in 1 week, when Russia potentially lost 5400 soldiers and 437 pieces of equipment, how many sq. km or land have they taken? They may have gained 3km (maybe 1 sq. km) from Kuzmyne to Dibrova in a very very narrow focus attack (only 576km to Kyiv)

Reality of the situation really. Pretty sure they are all at least valid dark thoughts that people have from time to time in minds of a Ukrainian there. Seems pretty obvious to me. People worry about things in extreme circumstances.
Usually I ignore most videos and pictures from conflict tbh as they could be anything most of the time.
Be that as is may, the simple fact running through each Ukrainian defender (and I'll include everyone from soldiers to nurses, doctors, rail workers, civil engineers etc.... it's a very long list) knows what they do and defend is against their family getting raped and murdered. That's pretty strong motivation. It's almost impossible for us in Ireland to comprehend what strength and determination people can muster when their loved ones are at risk.
When your country is expected to fall in 3 days and nearly a year later you have beat back the worlds second army and inflicted massive losses, when you have asked and begged for artillery and now it's arriving weekly, you ask for HIMARS, get it, ask for tanks, get it.... when the western world is pretty much going all in on you and citizens in said countries are feeling a financial burden but still backing you.... how does that not boost ones morale?

If you trust the Ukraine MoD then over 100k Russians killed alone, that + wounded would mean the entire russian force & mobilised are out of action.
And yet the US estimate is 100k total casualties - why the discrepancy?
The idea that any territorial gain is actually costing Russians so many bodies that they will just collapse over time may prove to be a very misguided one - it encourages complacency from the West in terms of supplying and arming Ukraine and their own armies too, because people believe the propaganda that Ukraine is slowly winning this war. Right now they are not - and without a bucketload of artillery pieces they will not.
Which doesn't suggest that's the Ukrainans morale is low ,if the Ukrainans morale is low based off your view would that mean the Russians morale is high?

Things are slow now and it would be absolutely stupid of Ukraine to counter attack into mud. Ukraine are going to sit tight until the spring. We will see then if a RU counterattack materialises. Right now they are just throwing bodies at Ukraine and having minor success. The biggest success RU have had is pushing back against the gains UKR made in Kremmina which is unfortunate.
I'm worried about this new wave of mobilisation and RU counter attack in Spring but also think the Bradleys could well be a game changer for Ukraine. They destroyed more tanks than the Abrams in Iraq and outrange the RU tanks. Not bad for an armoured personnel carrier.
I'd say Ukraine is letting RU grind their troops down in an attempt to play politics back home. We just keep hearing nonsense from Russia. Soledar was meant to be the end of Bahkmut and yet it's still standing and it feels like a consolation prize for Wagner.

I do believe the Ukrainian numbers. They are backed up by the countless videos of fields full of smoked orcs after failed assaults, not to mention the times when Ukraine blasted them with HIMARS in huge numbers while they were asleep in schools.

Ukraine has reported more than 108,190 Russian troops have been killed in action. A rough estimate of the number of Russian soldiers wounded in this period would be north of 324,000.
At the start of the war they claimed just under 200k troops were involved, and then the mobilisation in Russia rounded up ~300k. So 500k total (ignoring a large chunk now in Belarus training/acting as a diversion). The idea that 450k of that 500k total are casualties is absurd. But I'd expect no less from Chuck Pfarrer
