Capture of the Russian position near Staromykhailivka. Group R.U.H., 59th Motorized Infantry Brigade
I'm guessing (and hoping) that the Fog of War will make any determinations impossible for the guts of at least a week. If we don't know, chances are the Russians know about as much...which is perfect for Ukraine's war effort. Keeping the Russians guessing is as valuable as a wall of Abrams tanks, they won't be able to plan, react or control the situation in a meaningful way.
You want them to panic, surrender...or just run home beyond the actual Russian border. I'd love to know what is actually happening now, and hoping that the news is positive. But for the sake of Ukraine maintaining the element of surprise, and keeping the Russians guessing...I can wait for the news.
Yup! Sneaky NATO and evil west, versus whiter than white impeccable Russian behaviour. The Kremlin have some pretty effective mind-control and history altering programs running flat out.
Ukraine are definitely counter attacking but I'll believe it's in full flow when we have footage of Bradley's and leopard's in action. I wonder do they want to make a breakthrough using their soviet crap and then push on using the Western weapons.
Yes, that's how they behave when abroad. Masters of all they survey. You can see it in the way they walk and talk, arrogance and contempt written all over them. I remember meeting them in Tartous and Homs, and that's the way they behaved especially with the officers, they treat everyone the same way they treat their own lower ranks. Like trash. Dedovschina is alive and well.
I remember listening to a podcaster discuss their theory of why Irish and English fans behaved so differently when abroad at football tournaments. The Irish fans typically go on a charm offensive with the locals trying to make friends and get everyone having a good time together. In contrast the English stake out some place, cover it in flags, start singing songs about how they won two world wars, behave aggressively and condescendingly to the locals and ultimately end up fighting people. He basically put it down to a colonial mindset. The English were out trying to annex a small part of this foreign land for the duration of their stay, make it their own and do that with violence while proclaiming their greatness.
I suspect the Russians have a bit of that colonial mindset as well when abroad.
Yeah a civil war in a nuclear armed nation isn't something i'd be "hoping" for tbh rogber.
Some people just want to lump all Russian's in the one boat. There is no point arguing with that level of ignorance in my opinion. All German's where not responsible for WW1 or 2, all Americans or Brits where not responsible for the million plus innocents killed in Iraq and Afghanistan and all Russian's are not responsible for the horrors being committed in Ukraine by Putin.
Things definitely seem to be heating up in the past 24 hours. The fact that the Ukrainians are releasing videos saying that they won't be saying anything at all is a pretty good indicator. That's exactly what happened prior to the Kherson offensive last year. I remember during that offensive the Ukrainians stayed quiet and the movement of the lines had to be inferred based purely on Russian reporting. With the Russians claiming they thwarted an attack in Donetsk, which the Ukrainians aren't commenting specifically on, that phase may have already begun.
I'm sure Ukraine will have bad losses at some stage and in some parts of the counter offensive.
But the fact that Russia claims Gerasimov was nearby (as if he was personally leading the show) makes me think this is either extremely exaggerated or else just completely false.
Yes, I thought that 15 years ago.
Let's hope so. The only way to end this thing once and for all is for the rotten Russian political system to collapse and that has to happen from within
Hmm hopefully not true, would be worrying if the weakest part of Russias defence was able to defend so easy.
Premise: Sneaky NATO tricked Russia into invading Ukraine and getting bogged down in a war of attrition because the Russophobic West wants to bleed Russia.
Solution: Fall into the trap, and keep sending more and more money and troops into Ukraine until Russia (and Ukraine) is ruined, while the West is relatively untarnised.
Counterpremise: Putin badly misjudged this invasion but refuses to acknowledge same because it would mean stepping down.
Disproving counterpremise: Anyone who says so goes to jail.
This is Russian logic

The Armed Forces of Ukraine took control of a part of the settlement of Berkhovka, where units of the RF Armed Forces had recently regrouped
This according to Prigozhin, I am guessing that he is telling the truth in this instance.
That is terrible. They're victims too.
Link?
Reports of challenger and leopard II panzer fists having great successes penetrating deep behind Russian lines. Armoured Fighting infantry vehicles mopping up behind
More Ukrainian probing, the density of which does seem to have stepped up in the last two days.
Large reports of UAF attacks East and South with Russia claiming to have destroyed the counter offensive.
Whatever is the truth, Russia usually lies, the offensive may have begun in earnest.
You seem to think Ukraine is going to steamroll to total victory once this counteroffensive gets going. I hope they do, but I think you're wrong. Which is why I don't see much point in making big claims before it even starts.
Time will tell
They're demonising each other.
Don't demonise Russian people.
That's how war crimes happen.
Yes, it was an attempt to buy time for Ukraine. But according to the answers the Russian's in the Medusa questionnaire / poll gave, the trend was that actual cause and effect of the whole story was by-passed in the Kremlin narrative, basically that this situation had evolved many years ago solely due to western Russophobia, and US hegemony etc etc. it came to a head with Ukraine. And therefore, Ukraine does not count, its just the cover the destruction of the Russian Federation by the US, NATO etc. And because of this ( not Ukraine) they are prepared to fight to the death ( that will be seen,,) for the Motherland, Even Putin, the cause of it all, does not get any blame worth talking about. it's all about the big bad west and the evil US. + of course, that den of iniquity, the UK.
Western support for Ukraine did exist prior to 2022 in the form of things like Operation Orbital from the British, the purpose of which being to fend off the kind of incursion Russia had been practicing since 2014. It stepped up quite exponentially in the wake of the 2022 invasion, however, but it was this prior training and support which allowed Ukraine to stand an initial chance. Russia cite this buildup as one of the reasons for its invasion, despite the fact that they had already been invading which necessitated the military buildup.
What they all fail to see ( or deliberately ignore) is that Russia itself was the trigger for all the western support. In Feb 2022, this support simply did not exist full stop. A Russian win was a foregone conclusion. Then the fight back began, and as Russian atrocities became known, support grew, until it is what it is today. But according to those Russians interviewed, this was all a pre arranged plot, engineered between NATO and the US. Straight from the Kremlin Factory of lies. Or else, no one wanted to publicly say anything negative about Putins war. and in the present Russian climate, I'd put a lot of faith in that explanation. I mean, not one of them ( that I read) even remotely or vaguely blamed Russia, ignoring completely the laws of cause and effect.
Geo-location of Ukrainian forces in Novodarivka.
Generally, they tend to form into group's, pretty much as we ( and other Country's do) But there's a stronger level of mistrust with them. Once you get friendly with a group or family, that it, you are accepted. But Russian Life conditions them to look after themselves first and foremost in a much stronger ( if that's the right word) way, than we would do here. They are used to being messed ( there's another word that describes it much more accurately beginning with the letter "F" ) around, especially by the state and its agency's. Its common amongst all of them in my experience, be they City or Rural. Their attitude when abroad is a different matter entirely. Arrogant and domineering just about sums it up, especially from the City Russians.
On a lighter note and another example of Russia being behind the times, that pouf hairstyle which saw its peak here in the mid to late 2000s, appears to be alive and well in Russia.
At this rate the Russian volunteers will be coming up behind the Russian army and cutting off them in Ukraine.
Meanwhile the Ukrainian version of Michael Bay brings you sssshhhh.
