Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

What's wrong with people having multiple sources of income? Serious question. I see nothing wrong with her promoting stuff and making a living from it. As long as she pays whatever tax she is required to pay, then more power to her.
No issue with what she makes on the side from private sources. Fairly irked though that she got the 2fm gig out of knowing someone and we are footing her salary from the license fee. The vast majority of people think 2FM should be done away with. It's not become culchie central with the two Johnnies and their awful attempt and being the lads.
Yeah I don't think there's any issue with any presenter or whoever making money from sponsorship deals or ads provided a) there's no conflict of interest with their work, b) they don't use any RTE resources to do it or film things on RTE premises, and c) RTE don't agree to underwrite their deals or pay them if the deal stops, or pay for events for the sponsor.
Want to post an ad on Instagram, away ye go. Want RTE to fund and organise special events for your sponsor, f*ck the f*ck off.
To pay Tubs 150,000 - With agency fees + marginal event costs + RTE own staff/equipment costs as indicated today, it probably cost €350-400k.
Tubridy isn't stuck for money. He could go on the dole.
I think you’ll find her familial connections helped her along the way too.
When Garrihy first started appearing on radio we were told she had a massive following on social media. That following was subsequently found to be “inaccurate”, including a large number of fake and paid for followers. Of course nothing was done when this was discovered.
I haven't listened to in ages from them two in the evening and Donnacha O'Callaghan in the morning it was to hard a listen.
Someone should be in jail for signing off on Toy Show The Musical, RTE have no track record in running musicals nor should a State broadcaster be involved in such high risk projects it has zero experience in.
I don't believe the €2.2 million is anywhere near accurate in to the actual loss incured to RTÉ as they have not included the adverts used which were almost every single ad period over the Christmas period. The adverts for the musical first began running over the summer of 2022. The amount of money lost for adverts that could have been sold to advertisers might be another €2.2 million or worse.
I can't be the only one who never heard/wasn't aware of The Toyshow Musical?
Good call by RT and NK offering themselves to the board rather than being requested to attend.
What came 1st, publication of DF's letter assuring RT of his wages or RT/NK saying they were willing to attend?
Oh christ that thing she had on the RTE Player was woeful beyond belief. The push she was given with it was very odd.
There are many highly professional, forensic and principled auditors in Revenue.. Public money pays a chunk for RTE so non biased public servants could be appointed to audit it. Must be on a taxation principle I suppose given Revenue's remit, but that would be fine if selected under the Revenue criteria or randomly as they can do AFAIW. Or they could audit the current auditors, that would be a hoot. I'm not sure of the rules regarding the results under GDPR and privacy etc., that could be a bogey, but it's largely OUR money anyway.
I agree with others and have often thought (and said) it, RTE should have two parts, a public service remit, and if they want to, a commercial arm. I see no issue with that. Public money is being thrown around at many things in this country, like snuff at a wake as the old man used to say.
They promoted the living hell out of it on television and radio for what seemed like months.
Still no evidence, or anyone even hinting, that either NK or Ryan "Haunted Children" Tubridy have even remotely broken the law though. Completely opposite to the RTE Board and Execs.
All eyes today on Breda O'Keeffe who was CFO for the entire period. G'wan Breda and give DF a good kicking in front of us all on Oireachtas TV ;-)
(Of course we'll keep half an eye on the ever-radiant Moya!)
I checked and the solicitor letter from RT/NK is dated today, 5th July
There's been many calls for them to attend.
And if Renault hadn't of pulled out we never would have discovered this. They never foresaw the effects of covid and that a company would just pull out of a sponsorship with the LLS because of real life consequences like production and sales of cars seriously curtailed. Real life issues associated with covid lockdowns never entered the minds of the RTE talent. The biggest proponent of covid lockdowns Ryan Tubridy with his salary guaranteed ended up being caught out by covid almost 2 years later
Tubridy’s silly kids books were hawked using rte
Ah righto.
It's probably fair to say that I've tuned in RTE more in the last 2 weeks than I had the previous 5 years.
If you don't watch RTÉ radio or television you wouldn't have heard of it, they spent zero advertising on any other tv or radio station.
Nor buses etc. Or at least that I noticed. I genuinely thought it was something that didn't get off the ground and into production when I first heard mention of it a few days ago.
Yep. Retire for life. He’d have quite a tidy sum.
I’m ready
😂
If it was Saturday I'd have a few cans during it 😁
Just pay no heed of the latte glass 😂
Are they chocolate match sticks and a chocolate bar on your cheese board 🤔
Is there any hope the Media Committee, or whatever they're called, will be a bit more organised in their questions this time? Most of them were just an embarrassment last week - rambling speechifying by a lot of them, and not a lot of sense or direction.
And hopefully they've either locked Mattie in a cupboard, or organised subtitles for him.
Uh huh.
They had no choice. Would have been compelled anyway.
Better to show up voluntarily.
Pretty sure there were some ads on buses.
Obvious from the get-go to everyone outside the RTE bubble that the whole thing was guaranteed to be a disaster, some ego(s) were way out of control and nobody in management shouted "stop".
Well that is an issue because by the looks of it millions got channelled into these accounts to hide. So what exactly was the auditors up to in the years before they never asked questions? how many PO etc got paid under "consultancy" via this account etc
