How the hell do they manage to drown three vehicles which float?

History has also constantly shown that sometimes a problem is only solved by sufficient application of high explosive. Not always. There are four elements of national power, military is only one of them. But sometimes you just have to use the Army.

There's an saying around these parts (I'm in Texas), "nothing wrong with killing as long as the right people are getting killed." Made famous by Dirty Harry in Magnum Force (he uses the word 'shooting'), but the concept didn't originate in the movies.

I think we all agree that loss of life is unfortunate. Needless loss of life is a tragedy. From the Ukrainian perspective, however, it is not needless, they were the ones who got invaded. You have the right to use force to remove an intruder from your house. That applies to the national level as well. Easy way for the killing to stop is for the Russians to go back across the border, and that doesn't require back-channel communication, it's been made extremely clear. They started it, they can finish it just as easily.

Why am I surprised a man who loves seeing the strongest most resourced GAA county dominate and wants to see the unequal funding continue shill out in support of Russia. I always did say those dubs who've enjoyed going to 10 year's of Leinster championship hammerings would make good dictator's. It's Just a similar mentality.

Ps. They do have a hope of winning because the underdogs in this case are getting better resources and funding. And guess what just like the GAA money and resources does effect the outcome.

Long live the underdogs and long live Ukraine.

Looking at the last couple of days, it’s still not too late for Ukraine to Surrender to Russian troops…

if they can find any that is 😂😂😂

Wow, never thought the Dubs would get dragged into this.

And it's 12 years of Leinster hammerings.

17 in 18 years, 2010 the exception, when Joe Sheridan breached the Geneva convention when scoring a injury time try disguised as a goal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,430 ✭✭✭paul71

That was not the goal that made 2010 the exception. It was the 5 goals the Dubs conceded, not the Goal that should have been a penalty against Louth.

    Hmmm, an intercounty football discussion!?!?

We are in danger of entering into an area of genuine dispute, injustices, rivalry, and historic hatreds instead of discussing those invented reasons dreamt up and propogandised by Russia in order to invade innocent neighbours.

Looking at the reports coming out of this Kharkiv counteroffensive the Russians are leaving a lot of kit intact that has been captured. A full battery of Msta-S Self propelled howitzers with ammo captured for example. Not only are they getting routed they are leaving weapons systems with ammo behind that will be turned around and used on them.

There are rumblings of criticism against the NovoFuhrer in the Kremlin. If this continues its only a matter of when the putsch happens not if it will.

That happens in Ireland also. Eg cattle rustling, baled hay/straw gone missing, stolen machinery, tc.

By that logic no nation should ever resist being invaded. Not raising the white flag and giving the aggressor everything he wants on day one also prolongs wars.

I read the comments. Unlikely that this is true, lots of dispute over the photos. I'd wait for independent confirmation.

I was thinking that he must be hitting bugger all but there's the psychological effect too. They say that when "Ma Deuce" speaks, everyone listens.

Would that be three vehicles that are supposed to float because they've got special waterproofing and buoyancy stuff, but...Russia?

Cattle rustling has disappeared, its negligible for decades now. The last attempt I heard of was 6 cattle in Mayo a few years back and a couple of single cattle in Cavan about a decade ago. Hay/Straw, in all honestly good luck to the lad who does that, the transport loading unloading would make it a fairly uneconomic criminal venture.

Machinery theft, absolutely, very very common.

The point is the above activities are all criminal and crimes are reported, investigated and prosecuted here and all accross the EU. In Ukraine crimes were organised at the behest and for the profit of Russian criminals, the police being controlled by political class in turn controlled by Russia ignored crime and corruption.

Ukrainians made a decision to end this, move towards a more western less corrupt Government structure as necessitated by EU membership and Russia reacted to the potential loss of income from the government sponsored criminal enterprises in Ukraine.

    In short

Ukraine, Russian controlled, corrupt = Russian profit, happy Russia/impoverished Ukraine.

