Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

Because the media and social media are meanies
You are Dee Forbes though
They should simply let some €35k a year Staffer and a recent Youth Reach recruit from SVDP man the message drop-board on his shows until he gets enough of it.
As a Radio Forum watcher for about 15 years here I'm not surprised by the posters defending him or down playing it. Ye know who you are. It's pathetic.
Good work Buttersuki.
Picking on the poor man when he's struggling to survive on half a mil a year between declared and undeclared earnings. 😔
Am I??!?
What a plot twist that would be
The government is suspending its review of future funding until this is all sorted.
I suppose there's even less to see now?
Intriguing update in the IT after Minister Martin's meeting today with RTE Chair. Martin "could not say who signed off on the hidden payments and she had not been told by RTÉ chairwoman Siún Ní Raghallaigh why outgoing director general Dee Forbes had been suspended on Wednesday."
Beginning to look like we might get to see the girls going at it in public! Dare we dream of a cage fight between Dee "Hidden Payments" Forbes and Moya "No Audit Committee Required" Doherty :-)
Why though? According to some on here nothing untoward has happened.
intriguing.
Best way to solve this issue is to just get rid of anyone who's earnings were understated and who didn't bother to correct the media when their earnings were reported also from now on no more contract workers on RTE. If you present a show on a regular basis i.e weekly or daily you are an employee and that is it, you don't like that then get a job somewhere else.
RTE are funded by the taxpayer therefore they have to have higher standards of behavior than other media in this country.
Have our government any power? The arrogance of the RTE chair to not tell the Minster why the Director General of RTE was suspended. Just like when Dee Forbes declined to attend a public accounts committee hearing.
Who wears the trousers, it seems to be RTE.
RTE have lost all credibility in terms of looking for a cent more from the public.
It is riddled with featherbedding, nepotism and cronyism.
A worker is normally an employee if they:
a) are directed by someone on how, when and where to work
b) have set working hours
c) have no personal financial risk relating to the work
d) receive a fixed wage
e) supply labour only
f) cannot subcontract the work
g) are covered under the employer’s insurance
h) work for only one person or business.
Seems to me that Tubridy, Duffy and the rest tick boxes a, b, c, possibly d, definitely e and f and probably h. No idea about g.
Oh what did they announce in their findings?
Don't forget, there was also a 80k admin/management charge on the Barter Account, and who knows what else. No word from RTE on who got that money!
NK more likely
An agents commission would normally be in region of 10% of clients earnings. How the feck are NKM earning 53%.
That stinks of another hidden payment to Tubridy.
A timely reminder that a TV license inspector has zero authority to enter your home or compel you to engage with them in anyway, no matter what they may tell you.
They have the same power as cold calling salesmen.
Treat them as such and wordlessly close the door in their faces.
If Tubs does go back to his radio show, the atmosphere between him and the rest of the staff will be horrible I'd imagine.
That story got the same treatment as it was later discovered that the story was AI generated as was the photo of the so called author of the piece. The paper of record was caught out fair and square when this story was published. This leads us to wonder what other pieces published by the Irish Times was fake or very economical with the truth.
Excellent advice...
This is not a new article, but I remember the issue back in the day. The Gov and Revenue were big on cracking down on Bogus Self Employment.
Hmmmm.
Government to clampdown on bogus self-employment | Peninsula Ireland (peninsulagrouplimited.com)
If they can see your TV from the window beside your front door does it make any difference?
They could see a Hollywood studio inside your home, they still don't have any power or authority. They may try to convince you they have because, like their employers, they often tell lies to gain an advantage.
As long as they don't have a name they can't do anything to you beyond the harassment, intimidation and deception that they traffic in. Never give them a name.
I never have and encourage others not to do so because I believe it morally wrong to fund a corrupt enterprise.
I often thought clampers must have to put up with awful grief for doing their jobs, but TV licence inspectors must be dreading going to work on Monday morning.
Don't they just post a letter to the house. Never heard of them actually calling into anyone or even knocking at the door
One swallow does not a summer make.
There isn’t a news outlet in the world with a 100% zero reporting error on its books. To suggest it’s routine practice is rather disingenuous.
Tubridy will actually be easier to get rid off because he's a contractor
If you already paid for the license for years and just decided to stop this year would it be easier for them to get you?
Any explanation from the good Minister why this is suddenly urgent when she apparently knew about this in March and, unless I'm mistaken, said & did nothing?
The usual 'sit on it and say nuthin' unless the plebs find out'?
