Considering the weather conditions. not really. Another 4 games only decided by less than a try as well. shows how tough it was to play today

Was he playing centre or backrow?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4 Mccurragh

When you look at the quality of Ucc's team & the coaching set up you would wonder what's going wrong in the set up.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,979 ✭✭✭ulsteru20s

The only three names i recognize are all under 19s, so maybe just a young team? I’d say coaching is outsized important at that level though.

I didnt catch the number. He usually plays back row i think.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,691 ✭✭✭Lost Ormond

Its university team so always going to be young but there is a few guys who're out of 20s 3/4 years.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4 Mccurragh

Young team , but exceptional players a lot of provincial or ex provincial players, they started the season well but faded away . Michael Bradley and Ken O Connell are coaching them , I was expecting to go back to 1a this year but not now i'd say

1A very interesting now with todays results. https://www.irishrugby.ie/2023/01/28/energia-all-ireland-league-results-round-up-16/

Clontarf and Con just 3 behind Terenure but big gap of 9 to cashing pack of Young Munster, Trinity and Ballynahinch. Another gap of 8 to Lansddwne who lead pack trying to avoid relegation playoff. Young Munster Trinity game real good battle today in Limerick. Young Munster will be disappointed not to have won more but for

Buccs lead 1B on points difference from Armagh. Very tight here with Highfield 3 behind the top two, Belvedere 2 further behind. Wesley another 3 behind. Malone bottom and 7 behind Banbridge who will hope they can close the current 4 point gap to UCC.

Queens lost to Nenagh at home today so their lead reduced to 3 with the chasing pack of Barnhall and Blackrock both winning. No changes in position for any side in the division but gap slightly wider with Nenagh in 5th now 7 clear of Navan in 6th. 7 points between 1st and 5th means a lot will change for promotion playoffs etc. At other end Ballymenas win over Dolphin even with Dolphins 2 Bonus points means gap ibetween the two is now 9 with Bottom side Bohs a further 3 behind. Quite likely the 2 munster sides will be relegated/in playoffs.

Greystones yet to lose in 2B and 8 clear of Corinthians who are 17 clear of 3rd. Corinthians have game in hand on stones. Only 7 points between 3rd and 8th so lot will change in next few weeks. Malahide in 8th have 5 points over Galwegians, and then another 5 points difference to last place Enniscorthy. Enniscorthy have a game in hand over Malahide and Wegians.

Instonians also yet to lose but also impressively have got the max 60 points from their 12 games in 2C and 18 clear of 2nd. Tullamore and Skerries leading the charge for the playoff spots. Clonmel 4th with Bruff just on their tails. Sundays Well in the relegation spot and Ballina are in the playoff position but Midleton are a point ahead and Omagh a further 2 ahead so next few weeks will change a lot here

Senior cup games this weekend in few provinces. In Ulster Ballymena Malone play tonight. Banbridge beat Rainey 35-8 last night while Bangor conceded to Armagh.

Munster semi finals are Saturday Nenagh host Highfield attempting to be the first tipperary club still in existence to make the final of the senior cup. Rockwell had teams in early years pre world war to make final. 2nd semi is an all 1A tie with Young Munster hosting Con

Buccs play Queens in Bateman Cup semi final this weekend as well. winner plays Terenure in final

  • Registered Users Posts: 250 ✭✭Strand1970

I say it's an unwanted distraction for Buccs especially when pushing for promotion

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,691 ✭✭✭Lost Ormond

Buccs beat Queens 45-21 in Bateman Cup so will play final against Terenure on 11th March in venue yet to be decided

Just the 3 games this weekend with all moving kick off time to avoid clash with Irish game

Ballymena Crescent in 2A and Belfast Harlequins Corinthians and Rainey Enniscorthy in 2B all kick off at 12.30

In the Junior leagues Bective leading Leinster by 7 points with 3 games to go. Theyve to travel to 2nd place Gorey in last round but should have league sealed before then. Gorey, Monkstown should have all ireland cup spots with last spot between Suttonians and Seapoint.

