I don't lie to my colleagues but I do withhold information. As it's my expirience people get very bitter and upset when they hear people are on higher wages in similar roles because some people are under some strange illusion everyone should be paid the same.

RT is at fault for misrepresenting that he had taken a 15% pay cut (in solidarity with the rest of RTE) which at the most reasonable interpretation is lying by omission. Neither he nor NK might have done anything illegal but it was a devious, hidden way of making sure Ryan kept his income.
And as Ryan trades on his "man of the people", calling it how he sees it with a straight bat, showing empathy and morality with the common man etc etc he's cooked his goose and is shown up as feckless and self-serving. But he hasn't done anything illegal.
But the contract was to be paid regardless if service was provided.

Tubridy and NK asking for a top up is not a major issue. They’re always going to ask. It’s a bit dick-ish against a backdrop of solidarity and pay cuts, but NKs job is to get the best deal possible for his client.
RTE made a mess, they should never have underwritten the Renault deal. This is the root of all the problems.
If it was a bank? No. If it was an orphanage? Yes.
RTE is publicly funded, and Tubridy was the highest paid presenter, and everyone was getting a 15% paycut, even those getting paid far, far less. Yes, in this instance its fair to consider him to be greedy for looking for his extra bit on the side.
If he's the highest paid earner is not relevant.

Publicly claiming that he took took a paycut like everyone else without disclosing how he's being alternately compensated most, if not all of it. No other big presenter doing the same thing because they understand why the paycuts were required and knowing they get paid more than enough anyway.
"Fault" "Wrong" etc are all subjective. Nobody is claiming there was anything illegal in his actions.

What was clear today, is that Tubridy was tipped off. If he was so innocent why the sudden and swift departure before this came out. He is up to his neck in it and that's why he ran.
