Is there any way of finding out who lives in a property? Don't say knock on the door.
Im looking at moving into a new place, lets just say i probably should have knocked on a few doors before i moved in last time.
Thanks for reading
Yes, look up the folio on land direct.ie, pay a fiver and it tells you the owner of the place.
The owner and who lives there may well be two different matters? I think the OP might be referring to fellow tenants?
Knock on the door & neighbours..
knock on the window
Yes, you right.
Thanks Shauna its worth a look anyway.
Knocking on the door and asking around the neighbourhood are really the only reliable ways.
Search online for news articles with the name of the street or the estate and you might find some relevant information, though...
Go for walks around the area in the mornings and in the evenings. You'll get a feel for the area. Scrappy gardens usually mean scrappy people :)
If you see broken toys or furniture in the front garden, stay far away :)
Check the Register of Voters. They may have registered to vote.
Do you not need a name and pps number to do this?
The electoral register is organised by street. Whether you can get access to it is another question. I wanted to have a look at it in the library one time and they were reluctant to share, I'd say because they didn't understand which version they're allowed to share and which they're not.
When I looked at it before I could only see a facility to check if you were on the register but could not see an option where you could browse the register.
I'm thinking about the physical copy, which is supposed to be available in libraries and maybe other places.
Thoms Street directory is available in libraries. I am not sure if it is still printed but it used to be out annually and information from voter's register forms basis for street data.
It hasn't been printed for ten years. And the info for houses is sometimes a further decade out of date as the rights to use the full voting register for that purpose were removed
I find white goods to be more of a giveaway.
Thanks, I'll check it out.
