PGA TOUR, DP World Tour and PIF announce newly formed commercial entity to unify golf
You would want to be fairly naive.
What possible compensation could you give a man with already more money than God, to brush off a brutal humiliation?
Something tells me that the PGA roster will be wanting heads more than pounds of flesh.
After all, it's not just their loyalty that has been trashed here, but so much of their commercial future, their career trajectory and maybe any control over work-life balance.
This new monster is going to be nothing if not demanding of players to fill what may end up being quite a different looking global Tour, with a very high TV rights sticker price.
What other reason do you think he bent over was then? He could still have played in the tournaments and not been a mouthpiece , that interview was weak AF.

He clearly stated that Liv is not part of this deal. He said he has always and still does hate Liv.
He said that the PGA tour made a decision to become friends with pif rather than have them as an enemy. It's an understandable rationale.
I thought he spoke well but I don't think he gave his own personal views on it. He made it clear that he was speaking from a business perspective and not a personal one which leaves the door open for him to become a dissenter.
I think he'll take the views of his fellow members on board before deciding on which way he goes.
No matter it doesn't help me because I won't watch or support anything to do with pif. I'll be trying to find ways to watch other golf like the Sunshine tour.
I thought that was an excellent interview from McIlroy today. Honest as usual and made it clear what this is about. He put the good of golf ahead of himself. Well done Rory.

Amazing how much forgiveness a couple of hundred mill could buy, even for the wealthiest of unhappy souls.
If LIV throw around enough money, which no doubt they have promised to, the roster will soon forget about the heads, in fact they may come to love those same heads again, love reborn, blessed not with offspring, but dollar bills.

Impossible to see how he can credibly accept any future prize or appearance money from whatever professional golf tour emerges. Knowing that it'll be largely funded by Saudi Arabia and given what he's accused them of. And how can he reconcile the foolish things he ranted about his fellow professionals. And still looking for a pound of flesh.

So Rory hated LIV, but always loved the Sauidis and PIF? Comical. Him ans Padraig have really let themselves down in the last few days in my eyes, but I shouldn't expect anything less from professional athletes either.
Seems like he's now dutifully adhering to the Saudi script of saying its all about improving "the future of the game."
The game wasn't going anywhere, ever. It's as popular as ever if not more so at the grassroots levels.
It's about improving the money at the very top level. Let's be frank about that. As far as I am aware the money available in the professional game does not filter down to amateur ranks, or to improve access to golf for various different demographics, which really is what growing the game is about.
I tend to rarely feel sorry for multimillionaires but those that stuck with the PGA tour now look extremely foolish. Again, if RM had any sense he'd retire now and set up his own tour for the craic.
