How do people feel about this one? Will it be short and sweet?

It's not a case of keeping our head in the sand.
We know what will happen if there is a serious recession.
For the moment if the deal passes you will be paying us extra and thank you.
If there is a serious recession we will be paying private sector workers who lose their jobs.
You're welcome.
When you have worked in government payroll and know the work that has gone on in the background over the years come back to us an tell us what's really involved.
That does not in any way contradict what I said and yes I have worked on such systems thank you.
I've a good idea of the work that has gone on in the background, but the NSSO Core payroll system is barely fit for purpose. The process and user interface for end users submitting expense claims is absolutely dire.
I couldn't disagree but with the amount of data on the servers I can't imagine much happening for a long time.
Cost of replacement would be a huge issue too, tens of millions in licencing costs and more again in project costs.
It's a great deal in fairness
Many in the private sector could lose their jobs while everyone across the board in the public sector gets a pay increase.
Also a tax reduction for anyone on the higher rate.
Not too shabby at all
Are the great minds forgetting about the several billion in tax debt, owed by taxpayers, which was ‘warehoused’ during the pandemic?
This will be become payable from January 2023, and with interest.
If the teaching unions are any indication of the wider voting, the deal will sail through https://www.rte.ie/news/ireland/2022/0930/1326356-public-sector-pay/
Hopefully its in place quickly after the 7th, be nice to get the back dated funds before Xmas
7th of October?
yeah that's the date all the unions will meet to pass/not pass it (well looks like it will pass no bother). So hopefully then payrolls can get up to speed and we get it in time for Christmas.
Wow I expected this to pass easily but not by those margins. Like others just hope this is done in time for payroll for before Christmas
Payment wi depend on when Dper send the circular down to payroll
Yeh I wouldn't be getting my hopes up yet about having it before Christmas.
Will we get the October 2022 1% increase this month are will that be part of the back paid lump sum we get in December?
The October 1% is not part of the renegotiation. We will get it this month. It is not part of the backpay.
Funny how some unions have announced a result days ago while Forsa are still balloting until Thursday. Result by Friday evening though I expect.
If the ICTU public sector group of unions are meeting on Friday then the result will be done by Thursday evening, it is an electronic vote for CS anyway (maybe not for everyone?)
I'd imagine the E-Ballot will give them the result they need to progress without waiting for any paper ballots. if it's the landslide that is predicted the paper ballot will be of little consequence.
I understand wanting to wait until the budget was announced but anyone I know voted last week in the days after the budget, they seem to be really dragging it out
Just been onto payroll. No word on the 1%. #
You cannot announce the result before the voting period is over. I am not sure how anyone is dragging it out.
Really? I thought it was a given that that was forthcoming regardless of ballot?
The voting period did not have to be as long, that is what is being dragged out. What has it been a month?
Everyone you know waited for the budget. The budget was only last week. They are closing the ballot a week later. They're giving people time to actually post their ballot. I posted mine on Monday. There's nothing being "dragged out".
It has been a month but again it made sense to wait until the budget.
I suppose the answer then is to get with the times and other unions and have electronic ballots so it’s not dragged out by people posting
Can you explain what the benefit of an early decision by a union is considering the meeting is on Friday anyway? If a Union voted in favour of it a week ago, they still have to wait until this Friday to cast their own vote.
Nothing is being dragged out. It is a ridiculous complaint.
And that too should have been shifted a week there was no need to have it dragged out to Friday for the glaringly obvious reason of we are coming to a shortened window for payroll and for a lot of people the backpay will be of significance this side of Christmas.
You have to give people time to think about the deal and what way they are going to vote. Budget on Tuesday, deadline on Thursday would have been unfair and too tight. While its blindingly obvious this deal will be accepted, you have to treat every vote the same and hence give people enough time.
You started by complaining about the Unions dragging it now its down to the ICTU. Your point doesn't make sense. People making the correct decision is far more important than implementing it before Christmas.
You’d swear the budget was top secret and not practically leaked in its entirety. I’m amazed people had to give that much time to thinking about it. All decisions could have been made by last Friday easily. If payments are delayed I hope all concerned use this as a lesson learnt opportunity and move to online voting there’s no reason for postal
