Youd imagine that those who already believe that, or at least dont dispute it, have already been called up. Youd think as well that if someone really doesnt want to serve the Russians wouldnt want them to be conscripted, as they would cause problems.
My take on this is that its purpose is not to get more recruits, but to be able to discredit dissenters as draft dogers, and maybe to seize their assets
Leaked documents source???
Leaker of U.S. secret documents worked on military base, friend says - The Washington Post
Can't see that being too popular and might have even more looking for the exits/ going into hiding. They'll likely target the more rural parts and spread the call ups about, so not concentrated in any one district at a particular time. But anyone likely to be in the firing line with an ounce of sense will surely be looking at their options. Those who are brainwashed into dying for the greater cause of 'Russia who are fighting off NATO/US/EU for their very survival' will likely toe the line and turn up.
There will be no new wave of the military draft in Russia. Now any Russian citizen can be mobilised with a click of a mouse.
Each mobik now has 7 days to present himself or herself to be processed. If they do not, most of their citizenship rights are stripped away and they become an outlaw.
Yes, that maybe where I saw it. But while the damage was not total destruction (unfortunately) It was still a remarkable event, Despite security, they were able to pilot a drone on what was basically a guided tour( literally LOL ) of the airbase, and damage an aircraft! That did not improve Russian morality or confidence one little bit.
Yes, but there's changes afoot. There are now street protests and calls in Georgia for the present pro-Russian govt to step down, and fresh elections to be called. In Chechnya, ever since his "election" Kadyrov, like his father before him, is not a popular leader, quite the opposite. Since he came to power, he has been using a more draconian form of Islam to enforce his rule, just like the Taliban and the Iranian Ayatollah, Plus, many fighting age Chechen's are in hiding " In the Woods" in Chechnya. Whenever Putin goes, you can expect big changes in that part of the world.
Read that some young lad/ teenager is key suspect in what has been reported as the leak of intelligence docs from the US. That he is just one of over a million with access to such information. Given that USA were a bit doubtful of Ukrainian leaks, it all seems a bit odd. How could you grant access to sensitive information to so many people and not expect leakage? Is the whole story disinformation? I suppose we'll find out in a few months time.
100%, but why let such an obvious truth get in the way of speculating on what's clearly a Russian propaganda piece?
True. It flew towards it, and landed on its radome, damaging it. I posted a video of it here about 240k pages back.
Interesting interview with Sergei Guriev, former Kremlin economic advisor, who says sanctions are working
Coming from the "Leak" back in September a UK surveillance aircraft flying over the blacksea was tracked and intercepted by a Russian Su 27 which actually went step further than others interpretations by actively shooting at aircraft with a missle which failed to Lock and track , now blaming a miscommunication between the pilot and ground crew Operating the radar ,
Following this all RAF surveillance flights over the blacksea were accompanied by a pair of armed Typhoons
Considering this happened several months before the US reaper drone was taken down in the same are how close we came to Nato becoming actively involved in an Article 5 call ,and yet months later they purposely caused the US drone to crash with unsafe menuvers ..
Are they actually wanting a direct conflict with Nato ???
Don't remember that conversation or account,
But again the drone BT or Reaper are not attack drones they don't need to be fast the fly high and slow for surveillance, they weren't designed for high intensity warfare,
The Turkish drone only carry small payloads where a single reaper can kill 8 tanks at a time and it's still only a surveillance tool
I agree but we have already entered the war of attrition stage. Drones aren't going to have the impact that you might expect.
Russia is using Wagner mercenaries as 'cannon fodder' so they also aren't complaining about rapists and murderers being easily being picked off.
They are still used but are not as effective as people would have perceived in early '22. The Bayraktar is far too slow to make a big impact on this war, Ukraine has even found a way to somewhat stop Iranian drones without the mass need for Russian antiair defenses.
I remember you talking up the oppostion in Syria a good few years ago. Drones are easy to shoot down when they can't fly quick enough...
