Hi in theory can one get a taxi license and get an EV under the Taxi EV grant scheme.
Would not be using it as a taxi just using the loophole to get a Highly priced EV for cheaper.
Note as mentioned new taxi drivers can only drive wheelchair taxis. Get the grinder out to your Tesla model X...
😂😂😂
another stupid rule
Unless you’re a wheelchair user, struggling to find taxis on a regular basis
Making it mandatory for new entrants is stupid, there will still be operators who already have WAV or those who decide to spend extra on a WAV
Which still leaves a huge gap for wheelchair users trying to go about their daily business.
Mod Note: The EV subforum is still not the place to complain about general requirements for taxi's and public service vehicles, may I suggest https://www.boards.ie/categories/commuting-transport
So all SPSV operators should have a WAV ?
IIRC that's the plan. All new entrants have a WAV so as the older drivers retire the fleet is fully WAV.
IMO with the current grants available every new or replacement taxi should be WAV and a BEV.
Where did you get that from?
In an ideal world, yes. The same as all buildings should be accessible to all.
If the WAV rule wasn’t in place we’d have hoards of entrants in the car segment and no WAV on the road.
Not one EV on the road is WEV currently bar the VW ID Buzz
You have to get the car converted. Same as ICE used to be. But there are a few EV’s that are WAV compatible once converted. That’s what the WAV grant is for, to aid or cover the conversion. Not for some Joe to save a few quid on a private car to be honest.
The black cab manufacture has an electric accessible vehicle.
