Only a matter of time before they sign a deal with NBI as well.
Do I recall correctly that VM gave an undertaking earlier this year, to open its network to re-sellers?
There were surveyors around Clondalkin either (village area) last month or in June, whether they move to Tallaght next I don't know however. I was just talking to them about what they were doing generally as I didn't recognise the company name of the subcontractors doing that part.
Yeh but it's all gone quiet. They were also spouting about delivering 10gb to the home too. I don't believe a word they say tbh.
Isn't due for completion for another 3 years (if still going ahead)
Pity it will take so long. It is the only (very expensive) fast network available to me here (Dublin).
It's possible there may be Siro/OpenEir deployments in your area prior to VM upgrading to FTTH.
Just be wary. I know Siro have gone live in Maynooth but most housing estates can't get it. They seemed to only cover a few.
Their deals are as good as any other provider now, just sign up as a new customer and you can get 500 meg for 40 euro for 12 months, nothing wrong with that in fairness.
Yes to be fair, it is not too bad and I'll probably go with it if it is still there when my current contract with Sky is up.
It is still more expensive than others, particularly when the 12 months are up €70!!
Has anyone signed up with Pure recently and could tell me how long of a wait there was between ordering and installation? It's probably dependent on location but would <10 days be realistic? Thanks.
What termination do Vodafone or Blacknight use for their 2Gb service? Is it a GPON Modem, 2.5G copper from the ONT or even Fibre?
Id be curious to see if I can use my UDM-P direclty (like I do with Sky 1G) and an optic rather than having to use a modem/router infront of it
Been waiting on sky/siro broadband installation for 4 weeks now. The first engineer placed a hook in our wall for the cable, but wouldn’t touch the ESB pole to run the line across to it.
Does anyone have any recent experience with timelines from the ESB for doing this sort of work? We’re in Dublin 5, other houses in the street already have the line in place… Sky say they don’t have a date from the ESB, and Im getting the feeling this could drag on. Might have to suck it up and move back to Virgin
I got in touch with SIRO after moving into my new house and they got back to me about a month ago to say that they have no plans to serve my estate. Yet, as I type this, a TLI crew working on behalf of SIRO is laying ducting in the ESB manholes outside!
Many a slip twixt cup and lip... 4 years and counting for me😡
Work carried out by esb and KN circet in our area almost all of July and August .
A few days here and there without internet and power , letter in the post from ESB stating to expect outages to facilitate fiber rollout yet nowhere can i find info of anything coming soon.
We are on VDSL years now , luckily im close to the cabinet so i get good speeds.
They've been expanding it to the other estates since they went live. My estate was done over the last month or so. The address checker on the siro website hasn't been updated yet, but the resellers are already installing for some of the neighbours. (I've a bit of internal cabling to sort out before ordering.)
To follow on from this......
https://siro.ie/news-and-insights/siro-announces-five-million-investment-in-full-fibre-broadband-for-ballinasloe-and-loughrea/
I'm getting the 1g for 40 per month for 9 months and 80 for the final 3, average of 50pm.
not bad really, i just wish they charged 50 per month altogether.
anyone any idea what it means regarding the installation of coils of siro branded fibre on an esb pole on land next to my house
That's a DP mounting plate so there will be a DP there.
How far are you from the nearest town/village? Or are there any mobile masts nearby? Siro have historically been focused on "urban customers", so I'd be interested to know how far the nearest exchange is....
Vodafone via siro did a second year at 40 for me for 1 Gig happy days
I've had Siro for last couple of years. €35 for 1 gig with Vodafone. The wildly different prices for the same product are mad...
east cork, siro operates in the next town over. so it seems like they are going to make their services available..
this is really strange as theres already NBI Fibre and Eir IFN fibre available, this would be a third fibre network available
Where do they install the modem?
Same. Not sure where they actually connected! I'd guess Mariaville as they generally target bigger estates first.
They started with the new estates as far as I know, but they've just finished Moyglare Hall. Don't know where they've moved to next.
ESB finally popped up today to drag the fibre across the road. Total wait time was 6 weeks if that’s of interest to anyone
Finally some fiber being laid in my estate. It's being done by whiteknight on behalf of open eir, it only took them a few hours to run it through the underground eircom ducts.
