No they are not naturally "tougher" than in the west or any other Country. Outside of the citys in the rural areas, they live a pretty basic life, as they have for years, but they live that life because they have to. Its not free choice in this day and age, its enforced on them by Putin and his regime. Here in Ireland within living memory, the Irish lived a hard life too. When cottages were build in Rural areas, they had a half or full acre of land to grow their own food, which they did, and raised a pig or two, and of course chickens. Those days are now gone, but not in rural Russia, they still grow their own potatoes and vegetables, and raise pigs for their own consumption. Same thing with Putins war,,they are forced into it. No choice, and toughness does not come into it. Putin is completely indifferent to the fate of his fellow citizens.
Yes, I read that too, Putins speech. Wonder if Putin attended their funerals though? When / if the next round of mobilizations start, I'd be keeping a close eye on Samara to see what is the reaction there, where most of the dead were from. During the first "limited" mobilization, in Dagestan I think it was, the relatives fought with the military and police to prevent their menfolk being taken away. They were taken none the less, but at least it shows that not every Republic is in favor of Putins war.
The only thing that will cause a Russian collapse is when they run out of artillery. The men will keep coming as they are cheap and don't matter but when the artillery stops its game over. It all depends how much they have left in reserve. That's what will determine the end of this war. Putin would happily throw 100 million mobiks at this this just to get a win armed with nothing more than a wooden bat.
NATO countries should give Ukraine a few nuclear missiles that are launchable from trucks instead of tanks. Nukes stopped the slaughter in Japan in 1945.
They don't have to use them. They don't want to use them. But the potential for their use should bear down on Russia. They themselves have been threatening the west with them over the past year many times, it's time it was reciprocated. Russia just need to withdraw from Ukraine and should be allowed to do so peacefully. If they don't, leave it up to Ukraine to decide how they want to use them.
Let's not be naïve. Ukraine and the Baltic states will need the nuclear deterrent to prevent a reoccurrence of this madness. So give it to them now, sooner rather than later. It won't be NATO attacking them, so they won't be able to strike the west back, Ukraine is not in NATO, Ukraine on it's own will be able to invoke MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction). Russia will skulk away with it's tail between it's legs if it's cities are put under the same threat of destruction as Ukraine's are under
Ukraine should receive from different countries three batteries of Patriot air defense systems, which will help protect the sky from Russian missiles - President Zelenskyi in the evening address
Yes, but the thing is, as it stands, only Russia is threatening to go Nuclear, no one else is. And that makes Russia a pariah world-wide, even amongst its so called allies, China, North Korea and Iran. Its very important that the west and Ukraine continue to hold the moral high ground, especially when the west have more than enough conventional weapons to completely destroy Russia's armed forces. The big problem / issue now is to get all the weapons that Ukraine needs to not only defend against the Ruzzians, but to push them back into Russia, where they were pre Crimea invasion. And ideally further back into Russia so that there's a 100 klm minimum buffer zone.
The only reason Russian tanks aren't rolling into Poland, Finland, and the Baltic states is because they are under the NATO nuclear umbrella
No, but I do, and I expect Ukraine to as well. And as a soldier if my future actions are to be commented upon by this board, I would rather it was based on accurate knowledge so I will correct any errors I see.
How would they get footage from the secure network. I mean if they are able to get video they are intercepting the communications network and can tell where the drones are for a start. I mean even the Ukrainians are not doing that. Their kit is probably microwave or complete spectrum jam so the drone looses contact and resorts to auto land.
Yes, since Feb 2022, this has been clear. Putin has been very carefully tiptoeing around NATO Countrys.....he knows very well what the outcome would be if he did attack them.
Exactly he is not afraid of NATO as it's defensive thats been proven. The are however Very afraid of the Response that would be short sharp and very destructive. Kind of reminds me of mega lo mania game where you had cave men fighting guys with lasers.
You must have a very dirty mind, I was talking about your weapon being an AK47, Steyr , SA80 or some such, youre the one who brought "porn" in to it.,,,,filth bag
And yes, the Orcs would for sure be frightened if they saw you booting it across the front line with your weapon in your hand, fully loaded and ready for action....who wouldnt I dare say ?
The more I hear about this putin the less I care for em
Rolling into where?
The only rolling Russia is doing is of the over and dying type.
They haven’t got the military or leadership to roll anywhere else.
they have destroyed the myth of having any power at all.
and all the while their "friends" the chinese are watching their "ally" getting weaker all the time
What is the international regulation/agreements/ understanding with regards to - , in this case Ukraine- developing a nuclear deterrent be it on land, in the air or at sea? . Could it just ‘buy ‘ the skills to develop the ability - in the same way that it might buy/ import / install an electricity producing power station?
Accident or targeted?
"KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — A helicopter crash in a Kyiv suburb Wednesday killed 16 people, including Ukraine’s interior minister and two children, according to Ihor Klymenko, chief of Ukraine’s National Police.
Nine of those killed were aboard the emergency services helicopter that crashed in Brovary, Kyiv’s eastern suburb, Klymenko said."
..
eyewitnesses reported seeing fire in the helicopter before it came crashing to the ground
minister of interior and head of internal affairs both killed. No reports of Russian AA missiles involved yet
Defenestration beckons for someone in Sweden...
In regards to the Chopper crash, I think more choppers go down from mechanical failure than acts of violence. There was a former US airforce guy back in the 1990s that said of helicopters that if one wanted to stay alive in the air stay the hell away from choppers as they are machines that were made up of thousands of parts all trying to tear each other apart.
Helicopters are notoriously dangerous. Mate of mine flies both planes and helicopters, but always speaks about how dangerous the heli is. Could well be a tragic accident.
No doubt Russia will claim it either way.
Wait for photo shopped pictures of putin himself carrying an rpg with the blondy one in the background looking adoring at him
It appears to be a French super puma helicopter
9 in the chopper Inc 3 crew and 9 on the ground looks like low visibility
Things are bad enough for them the minister was well respected
One could only wish this on putin although I would wish a slow and painful with a large audience
Kind of makes me wonder, if that embassey had the abilites to Photoshop that map to include Crimea in Russia, what else in Ukraine would they also define as "Russia"? My guess is that they can't becuase they haven't a f*cking clue what the border should look like, and know damned well they have no real claim to any of it.
But I do still enjoy how feckless their Overseas staff are that they can't even double-check a map on a tweet that makes some feeble remark about fuel inflation.
The puma helicopter that crashed was flying in heavy fog this morning and flying fairly low level,
In Most cities helicopters aren't allowed fly directly over populated areas instead they have to fly around rather than through on certain paths,
In London helicopters have to fly Along the themes river rather than over the city
Sweden? [edit] ah, I see now.
Whoever coloured the map of Ukraine for sure... They will be asked to consider some blue sky thinking up close and personal.
I can't understand how a helicopter crash could start 3 big fires on the ground.
Yeah helicopters always strike me as accidents waiting to happen, and they do happen a lot.
This is a very sad accident though
Helicopters are as lethal as they are vulnerable. Same could be said about the T80.
