Chinese electric car brand BYD to enter Irish market this year (breakingnews.ie)
They include PHEVs in that number
let’s compare apples with apples and not oranges
there 2022 numbers are:

It's largely an academic argument, I don't think anybody can argue that BYD aren't spending money on electrification. BYD are the largest EV manufacturer in the world, Tesla are the largest BEV manufacturer. I think Tesla's recent price cuts were a pre-emptive strike against BYD's expansion outside of China. The euro manufacturers are the ones who are going to suffer.
Isn't it the Nio ET7 that has the potential for insane range with potential 150 kwh pack??????.
Unless there's some info I'm not aware off
You're right.
But they're are still #2 in EV deliveries globally, after Tesla, #3 in EV batteries globally, and #3 in market cap globally.
With regards the Atto 3 price.
Dutch website configurator shows 43k and 45k
Denmark website - 44k and 47k respectively
That's is Ioniq 5 money... 🤨
In Denmark, where cars are NOT cheap, the cheapest Ioniq 5 is 374,995
I don't think it is easy to compare like to like with Denmark compared to Ireland.
€50,350 for the Essential Ioniq 5 58kw compared to Executive here for €40,995
And the Netherlands?
€48,295, cheaper than Denmark but still cheaper for the BYD.
Aussie woman drove her Atto 3 from Perth to Sydney and back. And to think people in this country worry about range. 8221km, 43 stops
Ah yea but she wasn't in a rush home to Kerry after the All Ireland
Or having to drive to Dublin in an emergency!
That's a hell of a journey. I done it once in a plane. The only way to do it.
BYD cars are very efficient not Tesla but one of the best on par with Niro etc. Check Nylands tests.
BYD leverage the experience with delivering millions of EVs plus their experience being a major global battery maker. There is a synergy between the two. Plus they go full on LFP which has environmental benefits and longevity benefits. They get 20-25% better efficency than MG who are amateurs front, back and centre.
The poor efficiency is one the main reasons I've decided against the MG - apart from **** customer service, **** dealers and **** build & software quality.
UK Pricing is out
Prices start from £36,490 for the entry-level Active model, which will be available from the middle of the year onwards. That means buyers who want to pick up an Atto now will need to opt for either the mid-spec Comfort model which starts from £36,990 or the range-topping Design which comes with a £38,990 price tag.

It's getting very reviews too,.
From Insta
Yep, will be big & heavy - but it will be one of the few 7 seaters on the market aimed at undercutting the premium brands.
There were rumours of a 108kwh battery last year in a model update, but I've not heard of anything since. Given it will probably retail around €78k, a 20% increase in battery size would increase the price considerably.
A big negative, even with the current battery, is max charging rate is currently limited to 100kW.
Looks like atto3 in UK £38,000
Electrifyings look at the Atto 3.
Spotted one of these in Galway on Friday. Was on foreign reg plates, possibly dutch. Similar in size to a Qashqai.
No launch date yet for Ireland, no response from BYD Ireland email or BYD Europe email or BYD Europe CEO on Facebook.
Awe that's a pity. Hopefully they sort there **** out soon.
That Atto interior is horrific.
I like it, it's something different anyway. But it could date fast. There is a reason almost every interior looks the same.
I can get an email reply from BYD Australia but not from BYD Ireland.
They will formally launch in the next 4 weeks or so
Still shocked at 72k Han entry
Where are you getting the information from?
Should be cars on the road here by May.
Is there a test car in Ireland Mark? My wife is convinced she saw a D reged one in Wexford recently.
