Ukrainans starting to learn combined arms and supressing fire,NATO style
This shows the importance of training
The first 10 minutes or so of this video are worth a watch. It basically explains why, due to geographic reasons, Crimea is such a difficult place to attack and goes through the history of attacks from various armies over the past 170 years:
I have no idea, perhaps chbs could translate.
Something coming out of pro russian troll accounts and misinformation id say
No doubt it will be a tough task with heavy casualties,it always is in the attacking role, but remember others that tried troughout histoy, was before the time of satellites, intelligence, presicion guided munitions, drones and combined arms operations.
Be careful with this be careful with that. Sorry where the the conflict have the Russians not suffered horrendous casualties. In the race to Kiev this time last year they lost significant amounts of troops and materials. They had a plane load of paratroopers shot out of the air.
Probably in the second stage in the East during last spring they may have had the upper hand however they were still attacking and the UA probably inflicted significant casualties on them then as well. After that you had the boateen that was sunk. The static war during the early summer allowed the UA to use technology to inflict serious causalities again on the Russians even during the counter offencivies the UA were not using blunt attacks but rather rapid movement to drive back the Russians.
Them we have Bakhmut the gift that keeps on giving for the UA. There biggest fear is the Russian and Wagner group will disengage. So they keep putting the word out they are nearly beaten to try to prevent a retreat by the Russians.
The Russians have been getting the sh!t kicked out of them for most of the last year. 7-1 it is I say.
Remember it important to acknowledge
BAKHMUT HOLDS
The photoshopped text on the BMP says "Москаляку на гіляку", meaning "Muscovy to the branch (to hang)".
The TV subtitle is "VESTI. Ukrainian punishment battalion Ku Klux Klan in the name of Stepan Bandera". Vesti is a Russian TV studio.
As fake as it comes, pretty poor effort at that
But wait they are all inexperienced conscripts sent to the front without any training??
“Amateurs talk tactics, experts talk logistics”
" His first National Security Strategy was a change in focus on his predecessor, specifically calling out Russia and China. I would submit that on this issue, at least, he was entirely right."
I'd submit he did a bollox job on trying to focus on China, to the world's eventual regret. China is much more of a menace now, than before Trump decided to call them names, blame the "Kung Flu" for Covid, insult them by banning flights, etc. There might've been more professional ways to achieve whatever it was he wanted with China, but too late now. And, with the Ukraine conflict, China are 'feeling their oats' catching the US on the back foot (cf. Iran/SA agreement). So, if anything, Trump made the threat from China worse.
On Russia, I don't know - he obviously was in Putlers good graces and got help with his election. Not sure much was accomplished wrt to Russia - they felt able enough to invade Ukraine. Maybe there were better ways to deal with RuZZia, but hindisght's 20:20 always and clearly other than the proverbial boot to the neck, there's not much RuZZia understands.
Polish Mig 29s could be coming, how long has this been going on for now ,
Yes we have seen that with the russians to often
Slovakia might send 10 mig 29 as well
The loss ratio for Bakhmut comes from a NATO Intelligence assessment:
German Army is now in a poorer State than before the war started.
Barracks without kitchens, toilets. WiFi. Weapons to train with.
Equipment sent to Ukraine and the troops pleased with that but no replacements ordered, not a single Euro of Scholzs 100bn defense fund from last year spent, surprise surprise.
Scholz and his Socialist party have been forced by international presence to send weapons previously. Making sure not a single bullet is replaced in the German Armoury is their way of fixing that long term. It is a small help to Russia.
Sometimes on this thread I would almost think Germany invaded Ukraine given how much time is given over to bashing them.
What was the last war in which this 3/1 ratio actually happened?
About a year. Poland have been a fantastic supporter of Ukraine, but the Polish PM has been dangling those jets in the hope someone will give him good stuff in exchange for his inferior tat seemingly for as long as the war has been going.
I was watching a Youtube interview with a US pilot who flew Mig-29s for 2.5 years. He was based in Germany and was tasked with coming up with a tactics manual for it, and in doing so, he said the best he could come up with for an intercept roll was a central tank and six AA missiles. The combat range for this configuration was a pitiful 240km, which allowed only 2 minutes on station using some afterburner and flying curves before needing to return to base.
They need western jets badly.
Thats not completely true,Rheinmetall have started increasing their production and so have many other european ammunition producers.
Since Germany is part of NATO,this will be the same troughout NATO nations.
But German Bundeswehr needs a major overhaul,no doubt
It's been known for a long time, there's nothing new in those reports , army, navy and airforce are a shambles,
Its just a mathematical model created from various battles troughout history, called the 3-1 rule
It does offcourse not apply to everyone and everybody since it depends on the fighting style, tactics and strategies used
But it does apply to the soviet style of fighting in ww2,and we see that with the russians in Bakhmut and elsewhere too
It's very odd that he would pledge to spend that money last year and then not do so. It seems like the political risk was gone. Surely sprucing up barracks and improving the lot, in general for German troops would be far less contentious than sending weapons abroad. I understand there is a complicated history in that country given their past but why pledge the money in the first place then?
I see Ron De Santis has said the protection of Ukraine is not ‘vital’ for the US. Worrying stuff if he goes for and wins the Republican presidential nomination next year.
Thankfully, Boris Pistorius, the new German minister for defense, is turning out to be a profound breath of fresh air in the MoD in Berlin. I've only seen a few of his interviews, but he's s straight talker, not afraid to say when he needs to read up on things instead of giving some PR spiel, and knows his place, not meddling with military strategy. It probably helps that he served himself in the 1980s as a conscript, in a Gepard SPAAG unit of all things. Tellingly, a surprising number of serving <Bundeswehr soldiers and officers that are active on social media have been pretty impressed by him.
Granted it's early days, but I'm hopeful that he can at least get the ball rolling.
Of course, they (DeSantis and Trump) can't wait to "not support" Ukraine because it's much more enticing to "stick it to" the Dems than have any principles or concerns about the modern day equivalent of Hitler invading Europe.
I had to check the date on that as there was a very similar ludicrous claim last March, but it was an underground missile factory 😂
There was a similar story from Syria a few years ago where they destroyed (orc's) destroyed a secret underground bunkers containing a C&C ,US , French, German and Israeli special forces units and there was no survivors ,a victory for the orc airforce,it even parroted several times by boards posters in celebration......
Russia nor the Posters ever provided any evidence it actually happened
Indeed. Sad to see that the pursuance of domestic politics in the US has reached such a point that any issue is seized upon to stick it to ‘themuns’.
Plus the republican party are mad for Putin smegma....those fukkers would sell their souls to get one over on the dems!
