Commodity coal price is still dropping. It's now 125 per tonne compared to about €400 this time last year. That's a difference of
€275. At this price it should indicate a tonne delivered price of somewhere between 500 and 550
(if we subtract 275 from 750 you get 475 but I don't really expect the full price drop to come through. Issue now
is when is the sweet spot to order. At moment Easyglow (just one example) are 590 a tonne so i think they will come down
from there but I don't see it coming down sub 500. I'll hold off for now and see how we go. If commodity prices start increasing
dramatically I will buy but otherwise I'd say wait.
Prices appear to be falling already. A quick google there and I see my local Co-op is doing 40KG smokless bags for €34. These were selling for circa €40 3 months ago.
I hope you were only googling! I found our local Co-op about the most expensive place to buy coal around and thats even when they have special offers.
I haven't bought coal locally in about five years or eight maybe. The Co-op would have reasonable small quantity deals from time to time ut for the most part would be dearer than fuel merchants.

I see prices have dropped up the north. Has anyone ever ordered from The Dandy's? What are people's experience's with them?
Where are you seeing the drop in prices? Not seeing any major discounts on the stuff I normally buy. If you look at the price of coal per tonne the price is still dropping. Quite a large volume of trades happened at the lower price of ~$130/tonne if you look at Newcastle Coal futures and the price is expected to drop somewhat further in the next few months.
What this means is that companies sitting on a lot of expensive coal are soon going to be out competed by those not hoarding who are able to fill their stores with cheaper coal. With the smokeless varieties obviously facing higher manufacturing costs we probably wont ever see pre-war prices but you can expect the price of coal at the shop to drop further given the current economic situation especially with China's economy being slower to ramp up post-covid. Barring the obvious unforeseen things like a nuclear catastrophe or something you're probably better holding out a month or two if you can.
That being said if having a tonne of coal in the bunker makes you happier than waiting a month or two to save a euro or so per bag then fire ahead.
Considering Dandy's myself only bought weedkiller off them before but they seem easy enough to deal with.
I have bought Surelite from them for the last two years and found it very good. Using an inlet boiler stove. It burns to ash completely, I'm just waiting to see if the price drops currently 570 plus delivery which would be 65 euros for me. So 25.40 for40 kgs

dandy are grand to deal with, if you think the price is good and want to secure it at that price go for it, peoples opinions on wether it is a good or bad time to buy can vary. Coal merchants are like a cartel, if one sets a price rise they will all follow suit when demand comes in again, wholesale prices could tae a while to reach the customer as we are seeing from the price of electric and gas over on the other thread.
If i needed fuel and like the price i would jump on it myself, i have loads from before the price rise thankfully

if you have the money and are happy with the price then crack on, the market is very unpredictable
Best price I see online is 500 plus courier for the smokeless round coal a tonne. Works out at around 22 euro per 40kg.
I doubt this will be beaten this year.

if nobody here can help you the just give them a call and say that is what you've been burning what would they recommend, they gave my brother in law great advice and told him a certain product would not be good for his system but he ignored them and now has a ton of crap he has to mix
I am in the same situation. Eco stove is the best I have ever used. Personally I would pay the extra.

Ya 540 pounds so 623 euro on the ton while coal warehouse for stove coal is 500 euro with 20-40 shipping thinking all comes down how good the coal is might stick with the Golden glow eco stove as I know it's good for my small stove