Ukraine, Ukrainian controlled, not corrupt = Ukraine profit, less impoverished Ukrainians. Happy Ukrainians/Angry Russia Government/Criminals.

I don't have an "end game". Merely stating facts about how the narratives have shifted. Before this invasion by the prick in the Kremlin western media and various external governmental and non governmental sources were pointing to the outrageous corruption and sectarian violence supported by both the Russians and Ukrainians in Ukraine and concerns about the hard Right trying to garner support again at home and abroad. The latter had fallen way down in polls since Maidan but was still there, or enough to get the more right on bedwetters in some of the Western media crowing on about the "dangerous rise of the Right". The BBC went from reports on training camps for neo nazis to nothing really to see here after the war started. Zelensky was both seen as a new man but also with concerns about his cracking down on opposition in the media and politics. Ukraine was one of the least developed and most screwed up state out of all the former Soviet vassals.

I'm also saying that truly horrific though this war is that it may and should be a real force for change the better after Ukraine wins. And Zelensky clearly proved to be the man of the hour in this war. Winston Churchill was a murderous imperialistic racist, but he was the man for Britain in WW2. He had been "in the wilderness" before it started and when it was over he was voted out.

As for judging corruption by his continued survival. Hardly a judge of anything. Russia is one of the most corrupt states on the planet, headed by putin and his cronies robbing the people blind for twenty years and he's still kicking with no sign of death "from within". Yet...

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

Cattle/sheep rustling has absolutely NOT disappeared in Ireland. Sheep are stolen regularly, and a number of cattle were taken from the Ballinasloe area in the past few weeks.

Rural Ireland... you say Sheep rustling - others would say eloping 🥰

6 Cattle taken and recovered the next day. Trying to compare small scale crime in the EU or advanced economies to Russia mafia in Ukraine is laughable.

We have a cattle herd of what 7 million head? I would be shocked if more then 100 disappeared in a year and its more likely to be in single figures in a year. If that were in Russian controlled Ukraine you would be talking industrial scale theft of hundreds of thousands year.

Someone was asking about our favourite prime time Russian tv show few pages back

Julia posts them almost daily ^

I did not make that comparison, find another tactic to buttress your inaccurate argument that theft of livestock has died out. In my last inspection the inspector unprompted brought it up, that many genuine farmers had complained to him about it on his travels.

I made an argument in context you have offered nothing but ancedots. How many cattle out of our 7 million herd were rustled last year? 20? 30? 100?

    What value? €20,000, €50,000 €100,000.

The cattle raids of Cooley was a long time ago and the like does not exist any more. What happens here is the odd bullock is stolen and slaughtered by an Amatuer. In Ukraine 10,000 acres of tilled was regularly disappearing. So stop talking non-sense or come up with pertinent facts.

So no answer, you counter a point with nonsense and when challenged for fact have nothing.

How many of our 7,000,000 herd were rustled last year? Was it more than 100. How does anything you say disprove my point that advanced western societies have no corruption in comparision regimes controlled by Russia?

I'm not doing your homework on the internet for you. If you want to find out go look for yourself. Your statement that rustling has disappeared in Ireland is completely incorrect. Acting the bully demanding answers doesn't work with me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,430 ✭✭✭paul71

So the surrender of those without any point other than ancedot.

Literally the most cursory of internet searches, and far from everything in Ireland is available online, tell's anyone who cares to find out who is correct on this point. Goodbye.

"As long as we keep waging war in hopes of peace..." I think he needs to be talking to a psychiatrist rather than another panel member. The rhetoric has clearly changed though...

I said negiable, and negiable in the context of Ukraine of the scale of corruption in pre 2014 Russian controlled Ukraine.

So you first cherry picked something I said, then changed what I actually said, then took away the context.

Please reread what I said before responding with nonsense.

You have brought up 6 cattle that were recovered the next day out of a herd of 7,000,000. You are being ridiculous.
