every year now.

Scotland now play in division 2 and were beaten by Uruguay for promotion to the next division 1 championship, which was a shock in Scotland.

Given wales should have lost last weekend and were not great today, they are lucky Aus are terrible could be hilarious when they play someone good.

Also who is the women commentating on virgin media - for the love of good she needs to stop talking.

under 20 world championship is annual. Yeah Scotland were relegated in the last tournament before covid in 2019 and couldnt qualify back to world championship this year

    Wales look a weak outfit.

Looked like straight shoulder to head contact on Faletau as he went in for the try at the end, but it won't be looked at in any way.

I'd love to know how many actual head contacts are in any match. I'd say dozens.

A bit more savvy, improved execution, a few moments go differently and they were in with a shout at winning. I think Wales were shoving early a lot at the scrum. Wales experience won them that game, but scoreline is extremely flattering, and really doesn't reflect the closeness of the game at all imo.
