Did the receivers issue you with a late payment fine last week?
Can't find ATM options anywhere. It's not coming up.
No fine but they did want last week's money as well😂
How long does it take to transfer funds from an AIB account? I thought it was meant to be instant. How do I set up instant transfers?
It is instant for me all the time provided I use Google Pay to make the transfer. I have found any other method either doesn't work at all or it takes time if it does work.
Are you transferring using your card details or your account details?
Via debit card it is instant. Via bank transfer (sepa) can take from a few hours during the week (daytime) to a few days (i.e. weekends)
Don't rely how long it usually takes with how long the banks are allowed to take. An intermediary SEPA payment must be completed within 24 hours for a bank to meet it's requirements, most often it will complete in way shorter time, but if a bank needs to take down a system etc... they it can take longer. If you need to make a payment by a specific time then do it early, because otherwise you could incur late fees if it is not executed when you expected and you won't have any come back.
That was the issue in the end. I used my account details instead of my card details. I changed to card details and it transferred straight away.
Any fees on that kind if transfer?
No, bank transfer and debit card topup fees are free. As are credit card topups.
Some other territories charge a % for credit cards but not IE currently.
Other plan fees:
My mistake I thought he was sending from revolut to another card. I tried an instant transfer recently to a non revolut virtual card and got charged a 0.7% fee. Was interested to see if there was an easy way to avoid that fee.
Was that to an Irish card or another international one? They charge 1% fee on currency exchange on weekends.
Was directly to a spectrocoin virtual card number. Not sure what country that would be.
Have to pay a gardener for my parents. Small amount but there may be more work.
He has asked for Revolut or cash.
I don't have Revolut - my account is with AIB. Is it a case of setting him up as a payee and is it treated like just another domestic transfer (i.e. no fees if sent standard value)?
Correct ask him to share his Iban and bic with you and it is just like a regular bank transfer.
Pay him as requested. If you read back through thread you find that it may not be simple.
The only difficulties I've seen in the thread have been about difficulties paying to the AIB Visa account. Have you noted other difficulties?
Same as if he were BOI. People aren’t quite used to getting paid into their revolut like that, I’d say the cash would be your best bet.
A slightly simpler way for you might be if he creates and sends you a payment link. It should avoid the AIB security going crazy when it sees a Revolut IBAN
If he goes into Transfers and hits New there's an option to create a payment link to request money
He then sends you the link, you open it and it'll allow you to input your AIB card details and it'll charge your card
I've done this once before when a direct transfer was misbehaving, it's a little tricky but if the guy is beside you then you can just step through it
Bit late to be telling us, in fairness. Strange language to be using “standing orders”, different to the terminology used within the app.
Standing Orders is the proper banking term for scheduled repeating payments.
This is a communication to customers, not a banking industry document. They should use consistent terminology in their communication to customers as they use in the app. How am I supposed to know that this communication about standing orders refers to my scheduled transfers?
Maybe so but they don't call or refer to them as such in their own app and help guides. The point being made from my reading of his comment was the lack of consistency in the communication.
They are really trying to sell their credit card. Getting lots of reminders.
It absolutely grinds my gears the way revolut avoid using the term. They’re not reinventing the wheel!
Yeah I'm trying to apply after having my salary paid direct to my Revolut account for a few months and now it's saying I can only link my AIB, BOI or PTSB account?
It never used to say that?
It's just the generic term we use, but we actually sell products. Just like you can't buy "A Car", you have to by a brand, the same with banks, you buy a service which might be or include standing orders and how they name the product is up to them.
I'm still on the waitlist 😕
Same, i've been on the waitlist since day 1, but yet other people i know who never applied, and don't even have premium or metal, can apply right now.
So much for looking after customers.
