Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

Get a British telly.
And as he spoke of the homeless crisis that is gripping Ireland, he said he would accept RTE cost-cutting measures gracefully.
Tubs added: “I’ve taken a pay cut before. I took over 30% the last time and they’ve asked for more again which will bring it up to about 45% or (so) since I took the Late Late Show.
“When it comes to this sort of issue, that’s not something I’ve ever been found wanting in and that continues to be the case, yeah.”
He made this statement in 2019 talking about how he was happy to accept a proposed paycut of 15%. Instead of accepting the paycut he negotiated a separate deal to ensure he didn't have to take the 15% paycut.
He was lying.
The actual figures and the rest of his income is all properly accounted for in the accounts of his company he has confirmed. They seem like big numbers to most people but that's what he was paid, should someone take less when their worth is more?
Storm in a tea cup, the pearl clutching is nauseating
Ah to be fair now, there is a problem. Sounds like RTE have very shady accounting practices. At best the same errors were made for years without being picked up, at worst its dishonest record keeping that was knowingly covered up by some senior people for personal benefit.
Excuse me, can you explain why it is a "storm in a tea cup"
Should we just allow RTE employments take payments under the table so it isn't known to the tv license payer?
Five years of these mysterious extras and he doesn't know why he's getting them or where they are coming from ???
I pay my licence and have done for the 26th consecutive year. I am a believer in upholding the law, and I feel it gives me a legitimate right to comment how my money is being spent (not that I feel those who don't pay it don't have a right btw). I will give serious consideration to not paying this November however when it is due. Tolerating waste is one thing; tolerating fraud, dodgy deals, backhanders and payments to agents and "stars" who feign innocence AND deliberately misrepresent themselves on these things is an altogether matter.
I spent some time in France as a teen, I wish we had more of their "F_ _ _ no" attitude when it comes to things like this.
Still no sackings, no resignations, nothing of course.
Dee Forbes career is over now, her reputation is destroyed after this. Hopefully it will be the beginning of the end for NKM too.
The thread is far from dead, this one is going to run. Tom Lyons of The Currency on Brendan O'Connor this morning said he feels this will still be the major news topic next weekend as there's a lot more to come on this and a lot of questions yet to be answered. Lyons has no axe to grind with Tubridy btw, just stating things as he sees them. I wonder is he "mentally ill" too as by the standards of some posters on here if you crticize the Bad Toyman you are mentally ill apparently.
See you next Saturday if you're still lurking and attempting to deflect.
Nobody died.
Was thst going to be your next cliche from the bingo card?
The obvious attempts at downplaying is transparent.
Clutch your own pearls - seems to be your thing. I have none.
If it is all so nauseating for you, that is a very low threshold. Is clutching pearls an old wives remedy for that?
Check your bingo card.
Some good news for Tubs! The most right-on musical of all time Hamilton returns to Dublin in Novemeber next year as per the paper of record!
The bad news however is now that someone is on the naughty list they may have to pay for their own ticket......no more freebies for Little Lord Tubsleroy.
Oh now my behaviour is "creepy". You lot really need a new playbook.
If all else fails, resort to personal insults!
It’s not an insult. It’s an observation. Your disdain for Tubridy is far too clear here. You have next to no balance, context or even debate.
The story is a few days old without even a proper investigation and you’re posting like he should be hung.
I’m still baffled as to what crime he actually committed here; or even what he did “wrong” that has everyone faking outrage
It's not FAKE outrage. As a tax payer and a licence payer, I am genuinely OUTRAGED that a cosy cabal within RTE can decide to use public money to pay a man off the books to cover up for most of the reduction and that that man can then claim publicly to have taken a reduction annually and for a number of years, seeking and receiving credit for that and laughing at the little people of Ireland as he did so. And I'm not alone in that.
It's the second day in a row that it's on the front page of every newspaper in Ireland as the lead story. It's on every radio and tv programme. Politicians have slammed it and are demanding answers from those involved. RTE staff are furious. The unions are furious.
And you think I'm the only one outraged by this?
It's just above "won't someone please think of the children?"
Attack the post.
I actually don’t believe you at all. Sorry. You despise him. And that’s what’s driving your agenda here.
Once again, anyone criticizing Tubs or NKM is a creep, mentally ill, a psycho, a stalker, a loner, unemployed etc.
Classy.
You do realize that I, like you have been plenty critical of Tubrudy as regards his radio and tv gigs. I think he’s a useless presenter/broadcaster. I also think he’s a waffler as regards his book reading prowess. Bit of an odd ball; but here, the outage is contrived and fake.
You’re taking this way too personally
and btw, of course it’s not just you faking outrage. The whole story is being sensationalised and made out to be far far far more serious than it actually is.
Yeah the whole media and anyone who disagrees with YOU are just making it all up.
A nothing burger?
Yep
With respect, I've been called mentally ill and a creep in the past 2 days alone by posters on here. I didn't see you admonishing their posts when they played the man.
I have to take my dog to the vet now, I'll be back later.
Tubridy's second statement, the groveling apology that followed the dismissive initial statement suggests he thinks otherwise.
So have I. Be better than them.
Of course they’re “making” it up. That’s the job of media lately. To grossly exaggerate and over/egg and stir up interest in stories that are nothing.
And plenty people lap it up because they thrive on people in powerful and successful positions falling flat on their faces.
simple: scale 1-10 on scandal and seriousness: Garda in cahoots with crime gang is a 9/10. This story? A 1/10
Yes. We know. In today’s world people are so cautious of the outrage mob that contrition is way over-played.
Surely you’ve seen plenty my posts on radio and tv regarding Tubridy. I’ve seen plenty yours.
