So the balls-up has started since last night which makes Fairview from clontarf to Edges corner a single lane with bollards down the centre.
This will be a permanent feature and works will take 21 months.
Do you have the same trouble seeing black cars?
Find it strange when people say this. It's an urban area on a public street, if you cannot see a person dressed in black, your eye sight is not sufficient to hold a drivers license. If it were a rural area with no street light on a high speed road you'd probably have a point but still your headlights should be sufficient.
I know what you mean, some of the motorists on that stretch are going to cause a serious accident alright.
I had a Tesco delivery guy almost left hook me coming towards the Five Lamps the other day. No indicator, and not using his mirrors. He swung to the right which made me think he was going to take the left, so i was able to avoid him when he did. Had a relatively calm chat, and explained that if he just indicated, it would have been easier for both of us.
Or just slow down to a speed that you can see and safely stop in that distance.
You shouldn't be driving faster than 50 in this location anyway and average speeds are closer to 20
I post about piss poor pedestrian routes and so you assume that I drive 😂
Fairly obvious that you're one in the clown shoes in this instance.
I had to get a taxi to the airport a few nights ago, we were 300 metres from a perfectly visible cyclist dressed in black with a tiny red light on a very well, brightly lit road when the driver of the taxi stars roaring "Look at this fella, You can't see him!!" before blaring his horn at the cyclist as he overtook.
I said nothing. (his driving & lane discipline was awful) I still said nothing. One of those taxi drivers you just don't want to get in to it with.
Not too many cars swerve out into the road from a footpath going directly across the road, or approach travelling in the wrong direction on the outbound lane. Cannot believe some cyclists justify the stupid, reckless and dangerous behaviour of a minority.
I wonder if someone broke into his home wearing black would they be as good as invisible
The fact that he said "look at this fella, you can't see him" was enough!
I've not 4read the full thread, so sorry If this has been asked.
Anyone seen any enforcement of the bus only lane going along Fairview, I've noticed a lot of cars use the lane.
The guards are saying it’s not up to them to police it. 🙄
Gardai don't generally police any bus lanes. They say it's not their job.
In fairness if you go to a gardai station and report a very serious criminal offence there's only a slight chance you'll be taken seriously so bus lane enforcement would have no chance at all.
This is Billox. There were 11 people (car drivers) done a week ago today in Fairview. But the Management in Store Street have taken the view that it's not their job to sort out DCC's problem.
Like I said, generally. I've been told personally by Gardai, that it's not their job to police bus lanes. They've released a statement essentially saying they won't do it unless NTA pay them. And I see cars in bus lanes all the time, beside Garda cars, who don't do anything about it.
Did they publicise the 11 cars done in Fairview? It's not going to stop anyone but those 11 drivers.
News to me, I've honestly not came across this before. So essentially no one polices them, people just assume they do!?
Edit: Found this old article, seemingly the Guards are paid by the NTA to police bus lanes 🤨

That, if true, is extraordinary. A government quango, paid-for by tax, pays AGS to police bus lanes but AGS refuses to police bus lanes because they say it’s not their responsibility. Only in Ireland! 🤯
They do police them, just not very often.
About 3 years ago on the North Strand inbound, they were pulling in every car in the bus lane during morning rush hour. They may have just given warnings though, I don't know.
I've never seen this before or after, but if they did it once, then it's their responsibility.
Was talking about it with the missus during lunch, seemingly she has seen 2 instances lately where someone was pulled over in a bus lane by a AGS bike, not sure if it was for being in the bus lane though and not something else. Ive noticed since lock down has ended there is a very scarce AGS on the roads. I'm thinking the traffic corps are an urban legend.
We seemingly have more AGS out there than ever. Where? 🤔
They're been all over the place since they got their new uniform. Mad to show off their new outfit
Just yesterday, I was on the 151 from town towards long mile road. Seen a Garda car having pulled over a van outside crumlin hospital, presumably for driving in the bus lane.
Bus passed them by, then I get off the bus a couple of stops later and see the same Garda car pass by and then pull over another car 100m further up the road... First time in a while I've seen them actively pulling people over!
Wow impressive
There's a good amount of OT available at the moment to be used for traffic and bus lane enforcement. Also our Lycra Larry friends (Cyclists ☺️) are getting special prizes for running red lights.
Lycra - check
Red lights - check
Aww, one more nonsense item on your list and you'd have won yourself a prize!
2 Gardai policing the bus lane on Clontarf Road and Lawrence's Road junction this morning. 2nd time I've seen them there in recent weeks.
Still can't fathom why they won't just put cameras up, problem solved overnight.
We had cameras before and they were switched off.
Any idea why?
Catching too many people.
