Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

Off the books and the presenters with it, 2FM is essentially a vanity project for them at this stage.
So its only a brand, hardly going to achieve that much interest given is low listenership. But I suppose at least it would be off the RTE books.
No, you're wrong, it was her god given talent! Tongue firmly in cheek.
2fm doesn’t owe the licence nor the equipment.
I agree. The 'old boys network', coming from the 'right' background, operates in most countries. It isn't a fantasy or conspiracy theory, its just a fact. But at least in the UK and the States theres still enough room to have a meritocracy of sorts so that new diverse people can get a foothold. Unfortunately for Ireland the pond is too small and opportunites for outsidersare few, although it does sometimes happen. Having attended a private school gives the job applicant an advantage, so they're taken on by others who have also attended the same schools. Unfortunately this results in stagnation and dullness, as RTE radio and tv, stuffed to the gills with such people, exemplifies. There is no fresh air because you've got the same mindset throughout.
Hence the brain drain.
Perhaps the best thing that ever happened to that DJ was not getting in to RTE, because he could have ended up like Dave (yawn yawn) Fanning, who, for me is the biggest bore on the planet. I could never listen to him for more than 5 minutes without going into a coma brought on by sheer tedium. He talks so fast, yet tells you nothing - the content being blandly bland bland and yet more bland. If being a public bore on the airwaves was a criminal offence most of the 'talent' on RTE would be doing lengthy terms behind bars.
I've seen a lot of talk of selling 2fm, what would you be buying? The brand, the 90-92fm license, the equipment. I'd say the license is the most valuable part.
Had this Tubridy scandal not come to light, Lottie Ryan would not be in trouble now with RTE management.
Will she be suspended?
Shows like that should be funded by the revenue they generate. Not by forced collection of licence fees.
And for adds, they can go on the commercial side, a national broadcaster funded by tax payers should be add free.
For pensioners, why should I pay for their TV? Why should other pensioners who don’t watch RTE pay for those that do?
Your last paragraph is just nonsense. People would not be left with no TV. They’d just have to pay for the things they want. But won’t have to pay for anything they don’t. It’s simple.
Spoiled rotten and her surname got her the job in RTE.
Very juvenile she comes across
I had no idea Lottie Ryan was 37 years old. She acts and sounds like she's 21.
Expires in 1 year in Ireland I think now.
Gerry Ryan was another who refused to take a pay cut back during the crash.
His daughter treating RTE as some playschool.
The BBC did it, including digging up the dogs buried in the Bluepeter Garden.
I remember it well!
They appeared on the LLS looking suitably tired and bedraggled, the whole works. 😁
Galway tent too common for the RTE big wigs , private box in the aviva or RDS, or a jolly to the rugby World Cup in Japan is more their style. They would never be seen dead hob knobing with mucky boot developers in the Galway tent. This is a very D4 scandal and light is getting shown into areas of the Irish establishment never exposed before
In fairness to Ivan Yates he does not shy away from that. Also Ivan Yates was up to paying what he owed as per his loans but the bank wanted it up front nothing else. He went to Wales as at the time to declare bankruptcy in Ireland as was going to happen anyway took 12 years now down to 3 (please correct) and Wales was 1 or 2.
Yes he was a sleazy man but on that I think the banks were going for a big name who's power had diminished as a look we are taking on the big ones.
My favourite Gerry Ryan story has to be Lambo! Shame it was made up.
Bit more complex than that. Studios need to be built.
They might make a bit out of it,but they get through three hundred and something odd million every year anyway. Mad to move IMO.
…..
Why isn't it Fair City and Celebrity Bainisteoir? People in Ireland pay TV license and watch those programs. You have Ear to the Ground etc that loads of people watch and serve a purpose
Why not put ad's on RTE? companies pay for the ad's, get to sell their product which creates jobs and leave less of a bill for the tax payer.
Why should pensioners who have spent their life paying taxes have to subscribe to watch tv now?
I don't think the "stars" in RTE should be on anything close to what they are, as I have posted since the start of this thread. But sorry what you posted above is complete rubbish and would end up with tax payers getting hit more than ever and lots of the population left with no tv to watch at all.
It would be interesting to see a comparison between Virgin media presenters (news/chat shows) and rte,
There needs to be public service broadcasting that is not limited by commercial constraints. I think RTE should sell RTE 2 and 2FM, RTE 1 should be Cultural and regional broadcasting. RTE should not be chasing ratings, they should be focusing on producing culturally, historically and politically valuable content that would not be made under a commercial model.
Thats easier said than done, but if you look at reeling in the years, the clips on that show are the kinds of things that RTE should be focusing on. Political, Cultural, Sporting, Heritage, documenting events, debating current affairs, having political conversations etc
The show 'Hands'
was of huge cultural value
So is Nationwide (even if I never watch it)
There should be music shows that showcase unsigned bands every week, that give exposure to live venues across Ireland
There should be shows that record amateur dramatic performances and musical societies, that record and promote the work of volunteers and charities
They don't need to have big budgets and pay big star presenters. The content should be the star, not the person introducing it
sponsoring a show on RTE (this was pre-Covid), it was nigh on impossible to get anyone in there to commit to a meeting after 2pm. And they would openly say to you on phone/zoom calls etc. that they couldn't commit to that as they had to collect the kids etc
When Emma o Kelly was talking about the NUJ meeting and they were all crying on the zoom calls, that means alot of them are not even on site working. Maybe zoom could come up with technology to allow RTE staffers to protest from home Maybe come up with a new "protest " function
I’ll hear not a bad word about smut-talking Gerry!!
god given gifts like her dad!
-------
Don't mention that gifts include being ace at hoovering up gak....don't...
Why hundreds of millions to move machinery to cheaper sites?
He’d fooking love that
getting his very own “where were you when” moment in history.
I think it'll be a record for Oireachtas TV but maybe not Toy Show ratings levels yet :)
I remember being a random country pub and that was their background \ wallpaper channel during the day.
They're not moving fro Montrose. The move would cost hundreds of millions anyway.