South Korea has reached an agreement to 'lend' the United States 500,000 155mm artillery shells, which could give Washington more flexibility to provide Ukraine with ammunition, a South Korean newspaper reported Wednesday, citing government sources. South Korea has decided to "borrow" ammunition instead of selling it, to minimize the possibility of South Korean shells being used in the conflict in Ukraine.
South Korea's Defense Ministry said the Allies had explored ways to support Ukraine, but declined to confirm the details.
The report came after classified U.S. military documents highlighted South Korea's difficulties in coping with pressure from Western allies to help provide military aid to Ukraine.
Inventive. How very Swiss of them.

Well one thing that we are learning is that inbetween cheap useless old tech and modern too expensive items, both sides have a use for moderately cheap fairly useful materiel and drones have served this purpose.
If a 10k drone has to be shot down with a 100k+ anfi aircraft missle, then its a good trade. Plus, you can use cheap drones tooverwhelm air defence and maybe the more expensive, more destructive weapons have a better chance to get through.
So even being shot down serves a purpose
But yet proved very effective much the the various predator/reaper drones ,they don't need to be fast ,they are primarily a reconnaissance drone able to carry relative Small payload of munitions,
Drones don't need to be fast to be effective,
The Bayraktar is too slow to be useful against a modern army. The fact it took Russia so long to shoot it down was the most surprising aspect of its service. It's effectively useless now but another reminder about how slow Russia is at adapting. The Iranian drones are of the same ilk.
Remember when turkey bought Russian s400 Anti aircraft missles that got them kicked out of the F35 program, part of the deal involved turkey locally producing the actual missles ,but Russia took the money and sent one unit of S400s but then refused to send the master codes that would allow ankra to build the missles and then refused to send more missles,
It wouldn't make sense that the Turks would sell the Russians codes for drones that could be in theory used in a conflict involving turkey and Russia,
But Russia and turkey have this weird neither friend not enemy relationship especially as it was apparently the Russians who warned Erdogan of a potential coup a few years back that led to a massive clampdown on democracy and political opposition parties by the Erdogan regime
Maybe there was a guarantee of sorts. If they don't work, either write off/ discount the invoice or prepare to be disadvantaged in various ways by your superiors and states you rely on.
All you want to know about depleted uranium-
Misinformation on the radioactivity of depleted uranium (pressenza.com)
This would have been a chance for them to make a move tiktokers and an a weakened Russian military, could have been severely damaged by Chechens if they decided to make changes, still surprised the Georgians didn't try to take back there occupied territory, though in saying that they seem to have a Kremlin leaning government in power
...
Which came first, the hen or the egg? For sure, the Russian's treated the Chechens the very same as they are now treating Ukrainians. Chopping of heads, hands and feet...and worse was common practice, so no surprise the Chechens retaliated. But what's really difficult to understand is why Chechens ( at least some of them, Kadyrov does not speak for all Chechens, not by a long shot! ) even Kadyrov fight for Putin after the way he treated them.
Article on Chinas lack of amphibious capability. It was 30k not the 25k I wrote.
I completely forgot to follow up the source.
From what I saw of it, the drone damaged it and it had to be taken some where else for repairs. So yes, it was damaged, but no, it was not blown up. Had it been blown up, it would have been beyond repair.
T-72 T-62 T-54/55 all totally outclassed
From breach to cease-fire, the battles of Desert Storm lasted a bit under a hundred hours. Between 25,000 and 50,000 Iraqi soldiers were killed and 80,000 captured. Of the 219 U.S. soldiers who died, 154 perished in battle, too many of them in friendly fire.
About 3,300 Iraqi tanks were destroyed in desert battles and by air attack. The coalition lost 31.
Kurdish propaganda you'd think they'd know better
Taiwan is safe. China only has the ability to land 25k men amphibiously they totally lack the hardware (Germany same problem in WW2). It's estimated around 2 million men would need to be landed to take the island and that's just not happening in this decade. Taiwan straits are very treacherous to cross in the good season and outright impossible most of the time. Taiwanese are dug in like ticks (70 years prep). It's all hot air from China. The best they could do is launch missiles en masse for spite at civilian targets and infrastructure.
