    Hi,

our prevous tenants moved out in July, they closed their electric and gas account with their supplier,a month later both were disconnected via the meters. Fast forward a couple of weeks later our house goes sale agreed,we wish to reconnect, understanding there is now reconnection charges in place.....

Question: do we have to go back to tenants prevous supplier or can we go with electric ireland for both gas and esb, also is there any variatiin/leeway in reconnection charges....

    thanks a mill!

If your electrical service is disconnected, you will have to get a electrician to test the property and issue a certificate

this could get expensive quick ,depending on age of property and installation quality

Absolute nonsense, it was only disconnected in July which is obviously less than 6 months ago.

@sandyxxx you can go with whatever provider you want, the reconnection fee should be minimal - under €75 or so - if any.

You still need a certificate from a reci ,

whole property has to tested and and any issues looked at

reconnecting fee will be low ,

No you don't, please stop spouting nonsense. A RECI cert is only required if the property has been disconnected for more than 6 months. Source, the horse's mouth: Reconnecting Supply | ESB Networks

im assuming jl spark is talking about the 5year etci cert which is a requirement for all landlords, guessing its unaffected by disconnection

Assumption is the mother of all fcukups 🤣

thanks for the replies, to cut a long story short you can go with an alternative provider, but its more straightforward to go with the previous, as there is no middle company to go through regarding scheduling reconnection dates etc.....got both gas and electric scheduled within a week! .....you have pay to connection amd disconnect charges regardless!!
