Replacing bathroom strip light with mirror with inbuilt light

Strip light only has Neutral and Live connections, new mirror with LED lights has an Earth connection.

Does a new cable need to be run for this install?

The strip light has a built in on/off switch and the mirror also has an on/off touch switch

Thinking aloud, I wonder if the cable is earthed to the spur and they just took a Neutral and Live off it.

only a rec is permitted to do electrical work in bathrooms

Then it’s unlikely to have rcd protection. If a new cable is installed then it has to conform to current regulations

Sparks used the wrong coloured cable

theyll need to be replaced anyway as there’s no earth. Post #2 covers it.

3 neutrals could be loop in, loop out and feed to the light just like a standard ceiling rose. would need to see more of the wiring to be sure e.g. where the red cable was coming from/going to

The red cable is part of the strip light. The strip light just has neutral and live connections
