How do people feel about this one? Will it be short and sweet?

I see the 1% from Oct 1st hasn’t come into effect for this Thursday’s pay.
Is this likely that they were waiting to see the result of the ballot?
The 3% from Feb will be 3% on the salary pre Oct 1st I presume and not from Oct 1st (after the 1%).
The 3% will be whatever you were paid in February as this is when it is backdated too. Any increments received in that time will include the 3% as well.
It is unclear if the 1% October increase will factor in the 3% increase and hence be a 1.03% increase compared to your current pre-3% increase salary.
You would imagine most payrolls were awaiting the result of the ballot so they only have to update the database once.
How on earth did you jump to that conclusion? Nobody is claiming that. Maybe have a long hard look at that yourself.
I am saying this isn't true
So you are now claiming that nobody is the private sector is getting pay increases in line with inflation?
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
It was the government applying the pressure not the unions.
Do I think that a better deal was possible, yes.
Do I have any faith in the current leaders of my union to have the stomach or ability to achieve this, no.
Why wouldn't they be? The work doesn't go away and in many areas it increases during a recession. If the work is still there you have no case to go looking for redundancies. Dept of Finance would never sanction it anyway, redeployment and hiring freezes are far cheaper. One of the reasons they like to keep as many staff as possible as generalists, and strongly resist things like specialist IT grades or allowances.
Multiple posters have suggested that the entire private sector are getting wages rises in line with inflation this year.
That's not what I said. There may be plenty in the private sector getting wage increases in line with inflation - the best of luck to them - but the entire sector isn't.
And again, isn't this a major benefit of working in the public sector?
I work in Hse payroll. We are waiting for official pay scales issued, they have to include 3% that was just agreed. At the best all going to be updated on payroll in November, back pay paid out at the end of November, no sign of it yet.
I wonder when a circular will be issued? Really hoping to get back payment in November at latest. Will help with Christmas.
I was talking to someone today who worked last Sunday and when she enquiries about this weeks shifts, was told they were closing down that night. So definitely didn't get a pay rise
No. Nobody has suggested that the entire private sector is. Not one poster.
That's not what I said.
It's exactly what you said:
There are posters in here making claims that private sector workers are getting payrises in line with inflation with zero evidence. I am saying this isn't true
That can only be not true if nobody in the private sector is getting such increases. But we know some are.
I am not going to trawl back over the 2500 posts in the thread but there are posters here who firmly beleive every private sector worker has gotten a payrise to match inflation.
You don't believe me - fine - it matters little as your own standpoint appears to be more realistic.
Some private sector workers have received payrises in line with inflation - that's my own personal take on it too. However it is not reflective of the sector as a whole. Those that are attempting to justify larger public sector pay increases based on this flawed logic are in this thread.
Many private sector workers are staring down the barrel of redundancies in the short to medium term. An issue which won't happen for Public sector workers - which is a MAJOR positive of working in the public sector.
It’s immaterial anyway as the wage increases have been agreed and 90% of those who voted have backed it
The circular is out today, so hopefully things will be processed quickly.

I get 30e a week extra and now get caught for asc at 3.3%. Wonderful.😱
Presumably it's only 3.3% on the amount above the threshold. If the €30/week pushed you over the threshold, the ASC will be pennies.
It's the principle of it. 😂. It was meant to be a temporary levy in the form of prd.
A name change and it became permanent with most not even realising they were paying it.
On that I’m in total agreement. It’s a special surtax on PS workers that has nothing to do with pensions.
Actually, it has one thing to do with pensions: it was a way of cutting PS pay while not affecting pensioners who strike fear into the government.
The biggest insult is calling it a contribution. It's a tax.
Anyone getting Single Public Service Pension Scheme annual statements might notice that all these "additional superannuation contributions" are not included in the superannuation contributions figures on your statement. I questioned it but that's the instruction from DPER to all departments - the "additional superannuation contributions" should not be included in any superannuation contributions figures sent to scheme members.
That's because everyone except gullible right-wing rubes knows that this "contribution" has sod all to do with pensions. It just goes into general gov't coffers like any other tax revenue.
I'm told that pay should start filtering into people's bank accounts from the 28th October depending on when you're paid.
3%+1%
Thanks
Didn't know you were in the CS. We've met in real life.
We have?
Camera club.
Uh? Think you've got the wrong person
Maybe😁
Has anyone had any update from their payroll regarding this, not a word from ours yet, scales still showing as old rates.
Scales have been updated to show the new rates for me since Monday. I assume I’ve missed the payroll deadline for next weeks pay but should have it for the 10 November
I assume you're fortnightly.
