As I said previously the airforce is still fecking dangerous, this is the first large scale use of bombers we've seen so far especially not 17 in one attack
Ammo dump?
It could be based on the 4th pic there. Looks like alot of secondary explosions when you zoom in.
Big blow if it was an ammo dump, will impact the long talked about offensive. Also means the russians are still getting good intel which doesn't bode well either.
Possibly more attacks coming from naval vessels,
The 'victory by Summer' thing was never a majority opinion. It's understandable how some of those people got carried away in the wake of successful Ukrainian counter-offensives which took place late last year, and obviously Ukraine would be keen to seize upon this sentiment as it keeps morale high, but the majority of forecasts have been that this could all grind on for some time, overall.
Personal opinion: If Ukraine can cut the zone of occupation into two by driving to the coast, I think the West will be happy to continue backing them, if Ukraine wants to keep fighting. Hopefully, in this case, Russia would become much more amenable to reasonable terms of negotiation.
There is no reasonable terms when it comes to Russia,
The only thing that would bring Russia to the table is Nato becoming a active partner in Ukraine and start striking Russian positions inside ukraine until the Russians start to withdraw to pre 2014 borders ,
You keep saying it but you have offered little or no alternative to what would be a good deal for Russia ,
And maybe not for a long time after it is over and done......Mullah Omar, the Taliban leader was dead for at least 2 years before it was officially announced, and Vlad has several impersonating look-alike's
In the case of the zone of occupation being split, I think the best terms Russia would get would be an offer of an internationally-recognised referendum on Crimea, UN peacekeepers in the Donbass and a promise of no offensive weapons installations to be placed in Ukraine by NATO. I had laid this out in more detail some time ago.
If Russia don't want to come to the table, that's on them, but if Putin finds himself prosecuting an obviously failing war or god forbid (from Russia's perspective, that is) being run out of Ukraine entirely, he's going to be in trouble domestically/politically, so there is calculation to be done on when to cut losses and try to claim some kind of victory.
Russia will drag this on for as long as it takes to manipulate another simpatico Republican into the US presidency to abandon Ukraine like Trump abandoned the Kurds
"I think the best terms Russia would get would be an offer of an internationally-recognised referendum on Crimea,"
A referendum in Crimea after almost ten years of occupation being internationally recognised would be like giving international support for genocide and I can't see anyone other than putin being in favour of such a move.
Putin already Said previously he won't allow peacekeepers in Ukraine,
Only Russian peace keepers,
The only way this end is either ukraine wipes the floor with the Russians in Ukraine and force them to withdraw or Nato bombs Russian forces until they withdraw from Ukraine
With Trump being the front runner, they could be waiting longer than they have to actually take advantage at this hypothetical point when the USA withdraws its support.
Can only be assumed to be a major reprisal by the Russians tonight for the attack in Crimea.
Or they are trying to disrupt the upcoming counter offensive which has yet to begin
Well, the Ukranian defence minister gave an interview early today saying it was nearly ready to go. Why they telegraph this like they do I can't understand.
Ukraine has hinted at various times that they would be willing to talk about the issue of Crimea. I'm not saying that they have explicitly stated they'd be open to what I'm suggesting, but you can appreciate that cards will be held close to the chest where stakes are this high and mistrust is the order of the day.
Unless it's his first day being defence minister or he lacks the most basic understanding of military information strategy, I'm going to hazard a guess that there's a bit of art to what he's saying.
Looks like its gonna be hell in Ukraine tonight, hopefully air defense does its job. Scared to read the news tomorrow
Sure it was claimed it already began,
Probably something got lost in translation again.
I think it's not going to happen in until everything is in place and the conditions are perfect,
There's been percision strikes in Mariupol and metiplol since late January
I guess we'll know more in the next few days.
What are the odds that the UA begins it offensive a day or so before the 8th May. Nice little surprise for the Russians
Any links yet supporting your claim about 'other' ( other than CS) types of gas grenades used by the Ukrainians?
Chemical compositions ....
As I said gas grenades, which there is multiples of,
Looking forward to some future compositions.....
Next week any good to you?
It's quite possible,
Can imagine fires or explosions on the 9th in Moscow,,,,,
I hope this is the case. But, they are hardly going to admit if the stuff they need for the new offensive just went boom.
Hopefully, it's old stuff.
If it isn't old Rockets ,it's possible storage facilities have been leaked or found through other means, especially with the discussion around ammunition shortages lately this could be a bit of a setback
There hasn't been many videos of it, so it's hard to know if it was just a massive explosion, indicating it could have been as reported, or if there was multiple explosions going on for a very long time. We've seen space rocket explosions before (violent but quick) and we've seen ammo dumps exploding before (secondary explosions go on throughout the night). So I'd say the truth will be known soon, there's no hiding the aftermath of an explosion like that.
Are we seeing the rumours of Ukrainian air defences running out come to fruition?
Very concerning if Ukraine can’t protect themselves from Russian air capabilities all of a sudden.
It's not all of a sudden they have been doing it since day one,
The problem is some people completely wrote off the Russians airforce,no pilots, crap training and very little ammunition,
And yet day in and day out there is strikes against ukraine from the Russian airforce wether it be bombs or missles the Russians airforce is still dangerous and can still cause serious problems
