Nah way to limited. No ground game. Nate subbed him, Khabib subbed him, Charles will sub him.
Which is weird, especially with the context of John Hathaway's recent appearance of Helwani's show.
Says he's getting tested multiple times a year by USADA despite being retired and inactive for the past 8 years.
Can say that about so many people in combat sports for whatever reason. Don’t think he’d care to be fair to him
It’s probably a bit selfish from our point of view wishing we got to see him more in his prime.
However, he fought 10x times between his debut in the UFC in April 2013 to to the Alvarez fight in Nov 2016
Can’t begrudge him for that
It just went so fast was all!
*and we still got Mayweather and Khabib fights
Anyone and I mean ANYONE can do what he does he's a mouthpiece. Initially that mouthpiece had hunger and skill so his chat was backed up now he's just a laughing stick and uses the UFC as a means to keep a brand going.
Most fighters love their sport dearly and focus on the outcome rather than the limelight...those who do are normally extremely successful minus the wealth. But I guess their legacy means more to them.
That's a bit naive. Tons of fighters engage in trash talk and put on/exaggerate a personality to build their brand. And it tends to work, but no-one's come remotely close to achieving what McGregor did.
Paddy Pimblett is a good recent example. He's making serious money off his personality rather than achievements inside the ring. Any amount of fighters with similar skill/records making a fraction of what he does.
McGregor was extremely successful in the Octagon up until the Alvarez fight. After that he made such ridiculous stacks of cash it's not hard to see why he lost the hunger.
Also he only fought absolute killers after that, Cerrone aside. And being real, the beatdown he gave Cerrone was one of the most lopsided losses in his career, including fights after that. And losing to Khabib and Porier isn't exactly humiliating.
I totally agree that McGregor is now past it from an elite skill level POV, but he easily has a few more massive fights in him - the likes of Chandler, Diaz III, Masvidal, god forbid, Fergusson, etc. All extremely winnable even if only the same McGregor that showed up for Porier ever shows up again.
He's not elite but still dangerous to mid-level guys despite the decline.
UFC, like any other sport, is a mix of skill and character to make it big. Some of the biggest stars in the organisation are very average fighters by elite standards.
Lets give him some credit ,
Conor fighting Nate the first time would be like Khabib fighting at MW on short notice ,When he wasn't even prepard to ever fight at WW ever,
Anything after Floyd Conor was done as an MMA fighter, Im convinced Conor v Khabib was after the Eddie fight he'd have had such a better chance of wining , He had alcohol & possible **** habit & been out of the Octagon for two years when he fought Khabib ,
Dana confirming that Conor will have to re enter the usada tests for 6 months before a fight. Didn't realise he had removed himself from it.. explains the size of him the last year
Doesn't seem fair that you can drop out of the testing pool, potentially juice up and put on raw mass and then fight again 6 months later.
Definitely doesn't. Seems that's exactly what he has done though. I'm sure Dana will find a Brock Lesnar style exemption if he wants to return sooner though.
He became champ in two divisions in his prime. So you can't really say he wasted it. Just been going downhill since.
Made plenty of money alright, and showed himself up to be a rotten human being.
Why it'll work against him,
He was to small for lightweight & will now be a welter weight where he will be undersized by a large margin ,
The day he singed to fight Floyd was the day McGregor's serious MMA career ended ,
I think he's just shooting for the moon by going to WW. Probably the best thing he can do in a sense, he's nothing to gain from LW and probably couldn't seriously compete for the title. FW is obviously off the table.
But by going to WW and assuming he gets a straight title fight, from his perspective he must think that if he somehow pulls off a victory, then he's the triple champ. If he loses, he can just say at least he had the balls to move through 3 weight classes.
wrong thread
Artem is suing Conor for millions wow. Didn't know they fell out.

I'm pretty certain I read an interview a few months back where Artem said he gave him the idea and refused money for it.
On topic, McGregor is huge. Judging by the photos, he'll be out of that usada pool for another while.
Yeah, I read the same thing. He said McGregor offered him a million and he wouldn't take it. Anyone know why they had such a big falling out?
Ya Artem was on the mma hour and said he offered him a million early on and declined it. In fairness to McGregor, Artem owes him his career, got him a good run in the UFC and he made money on the back of it after in other promotions and deals. They were really close
It's prize fighting at it's core. In terms of revenue generated for himself he's GOAT.
Exactly
Some head on him lately.
He's a UK fighter now, according to UFC.
At this stage the only thing I'd pay to watch is Conor and Kanye locked in the same room for a week
Chandler next so? That's horrible fight for him, it will be some first round though.
Chandler small and very hittable. Perfect for Conor.
Conor as active as a fossil lately, and Chandler with plenty of wins and fights, including that KO of Tony.
Hardly perfect for Conor, he will probably get sparked and that will be that.
chander and mcgregor will be fireworks from the bell
Oh sure but its as perfect s he can get considering where he is at the moment. They cant give him some jabroni either.
I think we've learned his power doest transfer to lightweight. Chandler has a good gas tank for such a high pace fighter, very durable and a pressure fighter.
It's still the same story with Conor see out the 1st round and you have a very high chance of finishing him.
Well he needs a win at 155, i'd give him Dos Anjos if anything because they were mean't to fight before. Or even Tony, they are both coming off losses and are side by side in the rankings outside the top 10.
Tony? That would be worse than the Cowboy fight.
