I think the guy with the sledge hammer shows up after you've had the gun taken away, your legs broken and your head clingfilmed to a wall/post/bricks. or in your mind , do you think there's a ninja military police outfit sneaking about the woods with sledgehammers on the prowl for deserters.
If a guy with a sledgehammer is going to pulverise you if you quit your post and you have a machine gun, what would you do?
Did you bother to read my post. Everyone in Parliament and Council are elected by you, in Elections run in this country, by VOTE. The commissioner is appointed by our Taoiseach. If you don't like that the change it, it's not an EU rule that commissioners are appointed.
Most people did ,
Didn't matter if your a General or ordinary joe the absolute majority believed ukraine was not going to exist past February last year
If we're been honest a load of us (myself included) thought Kyiv would fall in the first week.
I wouldn't bother his posts will likely get deleted due to being banned
Everyone with the power to make a decision was placed there not by popular vote but by backroom collusion.
Miley is highly respected either way,he could right on losses or close to it , unfortunately Ukrainians aren't bullet proof, and he wasn't the only one who said Kiev could fall In 72 hours ,
The Ukrainians really think Highly of Milley. What was that other stupendous turd he delivered - oh yes, Ukrainian and Orc losses are equal.
Well.
I stand corrected. I, of all people, should have known this. It was early in the morning...
Yes, I checked the reg and, indeed, it was the so-called "Doomsday" aircraft, a USAF E4-B.
Well spotted. Still interesting, all the same!
Rather that repeating some nonsense you read about the EU, why don't you do some research and find out what it is and how it works. I'm no expert but the below is a pretty good summary, now can you point out the undemocratic bits your so upset about.
The EU has 3 main bodies,
The EU Parliament where the MEP's are elected in each country respectively. IRL gets a greater number of MEP's than it's population deserves, the EU does this so smaller countries voices aren't drowned out. You get to vote for these people, all EU countries do this.
The EU council where each country is represented by 1 council member (Leo for us). So 27 countries with 1 person from each. IRL has the same say as any other EU country, such as Germany, France, Spain etc.. Each country typically has their PM as the council member, so get involved in your general elections to have your say !
The EU Commission, again 1 rep from each country, you don't get to vote for him, he's appointed by our council member (Leo). But if you don't like that, then petition your local TD and campaign for the IRL commissioner to be elected rather than appointed by our elected leader, who works on your behalf.
All the laws "imposed" on us come from these 3 bodies, look it up yourself. Now back to UKr
Its not that their is a guy with a sledgehammer, but I suspect you knew that. It's what the guy with the sledgehammer is doing, thats the point.
If you no longer want to take part in a war and you have a gun, what's the problem with a guy with a sledgehammer? Put a bullet in him and go on your merry way.
There are now about 1/4 million less russian speakers in the world then there were last year, aggregating both side's losses in the war. Also, this doesn't include the potential of millions of Ukrainians who now refuse to speak russian due to the hatred they now foster. Some own goal!
In the words of Trevor Noah, it's an awful language to have to listen to, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IlIbDu1Xyo
You seem to think the EU is some sort of Soviet Politburo with centralised powers.
What sort of laws do you think this autocratic Politburo is enforcing on Europe? Most EU laws are concerned with the environment, health & safety and workers' hours.
The footage is heavily edited (because it is a propaganda video) so the drone may have panned around an looked elsewhere or maybe the pilot was in communication with other drone pilots in the area who were keeping an out for any surprises.
Obviously that's all speculation. It was a good propaganda video even if it wasn't tactically smart.
You could be right. Americans see their tax dollars going to Ukraine with little to show for it. A large and successful counter offensive may help with support.
It could have been worse they could have sent tanks then had a vote and gotten 110% of the population voted for occupation,
I'm sure you might enjoy the Russian version of democracy, but then again it's always safer saying that living here in Ireland
Maybe the Summer/Autumn Ukrainian counter offensives influenced opinion here? The rise from 9% to 40% amongst Republicans saying too much aid is being given is still concerning though. This time next year the presidential race will be looming large with the primaries kicking off, so Ukraine will need a big win at some stage this year to influence opinion in it's favour IMO.
Why not? The EU is an anti-democratic organisation, run by unaccountable politicians that impose laws on the citizens of member states without their consent. That is creating political tension right across Europe, the representatives elected by the people on local issues go on to implement laws handed to them from the EU, these representatives were not elected on that basis. Effectively the people we do elect are powerless to change anything, even if they wanted to, and we get a political narrative imposed on us that we don't understand and if given a free choice may reject e.g. Lisbon & Nice were rejected initially before the electorate re-voted "the right way".
Surprising to see an increase in support (not doing enough) in Jan for both Republican and democrats.
Start using the seized assets to buy equipment from the US for Ukraine and I'm sure support will increase.
Another poll from Pew Research. 40% of Republicans/Republican leaning independents say too much aid is being given to UKR versus 15% for Democrats/Democratic leaning independents (Jan 2023).
RE Miller, Its just geopolitics at play here and it all evolves around US interests, if their intelligence/analists predicts that a Russia without Putin is bad for the US then the Ukraine war will not be the stage for Putins demise... At present they provide just enough aid to maintain a very delicate balance.
RE Cheney, The US and UK itself engaged in an outraged aggresion when they invaded Iraq in 2003, Based on fake intel parroted by then Colin Powell at the UN. resulting in hundreds of thousands excess deaths related to the war in Iraq (Lancet) and the rise of ISIS . Letting people getting away with commiting attrocities is quite normal.
In the context of the massive consequences arrising from this geopolitical game gone wrong, those thousands of children being abducted plays an insignificant role
They could have asked Democrats and Republicans the same question ffs.
D: Support Ukraine even at a cost to the US
R: Back Ukraine for as long as it takes.
I didn't say they wanted Ukraine to be defeated.
In a single battle against just 6oo Wagner troops in Syria, The US used: B-52s, F-22's, AC-130 gunships, F-15 strike eagles, AH-64 Apache attack helicopters, MQ-9 Reaper drones, and few other minor items.
The US fielded more systems to defeat a pidddling 600 Wagnerians than they have given Ukraine to defeat a far larger Wagner contingent and 93% of Orc ground forces, all numbering in the several hundreds of thousands.
Between that Syrian engagement and the war in Ukraine, do you know what commonality there is in terms of US support? M-777 howitzers, 155mm shells and assorted amminition - from the minor items basket.
Under no circumstances will ukraine allow Russia to keep svastaspol or any other occupied territory, including bases,if they can get to Melitopol Crimea is lost for the Russians, the Ukrainans could hammer them from retaken territories,as it stands they are hemmed in svastaspol at some stage they will have a decision to make stay and hope they don't lose valuable ships and subs or face a last stand in an area with little room to menuver ,
Liz Cheney is an outlier in the Republican party. Republicans are less enthusiastic about the war than the Democrats.

I don't think Ukraine will give up on Crimea. At best I see them agreeing to Russia keeping their base in Sevastopol. I know it seems impossible but look where Ukraine has come from 10 years ago. Now that the gloves are off there's no more surprise attacks by Russia and while their army weakens Ukraine's gains in strength.
Another 12 months from now things won't look pretty for Russia. That's assuming they haven't lost by then.
That's what happens when someone reads something and can't see past the quotes for what they are,
Of course Americans will keep putting out statements about negotiating, but when they are already deep into supporting ukraine, they are hardly going to be ramping up retoric against putin,
People are obsessing over the wrongthings
Absolutely the wildest first shooter action I have ever seen, this guy has absolute balls of steel.
