Quantum leap revival/reboot

What do we all make of this , I'd Be in favour of a revival over a reboot personally. The original is perfect, to try and reboot it would be folly. A revival on the other hand could work , it could feature Sam's Son or Daughter leaping through time trying to find him. They could get Al back as the UnPC guide as he'd be as eager as him/her to find Sam. As you can only leap within your own lifetime it would likely cover the nineties ,Noughties, and whatever the last decade is called, so there's plenty of cultural touchstones to touch on. Scott Backula would turn up every so often as Sam before one or the other would leap away.

What do people think. Would Quantums leaps feelgood "putting things right that once went wrong" schtick fly with modern audiences or would it just be shot down as virtue signalling if it attempted the sort of episodes it did in the original about race and sexism.

Barely any time in the original was spent in the “present” - there was one episode where the B-plot has Al appear (in full Navy uniform no less) before a congressional committee to try to secure continuing funding and other than that I don’t recall any other episode spending any significant amount of time in the “present”. Occasional scenes in later episodes might see Al try to get some information out of the person Sam leaped into in the “waiting room” and that was basically about it. It was really very occasional stuff.

There was the episode where Al and Sam switched places. So we got to see Sam back home for a bit until he had to leap again to save Al.

The original press release states the Leaper is trapped in time and his memory is Swiss cheese - same as Beckett.

Once it was announced that Ernie Hudson was playing the project leader it was clear that each episode would be feature the present day. They also announced other recurring characters which could only be present day project members.

TV photo stills always look very underwhelming; mostly cos the majority of TV (especially Network TV) is still shot without much of a cinematic or aesthetic eye. So yeah, the publicity photo looks a bit blah, but that's to be expected IMO

None of that would bother me obviously, but the niggling thing is that it seems very like Time Tunnel from something I saw early on in the thread to that still.

Could Ziggy see Beckett? I can't remember Ziggy seeing him. I remember that they used to have difficulty locating him and Ziggy would spit out stats and odds, I don't remember Ziggy seeing him though.

Gooshy built Ziggy with Sam, but I don't think Gooshy could monitor him like they can in Time Tunnel either, I think he was just able to read or listen to the information that Ziggy had, which is given to him by Al.

When I started a new job last year the induction course had a few hours on diversity ,etc. and new letters were added to LGBT.

I don’t know who came up with them (maybe it was just this organisation) but there wasn’t an X aNd I can’t imagine who was left from a string of ten letters.

I have not (yet) been in a “they/them”situation but I will not refer to a person that way no matter that the person may prefer it. Calling someone “them” is rude according to how I was raised and they’ll just have to accept that.

Not sure about the "present" storyline of investigating why he did the unauthorised leap.

Seeing the part about the project being rebooted means Sam has been leaping without help all this time. So he needs to figure out what he has to do by himself. Made me wonder did they ever explain what happens if he fails? Does he still leap or is he stuck there?

I'm almost 100% sure you're right... but I'll still watch it. Possibly while sighing loudly, but the original was SO good that it's worth a chance.

Re-watched the original straight through on my last week off work, it's still absolutely brilliant television for anyone who wants to travel back in time from your own couch.
