Because most western countries do not have sufficient operable stocks of their own so that they may give much away to Ukraine.
The west has de-industrialised over the past 30 years and de-armed too*, and now they realised what a stupid idea it was to do that. Much easier to cut defence spending and increase welfare and other vote winners than to take defence forces seriously. It happened everywhere, none worse than Ireland. Even the UK army, RAF, Navy are now being exposed as massively under-strength and in need of serious investment. The Russo-Ukrainian conflict is setting off alarm bells all over Europe and in the Pentagon because of how low stocks are of key weapons and ammunition, particularly artillery shells.
*not totally de-armed/industrialised of course, but massively down from previous levels
Belarus is about to enter the war...
😁
At first glance your post looks like it belongs in the batshit crazy box. But seeing as putin has been threatening to use nuclear weapons for some time maybe it's an option worth considering.
Sure Russians are taking bakhmut tonight, and every other night for the last 6 months ,
Better armchair maybe
Nooo.
Not the nukes again, this just triggers the usual suspects, let's not get involved in Ukraine he has nukes 😂
"...which dashed the myth I had of the Tiger being only bleedin brilliant"
I suspect that this opinion of the Tiger, under which I laboured myself a long time ago, comes (apart from the "Wehraboo" fraternity) from tactical wargaming, where the Tiger's frontal armour and 88mm gun (that's 88L for any ASL players 🙂) really do make it "bleedin brilliant". But in a tactical wargame you don't have to repair it, maintain it, refuel it, pay for it, manufacture it or transport it to the front.
He's fairly knowledgable but his predictions are often very outlandish and I suspect purposely so to sell his books/for clicks. His views are overly pro-american, the future is always bright for the US but bleak for everyone else. He recently predicted that China would fail in 10 years and Russia in 20 or so due to their rapidly aging demographics, which is why he thinks Putin has pushed for this expansion now as the military age group will rapidly dwindle in the coming years.
He speaks very confidently and is often correct but hes one you need to take with a pinch of salt at times.
Netherlands sold all their Leopard 2's away 10 years ago, so it's unlikely they'll send any. Finland was never going to send more than a few tanks, if that. Also, the defense minister said today the Welt's story was not true at all. Most armies don't have spare tanks lying around in storage, so it's not surprising many countries are reluctant to send a significant number to Ukraine.
The guy provides analysis to the US Govt, so to be given some credit. Not Joe Rogan obviously, Peter Zeihan. Why it's important to listen to the guest and not the host, but sometimes it's best to avoid both depending on the episode.
Couldn't resist it. Sorry.
I meant the other connotation of promise - an expectation of favourable future circumstance. 'she showed great promise.'
What crackpot website did you read those claims
They have 18 lepoard 2 tanks but they are only leased from Rheinmetall and schlotz blocked them from being bought by the dutch to then give to the Ukrainans
Sources for Zelensky sacking his entire administration, that 30% of aid that was sent is "gone", that 20 billion isn't accounted for.
These sources better not be the Russian disinfo I suspect it is.
Also, your mask is now fully off.
In Darfur, Sudan, I drove an elderly Dacia. The engine and gearbox worked in that it always started and drove. The brakes were ok ( once you got used to them, ditto the steering) the suspensions had given up the ghost a long time ago, so the ride was a bit bouncy, but you got used to that. The windows once you got them open, you might find it difficult to close them again, and its not funny when the very hot desert wind blows very hot sand into the car. I doubt very much if it had to go for an NCT, it would pass, most likely they would stick it straight in the crusher. But you know something, that car never let me down, either in the desert or around town. You need different solutions for different circumstances.
"Difficulty Ukraine is having"
🤣
There is only one side in difficulty here, and it certainly isn't Ukraine.
Was it a high school boondoggle ???
But according to one supposedly respectable person on here, it's Ukraine that is having the difficulty.
😜
I think they're mistaking a spat last year between the Republicans and Biden ver the US not having proper accountability checks in place to monitor 20 billion (at the time?) of weapons sent, and have taken it up as Ukraine actually having lost the lot. The onus is on the US to track their aid, it shouldn't fall on the receiver in the middle of a war.
What's any of that got to do with Russians murdering and raping their way into Ukraine?
I give more of a sh!t about Ukrainian civilians than you and your ilk do. And I care more about Ukrainian civilians or any civilians than you do. You certainly don't care one whit about Russian civilians since some of your fellow travellers called for the nuking of Russian cities and banning Russians from travelling simply because they are Russian. Some want Russians abroad all put under surveillance or made to publicly denounce the Putin government or be booted out of the country.
They both are having difficulty. Russia lost half or more of their tanks, Ukraine has lost enough as to be very reliant on the promise of western MBTs.
Western MBTs would not be such a big deal had Ukraine not lost enough equipment of their own either. Contrary to either side's propaganda, it is a bloody war of attrition on both sides. Big losses all round
Also in tactical wargaming you're not dealing with crippling allied air superiority, severe lack of fuel, increasingly poorly trained crews, and general lack of supporting units that really crippled Germany's ability to engage effectively against Allied forces in Western Europe.
In isolation the Tiger was a very formidable tank, but German armour in general after 1943 or so was operating under horrendously one-sided conditions.
Stop with the lies.
They have gained more than they lost,
Unlike the orcs who can't replace their 60% losses
In other conflicts you would euphemistically call this "collateral damage", would you not? If the Russians deliberately targeted these sites then they should be held accountable. But it's no secret that the Ukrainians have been positioning command centres and gun batteries in civilian residential areas and schools. Some on here have even said "what do you expect them to do, place them in a wide open field where they are sitting ducks?"
US Ambassador to the OSCE Michael Carpenter said that he expects broad support in the US for a possible decision by the Netherlands to transfer F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine , he said in an interview with Delfi .
Asked whether the White House was ready to allow the Netherlands to supply Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets, the ambassador said: “We have long held the view that what our allies supply is their business. And we support the countless (defense) contributions that our allies contributed for Ukraine”.
Carpenter called it correct to discuss the transfer of more modern weapons to Ukraine compared to last year, when Kiev was mainly handed over Soviet-made equipment.
“And so I expect there will be broad support in the United States from our allies who will continue to step up their contributions,” Carpenter said.
Any sovereign country, including NATO members, can provide Ukraine with combat aircraft and conduct pilot training for them, National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby said at a briefing on Feb. 10.
“These are all sovereign decisions,” said Kirby. “If a NATO nation or even a non-NATO nation wants to provide capabilities like fighter aircraft to Ukraine, that’s certainly their decision to make.”
You didn't correct me, US officials have made it pretty clear the decision is up to the countries that have the F-16s. Kirby did not correct or refute the original statement by Carpenter, he re-affirmed it.
More and more cracks showing
Lol 😂😂😂
So how come no American F16s ,F15s,F18s,A10s been sent to Ukraine,oh the dutch might be able to send a few
