How do people feel about this one? Will it be short and sweet?

What part of ‘ people nearing retirement’ did you miss ?
i missed nothing
aside from the problem i pointed out above you simply decided to presume there was no value at all in experienced people in roles.
you decided that a cost saving could be made at no cost to performance and theres just no foundation to that
the corollary to "save at whatever cost to service provided" is just not to bother.
sorry if i made that unclear- but its not a genius idea to replace lots of experience at once for the sake of salary savings, in any sector
Seems the NSSO have fcuked things up much worse than I thought, so... when payroll was still in-house the timelines were nothing like that.
'nearing' retirement is a very elastic thing
e.g. enter at 18, you can go between 58 - 65 if you like, perhaps even 70 (not sure if that later retirement date was extended to pre-95 staff or not)
Threats to pension were used in the crash to force people out who could have stayed at least another couple of years.
being fair, throwing entire established payroll related processes out to a services model off site such that they all become subject to one of the toughest audit standards out there while neglecting to set up much in the way of IT systems or client-verified data sharing procedures somewhat tied the hands of what the NSSO could achieve.
the big 5 firm who sold that particular pup are still in business ofc, the private sector expertise we love to read about in this thread.
Try 54 government departments who are the data controllers and the nsso who act on their instructions as the processor. Ad to that departments who don't give instructions on time and prevent the payrolls from doing their job.
A lead time and cut offs are necessary.
Most of the problems people face with not being paid lies closer to home than the nsso.
I know some Depts / offices have always been useless in that regard but it seems the service level for all has now been dragged down to the lowest common denominator. Didn't say it was the fault of those who work there.
That's utter crap, you bare-faced liar.
Even if someone doing data entry is on 35k, why do you compare that person to a new entrant? Why not compare to the CO with 10 years experience?
No-one doing data entry with little experience is on 35k.
You ok hun?
lads im on a phone and its almost impossible to find out what the mods on a forum are, apologies to put someone else to the trouble but who can we @ to get some action taken around here
its clear that reported posts are not checked in this thread and really its beyond tolerable at this stage
@Nody @Stheno ^^^
Quick search on Irish Jobs, here is an Administrator job in the middle of Dublin for 25k. https://www.irishjobs.ie/Jobs/Administrator-euro25k-8848690.aspx
Show me similar for 35k-40k
Stop posting lies and you won't get called a liar then. Simple enough solution if you don't like it.
literally said "phew" in admiration at your absolute gall tbh
I've read this 4 times now and still haven't any idea what you're banging on about here.
Useless in what regard?
How are they all now equally as useless? On what basis are you claiming that all Depts and PS bodies are all equally as crap?
Also, WTF has it got to do with pay?
Relax the cacks, I was replying to the post directly above it 🙄
Useless in regard to getting payroll changes, T&S etc done within a reasonable time.
Now all Depts/offices who use the NSSO for payroll have ridiculously long lead times even if they didn't before.
Anyway, it's good to know that the mods/admins consider calling another poster a bare-faced liar (in bold, at that) is perfectly acceptable on this thread even though it isn't anywhere else.
As I said, a lot of the issues stem from local hr not sending the instructions in a timely manner.
The payroll processing train just keeps on going from one period to the next. If the instruction isn't in on time, the train has left the station and will catch the next one.
You wouldn't appreciate your wages not being paid on time for the sake of 1 person in another part of the country. Multiply that 1 person by multiples for the true effect.
Now that you mention it, heads up, to anyone who has made any amendments to their Public Service Credit Union deductions via payroll in the last six weeks or so. Double check your payslip and make sure they've been put through by NSSO or your CU account could end up in arrears.
Turns out a bunch of deduction amendments sent on by PSCU were not processed by NSSO, and PSCU only discovered it this week. But I will add this appears to be a once off error.
I'm in the process of taking out a loan now I'm thinking it might be better to go DD rather than deductions is there any pros to deductions?
In fairness skidmarkoner, I think this was a once off error as I've been a member of the civil service credit union (now public service credit union) since its inception and this is the first time an error like this has ever happened. Personally, I have always and will always go with deduction at source, as its the most painless way and you simply don't feel it. Amendments to deductions via payroll usually take about 2 weeks, (not 6!)
Speaking of credit unions, Cana (I don't work in their bailiwick anymore, just didn't bother switching) refused to allow me to withdraw shares unless I verified my address. But they asked me the same thing almost exactly two years ago and I did it then. I'm living in the same place over 15 years. No other financial institution my wife or I deal with has ever asked for this. 🤔
My department use NSSO and I've heard no complaints from staff regarding wait times for T&S, overtime , increments etc.
IMO it's mostly down to how good the HR unit is in your own building.
They are a joke, wait time of 12 weeks or so processing summer HDA's for me, massive error or series of errors from last summer resulting in me being overpaid and owing back almost as much as I received.
The usual passing the buck when trying to solve any issues. Extremely poor service from any dealings I've had with them.
This thread is crying out for a ballot. To get back to what we are actually interested in, if it is likely or probable the pay agreement will be passed or not.
I created a Google Forum Survey on it here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScMJC7hezbb5esol5CSu0rL9Vg5WOZ5XGTBDVzyOaz2DwidLw/viewform?usp=sf_link There is no need to sign in with email addresses etc just submit the answer & optionally your grade to see what the results look like
I will leave it open until Monday evening & put the results on afterwards.
It was mentioned just up thread how ridiculous the lead times now are. That's nothing to do with local HR.
No effin way am I giving Google that sort of information
Fair enough, in no way was suggesting it was obligatory 🤣 just trying to get a consensus so we can see what way it is likely to go. That is why no email was needed!
Why would you be concerned about giving Google that information? Sure it just asks if you're happy with the deal and your grade. You could just add easily lie about both.
Google gleans a lot more from your searches than that.
No they don't because I don't use Google 😎 for the record I'd be no.7