Richmond lead Munster by 10 with3 games to go. They should win league but 3 places for all ireland cup to be decided between 4 teams. Bandon, Newcastle West, Kilfeacle and Mallow 3 points between them all fighting for all ireland cup spots.

Connacht Creggs are first so have home advantage and will be favourites in league semis. Connemara and Castlebar will also be in semis.

Ballyclare lead Clogher Valley by 5 points. Ballyclare have 1 game to play while Clogher Valley have 3 games to play following their run to winning the All Ireland Junior Cup. Clogher Valley should do enough to win the title.

Before Pro rugby and the league getting 1,000s attending club games

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,691 ✭✭✭Lost Ormond

    1A

    Ballynahinch v Terenure

    Clontarf v Young Munster

    Lansdowne v Cork Con

    Shannon v Trinity

    UCD v Garryowen

Bit of a gap could emerge at bottom if both UCD and Trinity win

Imagine top 3 should win as well even with 2 of them away from home

    1B

    Armagh v Banbridge

    Malone v Old Wesley

    Old Belvedere v Highfield

    Marys v Naas

    UCC v Buccaneers

4th v 3rd game of day in Ollie Campbell Park.

    2A

    Cashel v Dolphin

    Barnhall v Ballymena

    Navan v Blackrock

    Nenagh v Old Crescent

    Bohs v Queens

Queens should have no problem to keep their lead at at least 3. Barnahll should beat Men

    2B

    Belfast Harlequins v Enniscorthy

    Corinthians v Dungannon

    Malahide v Galwegians

    Rainey v Greystones

    Sligo v Wanderers

    2C

    Bruff v Instonians

    Clonmel v Ballina

    Midleton v Bangor

    Omagh v Skerries

    Sundays Well v Tullamore

Tarf ahead of Terenure top of 1A by a point after Nure lost to Ballynahinch

Armagh up to 1st in 1B ahead of Buccs by a point Belvedere win over Highfield lifts them above their opponents today. no other changes

Queens surprise loss to Bohs means they drop below Barnhall with Nenagh up to 3rd switching positions with Blackrock now 4th and Cashel 5th. Bohs win lifts them level with Dolphin

No change in top 4.. Greystones lead 2B by 6 after they won against 3rd place Rainey and Corinthians lost to 4th place Dungannon.. Bit of movement mid table and no change at the bottom

No change in 2C bar Midleton win moving them from 8th to 7th.

Creggs play Connemara league final next weekend

So no one is going to talk about how you hardcore jinxed Queens there, lol?

  • Registered Users Posts: 605 ✭✭✭Chico Flores

We were fairly tragic in Hinch. Left that one behind us.

Little wobble now but rather now than in a semi final.

Ha! Dont think anyone expected them to lose though tbf. Fairly big shock losing to last placed Bohs who're still going to be relegated/in relegation playoff

Leinster senior cup next weekend Trinity Tarf and Terenure Lansdowne

Munster senior cup final set for March 16th in Thomond Park

Ulster senior cup quarters are 11th March

Sligo Corinthians senior cup semi 11th march. Buccs in final on April 9th

Surprised so few games have moved kick off to avoid clash with Irish game

    1A

    CORK CONSTITUTION v UCD

    DUBLIN UNIVERSITY v CLONTARF

    GARRYOWEN v SHANNON

    TERENURE COLLEGE v LANSDOWNE

    YOUNG MUNSTER v BALLYNAHINCH

    1B

    BANBRIDGE V ST MARY'S COLLEGE

    HIGHFIELD V CITY OF ARMAGH

    NAAS V UCC

    OLD WESLEY V OLD BELVEDERE

    BUCCANEERS V MALONE

The Buccs game is 5.30 pm which seems pretty sensible given the Ireland Italy game. Strange there aren't more delayed Kick offs.

Also the Terenure Lansdowne game and the Trinity Clontarf games double up as Leinster Senior Cup Semi-finals
