Unfortunately I am going to have to agree with you. The only think to stop the last bit if the DG actually goes ahead with asking all staff but then again how do we know they will ever follow through.
As Dunphy is not part of the NKM stable, he can probe deeply without been compromised. He also has the best guests to explain the latest goings on.
Liewise, I wasn't the biggest Sheahan fan before this, but both him and Dunphy have been excellent on this.
I am not the biggest fan of Fionnán Sheahan but when he does excellent work like he does here I am a fan.

Now that most TDs are on their holidays and inquiries are under way. The heat will start to ease off and most of what was revealed three weeks ago will be forgotten by the Irish public.
RT has taken the big hit regarding been put through the mill by both committees and with the new DG stating that if RT returns the 150 grand he's is open to negotiating a new and revised contract. So the ball is in RT's court.
RTE deputy DG is saying it's plausible that RT and NK knew the money was from Renault. He is only saying this as it takes the heat of RTE and very probable claims that RTE paid the money.
I do agree with you that RT should never be allowed inside RTE again and if he does go legal the real talent inside RTE won't want to work with him again.
Nice one! All that has to happen now is they send someone out to see if you no longer have a TV and then they can give you a refund. Only thing is you don't get advance warning of the visit.
I know it wasn't from Renault, Tubridy and Kelly knew it wasn't from Renault and rte obviously knew but Tubridy and Kelly claimed they didn't know and Rte deputy DG strangely agreed that this was plausible. That severely strengthens Tubridys hand imo.

So RTE state they reduce their spend on Tubridy by 15%. They are looking for additional government funding.
They have an opportunity to generate revenue from Renault but instead channel this money which exactly makes up for the reduction notionally plied to Tubridy. The chap must thinK we are soft?
Him or this Kelly chap should not be considered as vendors again for RTE full stop and all this execute redundancy stuff recouped end of story.

Ive been going on about the FF/RTE insidious nature from the start of this thread.
100% agree with you. Its one big club and you aint in it but by fook do you fund it.
What I think you have summarised is the symbiotic relationship between FF and RTE. It is true they say they relied on Tubridy for advertising revenue, but it was the institution which made him a “star” and pumped him up. Was it it Tubridy who was the star or was it RTE that gave him the exposure to become this star?
RTE airs the angelus, the news in this country, political history docs on things like the rising, the famine, the lockout etc. and they run Irish language programmes via TG4. This is the FF manifesto summed up in one short sentence. They are the ones choosing the programming and creating the content. And it’s all made to make us believe, they are the highest good and most integral part of this country. It’s a propaganda machine for the republican nationalists. It’s aimed at conservative Catholics and it’s a paean to FF.
So the question remains, does Tubridy have talent or is he a product of the machine, the lesser of all other “evils” and talentless stooge input because RTE couldn’t find anyone else. I believe it’s the latter. He hasn’t a charismatic bone in his body. He pines on about conscience and all the time backs himself as worth all this money. It’s utter hypocricy in the extreme.

Renault would not be paying for non existent events but you can bet your bottom dollar RTE would.
It works with franked stamps too. I send a lot of SAE - stamped addressed envelopes. This is how NK got his seed money together as a child of 4.

And why would Renault be paying Tubridy for public events that they weren't having?
RT and NK said if they get confirmation that appearances aren't going ahead they have no issue paying the money back. But they still invoiced and accepted the money knowing the events were neither planned nor likely to happen.
