It's necessary for Zelensky to always overreach in order to get the maximum possible support behind Ukraine. That's why he was on TV at the start of the war asking for NATO to close the sky. He knew that probably wasn't going to happen, but it helped keep the pressure on to get international aid in other ways. Similarly, he may not truly know if Putin is bluffing or not, but he must remind the world of the gravity of introducing nuclear weapons into the conflict and bring the full weight of international condemnation down on Putin. Zelensky has been an excellent wartime leader for Ukraine as, for one, he's been relentless in trying to keep this conflict at the top of the international agenda in order to keep the help coming.

Yep we don't have proper air defence, the thought process from our leaders "Sure the Brits will cover us". I'm sure the military plans in case of an invasion would be to hope Uncle Sam comes to our aid.
If we are serious about our neutrality we need to invest in our Defence Forces and in particular the Air Corp and Navy. We need proper radar and jet fighters and to invest in more proper naval vessels. We also need to ensure we invest in the people in our Defence forces and provide them with the renumeration,trading and career progression.
I wouldn't join NATO but would make sure we coordinate with any EU fronted force.

All we see recently is Russian people who don't want to be drafted to fight in the war. If they were against the war they would have come out on the 24th of Feb, instead they have been complicit for the last SEVEN MONTHS.
As far as I am concerned the Russian regime, their military and their complicit public are pure and utter evil scum. They can only redeem themselves if they stop those in power and withdraw their troops . However I don't see that happening and the Ukrainians will have to defeat them militarily at brutal cost to their country and people for this to happen.
