How do people feel about this one? Will it be short and sweet?

Even better
Are you saying that every HR manager needs to notify payroll of every single staff members anniversary date every single year?
With regard to the DPER circular, every other state body has paid over the 1%. It's 7 months on now, a bit rich to be blaming them still!
As a new entrant who tried to convince skilled friends and family to apply for positions I can confirm that salary is 100% of the answer i received as to why they don't want to apply.
The money is to low for most as the private sector offers quicker progression to higher scales.
Speaking to colleagues today all were in favour but 6.5% over a relatively short time is a nice amount for higher paid PS (>€100k). I don’t think it’ll do a lot for the lower paid members of my team. 4% before year end is not much if your take home is €2-3k a month. Won’t even cover diesel fuel cost increases. That said I’d say it’ll be passed, refusal and strikes coming into a long hard expensive winter is not an appealing prospect for most.
Anyone know if this pay rise also applies to the pensions of retired Public Servants?
Yes.
Good manoeuvring by the Government to back date to February whilst still keeping the increase relatively modest. In typical shortsightness and greed, they'll lap it up. If the inflation situation deteriorates further, unions don't have a leg to stand on.
Good to see precedent set to trying to link pay with inflation. Hopefully in more normal times, it will limit increasing pay to the CPI rate.
I know one thing, I wouldn't want to be a small business owner like a publican or coffee shop owner in this country. Trebling of energy costs, increased PRSI contributions, increased employee leave entitlements, and so on. No wonder SMEs are closing. This deal announced today won't help them.
Even for government employees who could afford it, they're too miserable to go to the likes of pubs and coffee shops. Too busy counting the extra pennies a litre of milk costs today compared to a couple of months ago.
As a new recruit to CO. Loving it btw. 2 weeks and pay drop is significant….. anyone know what I’ll be moving too !
You had nearly 12 hours and that’s the best you could come up with?
Yes, because payroll don't know if pmds had been completed successfully and increment approved. The increases from these talks have to follow through the above procedures. Payroll will know about the 1%
If you're taking home around €414 now you'll be taking home around €431 after the 3% and the additional €500 in October.
Any information on the relinquishing of 'croke park hours' which were part of Fempi and the reinstated in Haddington Road?
I haven’t got my first week yet ! 485.60e ? Gross !?
Matching inflation is nonsensical. The cost of living will come down, it's a good deal and is backdated to Feb. Unions would be idiots to reject it this is the only deal.
Make sure your tax credits are right with Revenue and they have sent over a tax cert to payroll
Hahahahahaha as richarlison says , cry more.
You can check on the revenue site what you will be getting paid in the my account section
balls they'll be kicking up again come winter time when prices rise another per cent or 2
Boom!
I may be mistaken in my figures here but at height of celtic tiger was there 250 k public sector employees ? now its roughly 340 k public sector employees?
What would I be crying for? I already secured my salary increase for this year for much more than what was offered today. I am not an SME owner either. I am taking an objective look at all this as an impartial observer.
Someone needs a hug 🤣
They invest so much time on this topic, it's a sad existence. Must be exhausting being like that.
Really? I think you'll find an interest in politics and current affairs is a quite common pastime for many people. Maybe the people you hang around with are more used to watching and talking about Love Island and the latest Tik Tok fads.
go on strike then ? for how long ?
While some of you are looking to strike etc just some more food for thought on where the Ireland/Europe is heading.
Also the auld pop getting out of dodge in Italy interesting times
But sure lads phuck all to see here lads all will hunky dory strike away see if you can get 100% pay rises.
That's true, but that has nothing to do with your obsession over this particular topic. It's sad.
Just because there is more quantity, does not mean there is more quality :D
Look, I think we all understand what you are saying - whether it is right or wrong. The country is heading for a recession, lean times for many etc etc
Admirable.
However from a purely selfish rationale I have to look out for my own situation. I am in a technical role in the Public Service, the pay and conditions are no doubt better for what I do in the private sector but it is lean times that make the public sector more desireable (generally) - however, we've all seen that in lean times the public sector take pay cuts, increased hours and generally worse terms and conditions than they do in good.
If this happens as you expect next year, I and by extent my family will be far worse off than they are now. We are hurtling towards this inevitibility according to you and many others, which I don't disagree with.
Me turning down 6.5 percent or whatever it is now because "the country can't afford to pay it" makes absolutely zero sense when you think about it, if we are heading for this inevitibility anyway.........
It just means that when eventually things go to pot, the income loss MIGHT not be felt as hard!
Don't get me wrong, there are many people worse off than myself and when/if things go bad that'll be the same however to expect me or indeed people like me to turn down increased terms and conditions when they are going is just plain fantasy.
You wouldn't do it yourself.
very very true...
