How you can be so evil to bomb the evacuees of Kherson after you destroyed the damn in the first place
Russia is so **** evil and I hope some day they'll be something similar to a Nuremberg trial and this time don't let the fuckers off
This counter offensive is turning very bloody for the UAF, and let's not pretend it's not going to be. It's not the surprise offensive of last years lightning advance. Everyone knew this was coming and the Russians prepared accordingly.
In saying that I still believe the UAF has the motivation, training and and weapons needs to beat back the Russians. Once the defensive lines are overcome, and I believe they will be, Russian forces will have to withdraw further towards their own border. The cost will be very high for the UAF, but what choice, do they have? Fight and die, or just wait and die. They are fighting for their right to exist.
Battles will be won and lost for a while before we get the overall picture. Such is war.
Death by window is beyond ridiculous at this stage.
I am wondering if will enter the official statistics of leading cause of death in Russia.
You have that literally backwards but you know that anyway 🙄
Reports of a Ukrainian drone strike on an apartment block in the Russian city of Voronezh...110 miles inside the Russian border.

Unfortunately, that source is not credible:
Now just where have I read that sentiment regularly a few months back??? Who had that line?
As you say it's too early to make a call on anything. It's easy to become despondent since all we're getting is the Russian side of the story. Nothing to do but sit tight and hope for the best. I have faith in the Ukrainian high command though based on what they have already achieved.
Right, I presume you have the same view about this war, that the good and bad guys is just a matter of perspective?
Yeah, some armchair generals here just a couple of weeks back were predicting near instant collapse of Russian defences and a swift and total Ukrainian victory, including recapturing Crimea by late summer. That was never likely. We can only wish them well but it won't be easy
@royalcelt also:
Thanks for the replys but I know the reasons (you both have it spot on), I just ask that question when people make statements like the one I was replying to because it makes the person think about themself, (and I couldn't be bothered getting into internent arguments, which that topic always produces).
Serious times
It's an interesting question with some understandable reasons and some less than admirable reasons.
But it's a topic for another thread
That topic always makes me think of the line: "Hindsight is Foresight for a Gobshite".
Not directed at you.
Think I need a break from following these events unfolding daily. Too stressful. Hopefully there's a good outcome this month.
While the Russians were incompetent and complacent, I think a big decisive factor in the defense of Kyiv was the precise intelligence provided by America about the Russian military and their attack plans . It seems clear they have a spy or spies very well placed inside the Russian MOD. Also I suspect British and American special forces were providing assistance to Kyiv forces at the time too. The Russians won't want to admit that happened. When this war does finally end we migh hear some interesting stories about what just went on behind the scenes.
Some people still cannot get it into their heads that Russia is not the USSR or Warsaw pact which did have a big population.
On the world stage population wise Russia is actually now a minnow, with and aging, unhealthy, poorly educated, population and a disastrously low birth rate. Their army is now a conscript rag tag, combined with prison scrapings. Ukraines army is still a volunteer army.
so the Russians planned on blackmailing Ukraine by threatening to blow up the dam, but blew it up by mistake….they didn’t think it would be as bad as it is…
I saw a video from a Russia KA-52 gunship firing at an armored column. The missile took 20s to get to target so by my estimate they're firing from 10+km away. Unreal. Imagine driving around Tallaght and someone hovering over the city center spire is shooting missiles at you.
The Ukrainian column stood out like a sore thumb on thermal, they were bunched up in a line and barely moving. It was like a turkey shoot. Terrible stuff.
Ukraine's army is most certainly not a volunteer army ffs!
Apologies, I thought it was a reliable source.....post deleted
Oh but it is Lionel, up until a couple of months ago they were still rejecting volunteers.
You keep telling yourself that they've got conscription of all able bodied men 18-60 who have fewer than 3 children. They are literally picking people up off the street.
I respect the random choice of your name.
I guess those men who had to cross into Romania, Poland, etc., illegitimately over a year ago were doing so to avoid an urge to volunteer.
Ukraine has a draft. Many countries do, they have not used it because they have not needed to.
1917 The United Kingdom introduced conscription legisation in Ireland Lionel. Not 1 Irishman was conscripted into the British army during during 1917 or 1918, unless they happened to be living outside Ireland.
I do know you struggle with facts Lionel, hence your habitual retreat to "What about Isreal".
A friendly reminder on how the Kherson counteroffensive started and was reported on. When there's a media blackout on the Ukrainian side, people are left with only Russian videos and reports. How they can make a judgement or prediction based on Russian reports is beyond laughable at this stage.
That isn't true. They have drafted conscripts and i've personally spoken to Ukrainians here who had to avoid border checks to leave Ukraine. It is what it is but it certainly isn't volunteering when you're told you can't leave the country and face a draft.
