It's hard to determine where Ballygarret to Ballynasare is; Google Maps reports multiple conflicting locations for Ballynasare.
It says only 3 million allocated which sounds like a short scheme. However I'm hoping the actual route is this, am I right?
No, I'm afraid not.
It's from the end of the most recent scheme near Banogue Hairpin, to the west side of Anascaul.
It will remove the next two awful hairpins.
That'll be nice to have. Will 3 million be enough though? Seems like a very hilly area, would have thought it would be more expensive.

Is there a route plan for this short section? How much are they planning on cutting off from the hairpins? The straighter the road the higher the road will have to be. Very interested to see how it turns out

So that's €1.6m on top of the €3.6m local contribution discussed upthread, doesn't sound like enough to cover both of these;
Construction in 2021:
c. Ballynasare Lower to Annascaul (4.7km)
f. Doonore North to Ballygarret (2.3km)
It should be enough for year 1 of construction, with another allocation for next year.
Yes fair point. I'd say though that the local €3.6m allocation is over multiple years so I'd only expect another TII allocation in 23.

Given the cycling component of this project it's baffling how this isn't a major priority, given its shovel ready nature and the prospects for its use.
The expected shortfall in funding has come to pass so the next section to be done will simply be the main street of Annascaul and a short section west of it to the junction with the Inch road. Tenders etc expected by July and construction in the latter part of the year. Annascaul is in a bad way and really needs to be done. Heard an interview about it on Raidio Na Gaeltachta and there was no great optimism that the next stages would happen anytime soon - the next 4 or 5 years at best.

Yeah this scheme has really been cut to the bone. Pity but it’s a decent start. New surface through Annascaul and then 800m of new road to the west
Works have begun at the junction of the N86 and the road to Inch/Killarney. Three-way traffic lights in operation - seem to be in the sequence of traffic from Dingle, then Inch/Killarney and lastly Annascaul/Tralee. No big delays but very muddy on the road at times. Mostly widening the junction/scraping away the slope on the inland side but also seems to be a lot of excavating on the seaward side. Weather was dire when driving through so couldn't really get a good look.
Is that the junction on the west side of Annascaul? That junction has already been upgraded.
Yes, the same one. I'm guessing it's to create enough room to create a segregated cycle lane in both directions.

This project seems to drag for ever.
Removal of bends and all sorts were in the planning and its all ground to a slow halt.
Is it only getting drip fed money from the council or what?
No, not the council, TII, as the current Government policy is to divert funding away from roads in favour of public transport and active travel.
The next phase has been reduced in scope to only cover the upgrade of the road though Annascaul village.
