Clerical Officer in the Civil Service 2022 | Civil Service - publicjobs.ie
Hi everyone. I'm being considered for a role with An Garda Siochana in Waterford City. There is a big station in Ballybricken. I'm assuming I'm being considered for there but not 100% sure. Does anybody know if it's a regular 9 to 5, or is it a shift system? Also, is there anyone else being considered for AGS? The extra vetting is so slow. I know it can take up to 10 weeks but it's a painful wait 😫
Hi all. Does anyone where where they are at with Limerick?
Up to the 230s. Possibly higher
Flexi time. You could be doing anything from dealing with RTA reports to managing the court cases and evidence to guards time sheets to gun licences. Just depends what section your placed in.
Some stations have district and courts offices. Some are just general paperwork.
@Red Honeysuckle Thanks
Spoke to someone in the Civil Service, apparently Revenue and the Passport office need the most staff.
Do you know are they looking for both CO’s and TCO’s in Revenue and the Passport Office?
There are TCO's being hired for the passport office
Thanks! So I might be heading there so. I’m waiting to hear what my assignment is. Do you by any chance know if the TCO contracts in the passport office will be of a decent length?
Probably a good chance of 11 months - they have permission for the same staff numbers they had last year and lots have left
Thanks! Will hopefully get offered there so heard mixes reviews about it but would be happy if offered a contract there.
The government is planning to strip AGS civilian staff of civil servant status - once this happens you're basically stuck there, can't apply for mobility or promotions in the civil service, only very limited promotion options within AGS civilians. Very bad move career wise I'm afraid so avoid if at all possible.
@Hotblack Desiato Really? I didn't know that. Thanks for the heads up
Yeah they are changing AGS from Civil service to the Public Sector. Like that comment above says you will loose all civil service benefits and won’t be able to transfer. I have heard too if you get put in a station you can just be stuck there with no option of a promotion ever.
Definitely think it over before agreeing to that change.
@Charliesha92 It's frustrating that I am on the 2022 panel for a year now. It's such a long process. I honestly don't know what to do. Weren't you able to turn down your first offer before, or am I wrong?
Best thing to do would be to email pas and ask them as soon as you can. There was a thread on here a while ago about AGS clerical staff being moved from civil service to AGS and loads of the staff put in for transfers to try get moved before it happens

Hi everyone,
Does anyone know what happens if you refuse an offer?
My girlfriend got offered port inspector and doesn't want it. Now, it does say that the Portal Inspector is required to have access to their own transport, which she does not have, so that's a legitimate excuse.
When I joined the CS 20 years ago, I was given a choice of departments.
Normally a refusal means your out. But that seems a reasonable excuse to refuse
I just got an email from PAS asking if I fancied going for an interview for this position. I don't have a car myself and really don't want shift work again in my life. I now fear that when I'm called for interview, and if successful, it'll now be for this position. They must be struggling to fill the roles?
On looking at it again, I don't think it's an offer. Rather an "expression of interest".
It says:
If you wish to be considered for interview for this role please email CO2022@publicjobs.ie expressing your interest by 9am on Friday, 20th January 2023.
But it doesn't say anything about what happens if not interested.
Means surplus to the CO comp, mass Email, just ignore
Hi
Does anyone know what kind of positions are been offered on the CO2022 Dublin only competition. Seen portal inspector been offered, is that not a separate competition.
Passport office, Revenue for sure, Justice and DSP too from what I've heard.
I assume that will be the same for the current TCO comp too?
Would the Port Inspector be part of the Dublin only campaign? I'd love something like that.
Edir
No I was offered Revenue and started in August. I’m currently going through the process again as I want out of Revenue and hope I get offered a new department.
Maybe email clearance and ask them what happens if you refuse ?
If not you could always accept stay for a few months and then do the option I’ve done and reapply for the next CO that opens in October. You might get a higher OOM second time around and be quicker to get an interview and switch departments that way ?
@Charliesha92 I think that's what I am going to do. I got an email today saying that I will be starting soon.
How long after vetting finished and viewed are people waiting to hear back from PAS?
