Tina Turner has passed away at the age of 83.
A true legend
...
She was ike turner's wife, right?
Damn - such a great singer and entertainer - RIP
Yeah. He treated her like sh1t
Once upon a time he was, and that piece of scum made that woman suffer.
One of the great performers, a proper old school superstar up there with Elvis and Sinatra and Aretha Franklin. Lord knows there aren't many of them left.
RIP big T.
A monument to overcoming adversity and working incredibly hard. Really sad to hear about it, she'd been out of the public eye for awhile.
Rip Auntie Entity
Surprised to hear she was 83. RIP
Brilliant singer, incredibly soulful and powerful - her singing came from her feet it was so deep down. Had a great blues sensibility too - from near Memphis, the real deal. Her '80s look was a bit naff but in the '60s and '70s she was a real stunner. So stylish. That prick Ike battered her and she had to go on the run from him - she had nothing. Yet by the mid '80s she was a superstar. Can you imagine the drive and work ethic? Even after being so badly abused.
Amazing woman. R.I.P.
How has no one said she was 'Simply the Best' yet?
I wouldn’t have been a huge fan but I went on utube there to have a listen to River Deep Mountain High .
What a performer. Absolute powerful brilliance
"Well ain't we a pair" RIP Tina
Better than all the rest?
Simply the eternal rest
She was class. Nutbush City Limits shlaps
Loved her music. A true legend. Her songs always bring me back to my childhood. Great memories.
Yeah I'm not that into the music of her solo career - while recognising her brilliance as a singer - but RDMH, yes, just incredible. Also Nutbush City Limits - such brilliant rootsy blues. And her cover of The Beatles' Come Together is amazing. Again that bluesy quality.
And from much later, I love her Bond song.
Surprised she only appeared in one big movie role , she was excellent in Thunderdome
No way. So sad. Rest In Peace.
A True great and a Legend now.
Tina Turner was a bona fida music giant. Tremendous presence allied to a powerful soulful voice. River Deep Mountain High was an amazing record. Ike and Tina's version of Proud Mary is a tour de force. I love Nutbush City Limits. When she left Ike most people would not have come back as she literally ran away with only the clothes on her back. It was some achievement to reinvent herself for the 80s. Songs like Private Dancer, What's Love Got To Do With It, Simply The Best and We Don't Need Another Hero were monster hits in the 80s. Goldeneye in 1995 wasn't a bad Bond song.
Tina's life story was remarkable. She endured so much heartbreak and abuse and still kept going. A titan musically and as a human being. RIP
Genuinely saddened by this.
R.I.P Tina.😥
A true legend. I'm deeply saddened tonight.
A true survivor and fighter
RIP Tina
I had leg envy, she had some pins, as the song says she got legs
A lady and a legend, r.i.p.Tina.
This is my favourite song by her from her solo career. It's a great tune with a great singer. Tina was a fantastic singer in her field and it is sad to hear of her passing. RIP Tina Turner.
That's a quality tune all right. I really like Private Dancer also, and a duet she did with Bryan Adams called It's Only Love.
Love her version of I Can't Stand The Rain, and she recorded Whole Lotta Love, which was perfect for her voice. Such a great interpreter.
For me, my favourite Tina song was Proud Mary...
This was from 2009, so she was approx 70 years of age in this video. She was some performer. RIP Tina.
