I am wondering if they can get it from Odessa to a port in Romania, then Romania and Bulgaria could use their territorial waters to get the ships in and out.
To me it pretty much looks like every month something new is announced, a new step change as you call it.
Sure, but one vessel is the equivalent of a couple thousand trucks. While I'm sure they will move what they can out of Romanian ports, the capacity to replace the vessel shipments with overland transport just isn't there.
Indeed. They move the grain from all over Ukraine to the hub, which is Odessa. Pure speculation, but perhaps they have to consider the painful option of moving that hub further south into Romania, but I don't know if there's a rail-link.
They'll move a lot by train internally, but they have a different rail gauge to Romania...
$1.3b is not an absolutely whopping package.
To attack you need 3x that of the enemy. There's no evidence that Ukraine are getting the step change in firepower required. So yes, America are pumping the brakes on the counter offensive. The lack of movement of the front lines and the statements from the Ukrainians themselves is evidence of this.
Your claim that Ukraine are getting a metric shitton of cluster munitions has no evidence.
How exactly are they pumping the brakes on the counter-offensive? Because what you describe there is not a brake, its more of the same
Either the Americans are pumping the brakes on aid or they're supplying a typical aid package? Which is it? These are your words.
I'm not even reading the rest of that dribbly sh*té.
Ukraine are still having to conduct their offensive with a shortage of ammunition.
They're not supplying enough to make the counter offensive a success. It's quite simple.
No, try again. And read your own words carefully this time.
You said: "The Americans are pumping the brakes on aid"
Then when it was shown that they're still supplying regular aid.
You said: "Thats just a typical package no extra capability step up"
Whether Ukraine have enough for their counter-offensive or they're getting extra capability step up is not relevant to what you said. Either the Americans are pumping the brakes(stopping or significantly slowing down the aid) or they're supplying typical aid packages. Both are your words and both cannot be true simultaneously.
Will ye stop arguing?
The US has done more than anyone else, possible exception being the Brits, who appear to break deadlocks, but not send huge absolute amounts.
Not enough, but it never is
Go argue semantics with yourself because I don't care.
The success of the counter offensive is hugely reliant on America and based on what we're seeing, they are putting that in jeopardy.
If by the start of the mud season Ukraine achieves a major strategic goal I will put my hands up and admit I was completely wrong to express my fears.
Well, what can be said if they cannot see the link between Russia and China, and factor that into their critical thinking? ( if they have that) But I'm pretty sure that the military are well aware of the connection, and its factored into their thinking,
Here's something to think about for American aid to Ukraine, the budget approved by the government is 48bn and they have already spent close to 38bn ,so expect the deliveries or annoucements to be less compared to the 3- 10bn annoucements previously and the Biden administration hasnt asked for any extension on that budget,
Putin's been telling fibs again. Who'd have thought it eh........
So Putin will have to make good the shortfall...and no prizes for guessing where he will attempt to steal it from.
Turkey putting its chips down?
And their economic and financial world is imploding, They might still be doing a lot of bombing etc. but the whole edifice is rotting from the inside out, If ( and its big IF) there was a free press in Russia, Russians in their millions would march on the Kremlin and tear the occupants apart. At this minute, I'm talking to a Russian friend, an the conversation makes for grim listening to.
Lol yeah. Not only was he contradicted by the news but he contradicted his own words in the next post. But no no "semantics". 🙄
I don't even mind posters who have a less than optimistic outlook on the ukrainian war efforts, if that even is what they're at(I think at least a few of them would love to see ukraine lose if it means their egos are vindicated on an internet forum). But often these posts are seamlessly intertwined with their own facts taken from an alternative reality. Like America spinning down support somehow?!
But they're the first in line to hop on any positive news demanding sources or rubbishing same when given. Good enough for thee but not for me.
Look like Ukraine has started using the cluster munitions on Russian forces.
KYIV, Ukraine — Ukraine has begun firing U.S.-provided cluster munitions against Russian forces in southeastern Ukraine in a push to break up well-fortified Russian positions that have slowed Ukraine’s summer offensive, according to Ukrainian officials familiar with the matter.
I'd say they would be pretty effective with the swedish archer system (if they have been delivered yet)
It does look like Ukraine have paused their summer offensive but to me it's a combination of having to take things slower considering they're attacking a minefield and secondly the fact that Russia is still attacking them which forces you into defensive mode.
I think the fact Putin still wants to attack is good for Ukraine as Russia will suffer a higher ratio of losses. But it's depressing because unless some kind of a break through happens in the next 2-3 months were going to be looking at similar front lines until at least year 3 of this war. A sobering thought.
This is an interesting development if true. From what I've understood the Bayraktars absolutely carved up Russias initial invasion force in the North. But had since become obsolete with russian jamming equipment taking hold and cheap MANPADs knocking them down.
Have they since worked around this issue or something? I guess beggars can't be choosers and all that.
No mention of it anywhere else,
Can't imagine they pose much of a threat but LOL.
By the looks of things they are both suffering heavy losses, and nothing having the tools they need to get the job done hasn't helped, cluster munitions will only get them so far they still have to cross open ground, minefields while under attack from 24/7 artillery despite the various claims on here that the Russians have run out of ammunition and artillery guns and tanks month's ago and yet they are holding ground not losing it ,good news seems it be one unit moved 1000 metres over a few days, while the majority of forces moved nowhere in a weeks ,or we blew up a tank today,
We're heading Rapidly towards winter again which means everything will stay as it is , everyone else seems to be preparing for several more years of this
Of course they do ,why do you think the international community has refused to get involved, they can do a lot of damage to civilian shipping in the area from they have already shown earlier on in the war they will attack civilian ships
You think Ukraine pose a massive threat to civilian (or civilian marked) ships heading to Russian ports? I can't really see them acting on this mimicked threat.
Can western countries including this one help more? Undoubtedly!
Amusing that after all the waffle you admit that the brakes are on.
Two can play at this game it seems
